Are you able to use the iron sites as well ? is it open enough in the middle to use them ?

It was perfect and co-witnesses just fine for my application. Tried .83 almost but 1” was dead on and this also has a lot bigger opening that others to get your SWEET SPOT!!

How high does the 1" riser place the base of the rail? Meaning, is the whole riser 1" including the mounting portion?

No, this mount will raise an optic 1 inch higher than it would be if it were mount directly to the receiver. From mounting surface to mounting surface, it measures 1 inch.

The length of this product is 1.6 inch. Also more product related info can be find at http://www.leapers.com/index.php?act=prod_detail&midx=919&allids=918_919&itemno=MT-RSX1S

Will iron sights be able to be seen under- through the riser?

Might depend on the sights you have but I can use/see my iron sights through this riser
