The answers don't seem to address this -- can this be used on a right-handed door or a left-handed door? Does it come assembled for left-handed? Thx

Handles are reversible. Not in the sense that you loosen and rotate but that you swap outside handle with inside one. Manufacturer's photo is misleading. You would never receive the configuration pictured (both handles are shown as IDENTICAL, which could never be the case). I too was confused on how you could reverse the handles and still maintain the hook shaped end pointing down. Think about it, the side with the keypad is for a left hand door, the side for the interior is for a right hand door. Aaauuugh!!, I wish Schlage would correct their photos. The handles you see are not what you get (one handle will be opposite in appearance, a mirror image of the other)

Is it true when the battery is dead the door will be unlocked

That is true my door battery Dead and it unlock by it self. and I replace the battery and it stay unlock, I can't reset it back to lock handy. Can some one out there can tell me how to set it up again to LOCK...

What happens if the battery is dead?

Anyone know how to unlock WITHOUT the extra key when the battery dies? We cannot find the key and are locked out of our closet!!! Any help (beyond 'call a locksmith') would be greatly appreciated!!!!
