Transformed my piano journey
I would highly recommend these course modules. Before going down the road of online learning, with thevarious online learning methods available, then give the Alfred course a try first. I suggest trying to stick with this Alfred course method until at least Lesson Book 4 and then see how you feel before trying any online methods (gimmicks). My wife, a Grade 8 pianist, is very pleased with my progress since working with the Alfred methodology. I know, I certainly can feel the difference in my playing. I find my sight reading has also improved using this course too. I deeply regret going down the online learning route with another online vendor and have lost a lot of time pursuing that learning method. It is a popular online method but once I switched to these paper and pencil-based Alfred course works, my piano playing has really took off and much more progress made in a much shorter time frame. For the first time in 3 years, I am begining to feel confident in my playing and progress. I'm just about to start Lesson Book 4 and plan to go to Lesson Book 6 before reassessing my piano journey again. This particular Alfred methodology works for me, a near 60 year old!

Great, Updated Method from Alfred Publishing
I enjoy this method *so much more* than Alfred's Basic Piano Library. The illustrations, music, & lyrics are more modern and "cool" and appeal to a wider age range (for age 6-11 years starting in Level 1A). The Lesson book includes short pieces, rhythm exercises, and a few technique warm-ups (tabletop exercises) and a few brief writing activities. At the first level (Level 1A), I use the Lesson (main book), Performance (slightly longer pieces than in the Lesson book), and either the Theory or Notespeller book (writing books) to make this a "full" course at Level 1A and not to skip over any important concepts. At Levels 1B+, I normally use the Lesson, add in the Technique book (includes healthy technique, exercises, and artistic etudes - performance pieces), and Theory/NoteSpeller to ensure each student is getting a great musical education!
