Is it ok to put the sachet that changes colors it when lit

Solo Stove lid should only be put on the stove has cooled down a bit: 'Lid provides all-purpose utility to your Yukon. Contain leftover ash and embers as an overnight safeguard or convert Yukon to a modern tabletop.'... hope this helps. The lid may well change colour, but this is normal

is this a tight fit so I could leave it out indefinitely with just this lid on for protection, in all weathers ?

Not sure the lid is designed to protect from all weather... the stove has a 'Shelter' cover which act as protection & is very good. Lid is great as it enables you to use the stove as a side table before lighting... once the frames have gone out and the unit is cool you can put it on - it stops the cinders getting wet and makes it easy to clean. Lid is made of the same material as the stove... I personally would leave it out in all weather... look after it and it will keep u warm for many a year
