USA based “Bird-X” has an amazing wide variety of excellent products, so it took some work to narrow down the best product for my needs: – The “Ultrason X” (USX) model was chosen because it meet all my requirements, and the Amazon price is 46% off List. It is the lowest-priced Bird-X 4-speaker system. – WHY I CHOSE THE 4-SPEAKER SYSTEM? Ultrasonic signals quicky dissipate in air, refract (scatter) and attenuate (reduce) upon contact with a medium (tree branches and leaves). - Four-speakers allow projection into the canopy from multiple directions improving potential effectiveness. ----------------------------------------------- <> DETERMINING THE RIGHT PRODUCT - I reviewed the Bird-X data for all products, created a spreadsheet with viable products, the list prices and the Amazon prices, etc. – THE SPREADSHEET - I included the product features such as: - The modes of repelling, and critters the model would repel. - 1 or 4 Speakers, Power Source, and Mounting Type. <> MY NEEDS - Drive away Dove’s and Squirrels. - Location to deter, the tree canopy over my driveway. - Problem to solve: Bird poop on cars. Tree sap from squires crewing up Cypress balls. - Always on. No motion Sensors. - Do not need programable features, timers, etc. - Ultrasonic only needed, no audible predator calls. - 120 VAC, no batteries or solar. ----------------------------------------------- <> BIRD-X HQ – Bird-X is a USA company based in Illinois. – WARRANTY - I suggest buying the added Amazon Warranty protection because the manufacturer’s warranty is only 6 months. (the short warranty makes me question durability) – INSTALLATION – Please read and follow the Installation Instructions. – CABLE INSTALL INTO CONTROLLER HOUSING The housing has only one small split-grommeted hole which is not big enough to put any cord through. HOWEVER - Remove the grommet, insert each cord one-at-a-time through the hole, then wrap the grommet back around the cords, and re-insert the grommet into the hole. – POWER SUPPLY - The wall transformer is small, so low power requirements, however, it is a wall-mount type transformer, as such, you may need a short-cord extender to plug it into your power source. – SPEAKER CORDS – coiled in a way that they unroll without tangling (of you take your time). The cords come secured with 2 double twist-tie wraps, which keeps the integrity of the coil, and makes it easy to re-secure the remainder of the coil. – MINIMAL PACKAGING - Boxed in lightweight cardboard with doubled-wall inner-sleeve. Individual items are not wrapped or boxed (except the power supply). A bubble-wrap layer separates the controller from the speakers. – SUPPORT - The free Bird-X support was helpful in finding the product to meet my needs, and encouraged purchasing through Amazon. – CLOSING NOTE - This listing will be revised after observations on the effectiveness of driving off the Birds and Squirrels, and how it affects my Cats and the stray cats, will also see if territory marking stops.

I had an infestation of common house sparrows and was at wit's end trying to figure out what to do. I'm a writer, and need quiet to ply that trade. House sparrows are blessed with arguably the most annoying chirp of any bird that flies, and my bunch felt they had a mission from God to perch at my window and irritate me to the point of tearing what little hair I've got left on my head - never mind the mess they left behind! I purchased this gadget based on its written promises to rid the planet of all things 'avian.' Bogus. Yes, it does indeed broadcast a truly impressive ultra-high frequency sound wave, but instead of shooing away the little pests, it ATTRACTED them! The next morning I actually had pigeons perching on the table with this thing (note that I have NEVER had pigeons at my house or any problem with their species. I then picked up two of the speakers and pointed them directly at a dove pecking on the ground less than 10 feet away - it just looked at me like I was stupid and kept right on feeding, and I'm not making this up or embellishing my account. There were birds flying over to see it instead of running away. I turned it off and cleaned up the bird poo, then sent it back. With the neighbor's permission on both sides of my house, I climbed up and stapled fiberglass mesh over evey hole on their roofs; yanking out the sparrow nests and mess. I then purchased a "Deluxe Repeating Sparrow Trap" available at [...]. Folks, this thing WORKS - and I mean it! I've never seen the like for doing exactly what it says it will do, and that is to trap live any and every one of the little monsters (the inventor/owner explains several methods to get rid of the sparrows). I stopped counting after 35! It also caught two Desert Wrens and one small Dove - which I released. The price is reasonable and you will be impressed with the number of highly satisfied customers who have taken the time to write and praise this product. Ahhhh, quiet! Works well when positioned correctly, Must be connected to speaker which are not included.

My work installed these after we had an infestation of crows & baby crows, pigeons and sparrows. It runs every 10 minutes through a variety of bird sounds. No more birds. Just wish it wasn't so expensive so my employer would buy more and install it in other areas with bird problems.
