Can this be wired to turn on an exhaust fan instead of dehumidifier?

Accepted Answer

The Inkbird's pigtail has two AC sockets.  One is intended to control a humidifier, the other is to control a dehumidifier.  But you can plug in whatever you want, including a power strip.  Important to remember the Inkbird is specified to pass 10 Amps maximum, so there's no circuit-breaker protection -- if your devices draw more than 10 amps but less than 15 amps, the Inkbird will fail.  I got a meter similar to a Kill-A-Watt-meter to assure that my stuff is drawing less than 10 amps.

Question 2

Is it possible for both outlets to power on when a certain RH is reached? Like can an exhaust/intake fan in both outlets switch on at the same time?

I'll say "No."

I'm just running a vaporizer.  Desired Humidity on the Inkbird is set to 40.0%.  When the humidity drops to 39.0%, the vaporizer and the Humidifier-indicator on the Inkbird turns on, and then you can see the humidity indicator increasing 1/10th at a time.  When the humidity rises back up to 40.0%, the vaporizer and the Humidifier-indicator turns off.  Generally, then the humidity will start to drop.  If the weather gets more humid and the indoor humidity starts to rise, the Dehumidifier-indicator will turn on when the humidity hits 41.0%, and then if you have a dehumidifier hooked up, you can watch the humidity drop.  The Dehumidifier-indicator turns off when the humidity finally drops back down to 40.0%.  But the humidifier won't come on until the humidity drops to 39%.  So, the humidifier and dehumidifier can't come on at the same time.

I just checked -- there is a setting for Humidity Set, which is shared by the humidifier and the dehumidifier.  There are 'not' separate humidity settings for the humidifier and dehumidifier.  So there's no setting that will allow both to come on at the same time.

On a tangent, I keep purchasing digital hygrometers.  The latest pair of hygrometers that I purchased match the half dozen old hygrometers I've purchased over the years from different manufacturers, so I'm pretty confident in their readouts.  Out of the box, the Inkbird needed to be set to 34% to regulate the humidity in the room to 40%.  The Inkbird has a setting to adjust its readout to match your hygrometers, which is fantastic.  Adjusting the offset is as easy as setting the humidity level -- once you get past the Chinese instructions which are written terribly and are occasionally plain wrong.  In my case, since the humidity was regulating beautifully, I didn't get around to bothering to adjust the offset until after using the Inkbird for few weeks.

Question 3

will it shut off when humidity is too low and turn on when it is too high vise versa ?

It is set on a particular humidity and then set with a variation that you can change for the high and low activation. With the high setting attached to a dehumidifier and the low setting attached to a humidifier it switches automatically between them to hold a humidity range at the set point

What setting does my humidifier go on to have the inkbird work properly for a 35% rh  with a 5% range ?  do i set my humidifier to run for more rh ?

I suggest you  review the directions and check forums/youtube for other users that have used this model. The 5% listed is how much leeway it gives before kicking on/off, that can be changed to a lower percentage to increase the response of the system. So if you are set for your LOW Humidity point at 35% with 5% leeway means it could reach ~ 30% before starting the humidifier and may get as high as 5% over your max humidity settting.  I am not going to recap the entire manual here, but I hope that helps you  with your settings.  As a side not setting the response percentage too low, or delay time to low can cause increase wear and tear on your system with rapid on then off repetitions to maintain a small percentage range.
