Exactly What I Was Looking For
I have wanted an excellent quality round Belgian Waffle Iron for a while. Unable to find one locally, I started researching them on Amazon and I read almost every review and product specification of each one listed here. I also visited the website of each of the manufacturers. This was the one I finally settled on and I have been so excited awaiting it's arrival! (Thanks to each of you for taking the time to give your opinion of your the waffle iron you purchased) A couple of times I thought "nothing is ever as good as it claims to be so I need to be prepared to be disappointed". But just the opposite is true - it has exceeded all my expectations! I used it for the first time this morning and the results were fantastic. You can tell that it's good quality when you first pick it up - it's sturdily built with the heftiness you would expect. It comes with a nice little instruction booklet (I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was written by someone whose first language is English) including a couple of recipes and detailed instructions on the use of the product. The controls were a major deciding factor on my purchase. They are well engineered and elevated at the rear of the iron so that if you happen to overfill the base, the overflow can't get into them and gum up the works. But you won't have a problem if you follow the directions in your booklet and if you make your batter thick enough. You can control the crispness as well as the darkness of your waffle and believe it or not, all of the controls (including the timer) are ACCURATE! The waffles are done in almost no time. The green light comes on to tell you when they're done but you don't have to stand there and watch because the timer also beeps. And while loud enough to be heard above my radio in the kitchen, the sound was not annoying. When you're finished cooking just let the iron cool down and wipe it out with a paper towel. For storage the cord wraps neatly and fastens securely in the track provided on the bottom so the iron can stand vertically to take up less space. Also, I like the way that the lid is on a floating hinge so the waffle has more room to rise but still gets evenly browned. I did find something while researching this product that I think is worth mentioning. While I really don't think it will have any adverse effect on the purchase of this product, it seems that they are phasing-out the Chef's Choice brand. Apparently they are now calling all the Chef's Choice products by the manufacturer's name - Edgecraft (for example: Edgecraft 830B WafflePro Classic Belgian Waffle Maker). However, the products themselves still have "Chef's Choice" printed on them. They seem to have made some superficial changes to the design (the obvious one was that the irons now have a ridged instead of a smooth lid) and they have raised the prices but as far as I can tell it's still the same product - the specifications are all still the same. It has just been within this last week that they have started to implement the change and as of right now the style that I bought is still the one shown on their website. It may or may not take a while until the phase-out is complete so if you are looking for a good waffle iron, I highly recommend you take the plunge and buy this one before you have to pay more for the redesign.

Outstanding for making thin waffles
Five stars because for what it is, it is excellent. But it makes thin waffles that are not by any means Belgian. Pros: After one oiling before the first use, the nonstick surface works perfectly. Waffles lift off effortlessly. The drip guard and exterior plastic are 100% easy to clean. This appliance doesn't appear to have any of those odd little corners that get gross over time because of the impossibility of cleaning them. The two settings (crispy throughout or crispy exterior) actually cook the waffles differently, and you can switch between them as you go. The browning control fine-tunes the done-ness, and so far has given very reproducible results. So on the cooking and cleaning fronts, it's a great little gadget. Con: I've posted a picture showing that these waffles are only 1/2" thick. We got some of the Golden batter recommended by other reviewers (and it's tasty and totally easy to use), but were also looking forward to playing with lots of our own recipes. These waffles have so little volume - what's missing especially is that thick space between where all the pockets come together - that I'm not sure we'll be able to detect any differences in texture or crispiness, no matter what we do. The waffles cooked by the two crispiness settings do come out different from one another, but there's no real 'matrix' to the inside part; it's just too thin to have its own character. Conclusion: If you love to play in the kitchen and are looking forward to treating your waffles like the next baking challenge, or if you love the deep pockets of Belgian waffles and want those separate crispy and soft textures, this is not a great maker. But if you want quick, reliably tasty waffles that come rapidly off an easy-to-clean maker this is a great choice.

Great waffle maker at a great price
Our family had been looking for a waffle maker to replace the one lost during a recent move. We did not want one of the high-end pro models, but we did want a good appliance. The Chaf's Choice 8308 WafflePro looked like the right product with all the features we wanted. After using it for the past month or two we have found this waffle maker to be reliable, producing a crisp golden waffle. The timer is a great asset and assures a great waffle. The convenient way that it stores on its side, with the cord wrapped on the bottom, is a big plus.

Perfect waffles every time
I am in love with this miracle device. My old waffle maker took forever to heat up and waffles always stuck to it and came out hard and dry. Who knew this is how a waffle maker is supposed to function! What is not to like about this little device? It is compact, light as a feather, heats up fast and the waffles come out perfect every time. Even recipes that are difficult to pull off, like gluten-free vegan waffles, get people to roll their eyes, as in OMG-these-are-so-good. My favorite setting is the crispy outside and soft inside button, which bakes the waffles super fast and yields a wonderful soft and moist result. Just wait for the beep, it opens up without that stuck feeling and the waffles lift off easily, no sticking.

Been using this for years since I bought it. It works like a charm, is light and easy to move around and it has a light and dark setting which comes in handy depending on what kind of waffles you feel like and if you plan on topping it with lots of fixings. I recommend this one to my friends!

Bought this as a gift because I already had my own and love it. I like the "darkness" setting and the signal when waffles are done. It's loud enough to hear from another room. The non-stick surface works well as long as you brush a little oil on both griddles for the first waffle each time you use it. Subsequent waffles do not need oil.

I would definitely buy this product again as it works great and I haven't had any problems or issues with it. The handle does get a little hot so be careful when opening and the two different settings are pretty useless. Also, the preheated beep and the beep when the waffles are done is overly loud and long and I wish there was a way to turn it off or down. For the price of this product I would definitely recommend, especially as I like thinner waffles and not belgian waffles. If you like those big thick belgian waffles, look for a different machine as this one makes waffles about half the thickness of a traditional belgian waffle.

Quite flexible unit: your choice of crispy outside/tender inside or uniform texture throughout, and a wide range of "colour" options. I'd prefer if it could make slightly larger waffles, but then it wouldn't as been as convenient for storage. While I understand they didn't do it, it would be far easier to clean if you could remove the plates.

I read some reviews about this waffle iron and even though some people didnโt like it, I found that it worked very well and made perfect waffles. Iโve used it once but very happy with the results.
