From the director of Angels in the Outfield comes the incredible true story of the underdog foreign Little League team who inspired two nations. Clifton Collins Jr. (Star Trek) heads an all-star line-up of some of Hollywood’s brightest young stars as Cesar, who returns to his native Monterey, Mexico after his major league career is cut short. Moises Arias (Hannah Montana), Jake T. Austin (Wizards of Waverly Place) and Ryan Ochoa (iCarly) costar as impoverished baseball-loving kids who recruit him to coach their rag-tag team. Together, they beat the odds and overcome hardships and bigotry to compete in the 1957 Little League World Series. Screen favorites Cheech Marin (Spy Kids), Lou Gossett Jr. (Iron Eagle), Bruce McGill (Animal House), Emilie de Ravin (Lost) and David Koechner (Anchorman) are featured in this uplifting story in the winning tradition of Hoosiers that Boxoffice magazine cheered as "inspiring, richly entertaining, heartfelt…a perfect family movie." Review: NOT JUST FOR BASEBALL FANS - I am not a tremendous fan of baseball. I do however like to watch baseball movies and especially enjoyed family movies from the 90's like "Rookie of the Year", "Little Big League", "The Sandlot", and "Little Giants". Those movies were fun for the family and better than other baseball movies like, Oh...lets say "Field of Dreams". This movie was "Perfect". It's been a million years since I saw "Pride of the Yankees" as a kid, but remembered it to be good. The Perfect Game is truly the best baseball movie I have ever seen, and one to become a classic like the aforementioned Pride... It is a wonderful family movie without all the goofiness of slew of 90's kids movies. The Perfect Game is feel good movie that leaves you feeling inspired and full of hope. Based on a true story with a real life happy ending, you're left with a sense that the human spirit can overcome anything and any difficulties that life throws at you have suddenly become smaller. I had never heard of this movie and only saw it by accident when Showtime had a free preview. After watching it, I immediately ordered it from desertcart. When it arrived, I loaned it to my mother, who loves baseball. When she had finished watching it she said "you're right, that is the BEST baseball movie I've ever seen!" She now wants a copy of her own. You really can't go wrong with this movie. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did. If you found my review helpful, please vote. Thanks. :-) Review: Great movie - Great movie and great quality

The Perfect Game: Based on a True Story - Nine Boys, One Dream
This is a true story because in 1957, I was 10 years old playing Little League Baseball. The young boy, Angel Marcias (acted by Jake T. Austin) did have a Little League Record as a pitcher that is still standing. Angel's name was immortal to us in the dugout, in school and church. Just like the American Dream, those Mexican boys and their Coach Cesar (acted by Clifton Collins, Jr.) achieved their dream with a Little League World Series Title and Win! Monterrey had a Base Ball Stadium finally and real Little League as well as Major League Baseball Talent continued to come out of Mexico! Those Mexican Boys inspired us who were their age to strive for excellence and be a success. Superb episodes demonstrated how Angel's Father overcame the death of his Son, and reconciled his parenting and love for him! Especially it presented how the nation of Mexico and other countries rose to know those boys and applaud their success. On the field and in personal lives, this DVD movie deserves more than a Five-star Gold Rating as the perfect family movie! It is a privilege to have this true story in my DVD collection for a walk down memory lane.

A good one
It is 1957 and a group of young irrepressibly ebullient, though economically disadvantaged, Mexican boys begin a "Little League" baseball journey with a coach searching for respect and dignity that has illuded him. There is also a sub-plot of a father coming to grips with his oldest son's death and a younger brother's effort through baseball to find his father's love. There are in addition other sub-plots when melded together, make for an uplifting movie with great family value. Parents may wish to explain to their ten and eleven year olds some of the socio-economic messages but even without explanation, this film will capture many hearts. Cheech Marin's portrayal of the boy's parish priest was a pleasant suprise and very believable. Lou Gossett Jr...always a pleasure. Never "sappy" or contrived yet sometimes done before...but do you really care? this movie is a good one.i

The Perfect Movie
Wow! Simply wow. This is easily the best movie I have seen in this century. The story, the true story, is extremely moving. It is quite obvious from the beginning how it is going to end. But that does not matter. It is the story, the getting there, that matters. And the story is simply amazing. The whole thing looks completely unbelievable. Except... It's true! A week before they released it in the theaters they actually showed the movie to the people it depicts (now much older than they were when the story happened, back in 1957), and even they were moved. The story is perfect. The direction is perfect. The costumes are perfect. The acting is perfect. No amazing special effects. No sex. No swearing. Just a story, a story full of heart. I did not grow up in the US. So baseball is not something I knew about while growing up, and I never picked up the baseball bug. But that does not matter. Even though this story is clearly about baseball, I was captured by the story right from the beginning, and I stayed captured till the end. No matter where you are from, no matter what your age is, no matter whether you are a regular movie goer or someone who is not into movies at all, this movie is a must-see for all. Don't hesitate. Don't wait another minute. Just go and buy this movie. You'll be glad to have it. And you'll watch it many times, over and over, for many years to come.

Great Family Movie
This is an excellent family movie. Sensitive racial issues of the time are handled accurately and appropriately, and the movie doesn't lose focus or pace because of them. The storyline brings the history to life, and it is very enjoyable to watch.

ONE EXCELLENT MOVIE! This incredible win of the U.S. Little League World Series, by the mainly poor children of Monterrey, a steel town in Mexico, was no fluke. The much smaller boys than the American opposition did it two years in a row! 1957 & 1958. An event well worth this honouring in film, to join the original film version the team made during their wins.
