3" Antique Style Padlock - Iron Jailer Lock with Keys [Misc.]

I work at a Colonial Distillery as a master distiller and I do most of the photography for the distillery. I have built a Tavern photo studio with all kinds of props for promoting our spirits. I don[t need original antiques. I just need everything to look the part. This is one of many items I have that help give me that old Colonial look. The lock works. But I was not really concerned about that. I have combed both Amazon and eBay looking for all kinds of Colonial looking items. I find most everything I want right here and usually the deals here are better than what I find on eBay. I am happy with the looks and the quality of this lock.

I have a bunch of "real" antique locks that I use for decor in a Western themed man cave. I needed one more to balance the design and didn't want to spend time at an antique store looking for one. This one fits right in with the others, except it is not rusty. It is pretty heavy and the keys really work. It came with a little piece of string holding the keys to the lock not a piece of wire, but that was easily fixed. I certainly wouldn't use this lock to secure my Harley at a biker bar but it works great as a cute piece of decor. Well worth your time.

Looks great and matches the other finishes. The locking mechanism is smooth. The only issue is with one of the two keys. The one key does not seem correctly cut and does not operate the locking mechanism. Given it’s for decorative purposes, but a huge issue for me. But worth noting as seems to be a quality control issue.

This item looks vintage. Good quality, not some knock-off junk. We put it on a railing with other locks like they do on European bridge walkways. Looks great. Could also use it not just as a decoration, also functional as an actual lock.

If I could rate this a 0 I would! What a piece of crap! Ruined the look on the antique box for my granddaughter! It is the ugliest thing I’ve ever gotten! It was very disappointing! I wanted antique not MILITARY and it wasn’t even up to those standards!

I purchased these locks for a game event that had a theme. The locks work decently enough, but they do jiggle & will sometimes get stuck open or closed. The keys don't always fit well. The look nice, but compared to modern locks, they are not very safe.

I bought this for my son's pirate party. I recieved it in the mail today and it is far beyond what I expected it to be. I honestly didn't expect it to work like it does. And I honestly didn't expect it to be much considering it is something that i could not pick up and look at before i bought it but looking at this in person it is something that someone has taken their time to make (not just the internal lock pieces). My husband is a welder and he took a good look at it and said that someone had taken their time making this lock. I bought it for a decor item for his party and I believe that this lock will be the hit of the party. I thought that it wouldn't be as well made as it is. I honestly didn't have high expectations for this lock. This is an item that i will be able to keep and use for many other parties and maybe even some costumes for halloween. though it is a bit on the heavy side for a costume so I would not advise it for use for a childs costume. If i wanted to go buy something like this it would cost me 15 or 20 dollars. This is the cheapest that i was able to find something like this, that is why my expectations weren't set too high.

I don't know about the quality control issues on this lock... maybe they read their reviews and fixed their problems. This one is great. It looks authentic enough, the action is fine, both keys fit and work, the paint isn't chipped, and it's just perfect for my needs. What I really wanted to say is that this lock is featured as a "frequently bought with" for the Wooden Treasure Box, Old Style Treasure Chest . I wish to warn you away from this chest as a good match for this terrific lock. The lock is too big for the chest.... probably weighs more than the chest too.
