Great printer, buy the cheap ink
I love this printer, we are homeschoolers and this printer has served us well! The first time we bought it, we had it for about a year and a half and the electronic component died. I was pretty sad since it was such a great printer. I contacted Canon on Facebook and they were very responsive and helpful. I did a ton of research on printers and in the end I bought this printer again. There are some features we don't fully utilize, like scanning and photo printing. Pros: 1) There is VERY inexpensive off-brand ink that works really well in this printer (see potential con for this). This is by far the most cost efficient printer for ink. Arthur Ink is only $26 for 28 cartridges: 28 Pack Arthur Imaging Compatible Ink Cartridge Replacement for 250XL 251XL (12 Large Black, 4 Small Black, 4 Cyan, 4 Yellow, 4 Magenta, 28-Pack) Canon Ink is $35 for the color cartridges and $15 for black (trust me, it's cheaper to buy it this way, the pack with color and black is $52 and who uses them at the same rate?) Canon CLI-251 CYAN,MAGENTA,YELLOW Ink, Compatible to MX922,MG7520,MG7120,MG6620,MG5620,iP8720,MG6420,MG6320 and MG5420 2) In 2 years I have had one paper jam, and it turned out that I had messed up the paper tray when I loaded the paper the first time when I got my second printer. 3) WIFI and phone printing are AMAZING! 4) Set up is so easy and maintenance is a breeze 5) Auto feed for the scanner and copier makes life so much easier 6) As homeschoolers, I love having an unlimited supply of kids handwriting paper, graph paper, and list templates 7) I recently discovered that I need glasses, but I could still read the screen on the printer even before I got my glasses Cons: 1) Can't print from Chromebook 2) Using off-brand ink will void any warrantees (this is the case for any printer, but since the cheap ink is SUCH a pro, I feel I need to mention this). After doing the math, we save at least $46 per month using the cheaper ink ($50 for Canon versus about $4 for Arthur Ink, if we were only to change each cartridge once - which is unlikely). That's enough to just replace the printer in a few months if anything were to happen. 3) Instructions tell you to reset your entire wireless system, it caused chaos the first time we did it. Use caution! 4) Tons of people report their electronic systems dying, sometimes as soon as a year after purchase. A warrantee (or extended warrantee) will cover it, but only if you use Canon's expensive ink. We decided at this price point it is worth the money to have the printer for 1 to 5 years and save the money on ink to reinvest into another printer (which ended up being this printer again). I am hoping printer #2 lasts longer than 18 months, but we are prepared if not. So many other printers on the market have ink that is cost prohibitive this really is the best one for the money.

Highly recommended!
I have not had any issues with this printer! I have ours totally on WiFi and have never hooked it to the PC. Another reviewer mentioned that you need to "manually" find your WiFi SSID and type out the password, so that is what I did as well. Apparently there may be an issue with WiFi WPS auto connect where It will not let you get connected to Google Cloud Print. I did NOT use this feature! There is a Google app called Canon Easy Photo Print (EPP) for your android that is just super simple and it works well, so Google Cloud print is almost not needed. Once it "attached" itself to my secure WiFi, all PC's, Android devices on the network recognized it, so super easy! Installed the program on main PC from the provided disc without any issues. I will say that I never had to read any instructions (which is amazing!) to get this thing "hooked" up to our network or to use the software! If you can read the LCD display window on the printer, make a few decisions and press a button a few times, insert a cd into your computer, read, make a few decisions, click a mouse a few times, you are golden! First thing I printed was a picture off of my Galaxy S4 using the above mentioned APP. It was a lot quicker than our older Kodak ESP7 and the picture looked very nice printed on Canon GlossyII paper. Next was the auto document feader (ADF) to scan to the PC. Scanning is very important to us as most every important document ends up in one our our RAID drives. From the PC software you have a bunch of choices for scanning which is super nice, good job Canon! I loaded documents into the ADF, went to the PC, chose both sided (duplex) scan, chose a RAID drive as a destination, selected a quality, B&W / Color, etc. Then start. It did take a while for the duplex part to shuffle it around, but a huge improvement over our old ESP7 which was manual load every page. Now I could chase kids around, goof around, drink some coffee, enjoy life a bit more! Scan complete, everything ended up super clear, sharp, pages in order with little effort on my part. If you operate a busy office and expect to have fast production in scanning or copying, then this printer is NOT for you. If you have a bit more relaxed schedule like mine for home use it is great. We turn our printer completely off after each use, so it does take about 30 seconds or so to "warm up." All copies and print outs look really good and are printed in a reasonable time. We use the cheapest paper we can find and everything looks really nice! I suspect the quality would be better with a better quality paper? It is not laser printer fast, nor dot matrix line printer slow, again if you are running production and looking for speed, this is NOT for you! It does need to do the typical ink jet printer cycling thingy which is on average with other ink jets I have used, faster than most older printers including our old ESP7, I suspect slower that some more $$$ units? The only gripe I have is pretty small potato's! When you scan it will save it to a .pdf file which is good, but you cannot crop and or adjust it before it is saved. Kodak software allowed you to see the image, make adjustments, crop size, THEN save all the changes into the final scan. Canon could make a software / firmware update for this! We have no use for the FAX so I cannot review this! I will mention that I am more comfortable using computer software, I have built our main PC from the ground up, so if you don't have a clue about these things, it may not go as smooth for you. I would recommend asking that geek friend of yours to lend a helping hand, but once set up, it will be very easy to maintain and use. PROS: Decent (average) price for this unit. If you can read, you can use it! Individual ink cartridges are reasonable priced and easy to replace. Holds lots of paper & photo paper. WiFi means you can place it anywhere, including a closet, just need power! Easily print pictures from your smart phone via WiFi. ADF means no more manually loading papers for scan/copy. Duplex ADF and print. Can print on printable CD's. Software gives you many many choices for all functions! There is a "Quiet Time" setting from within the software to cut back on noise during sleepy times. CONS: Not enough speed for high production office settings. You cannot get firmware updates via WiFi, Canon, you need to fix this! Software could have minor tweaks. Unit is on the bigger side, could be slimmed down a bit. I highly recommend this printer for light to medium home use, it has proven to be a good investment for our family!

Great Printer....When It Will Connect With The Router
Bought this printer several months ago and was impressed with its performance for about 3 weeks. Then unexpectedly, the wireless connection was terminated. I followed the manual instructions for reconnection and it worked just fine again...until the printer went to sleep and once again the wireless connection was terminated and would not reconnect. This same scenario has now been going on for almost 6 weeks with the printer working long enough to print a few documents and then not able to connect or even recognize my router. I tried quite a few things over and over including manually entering the routers password, cold booting the computer, modem, router and printer. Resetting the printer's settings back to default and uninstalling and reinstalling the printer's drivers and software to no avail. I spent countless hours researching every article and every forum discussion I could find on the topic and discovered that others experienced the same problem, but had found no solution. One person said they had called the router's tech support and was told it was a problem with the Canon MX922 configuration and then called the printer's tech support and was told it was the router's configuration. So guess who got caught in the middle with a printer that won't print wirelessly (this printer has worked fine with a wired connection)? The next thing I did was to admit defeat, so I too broke down and called the router's tech support. They asked me if I had other wireless devices such as phones and a computer that was connected to the router, which I do have and they work just fine. They informed me that it was a problem on the printer's side...not the router because the router obviously works for those other devices. My response was to ask the question, "Is it possible that the router is not configured correctly for the printer?" But that question basically fell on deaf ears. They did say they could connect me with a pay service with no guarantee that a solution would be found. But pay for service on a device under $100 just doesn't make a lot of sense since I can now buy one for around $50. On to the next possibility. I called Canon for their assistance. I will say that the young lady I talked with was extremely courteous and quite knowledgeable. Much more so than the routers tech support which seem scripted and delivered by someone with a very low voice and with an accent that I had a hard time understanding. But again, all of the hoops the Canon tech had me jump through didn't get me any closer to solving the problem. She did, however, say one thing that gave me hope. She said that the printer is designed to run on a router with 2.4 GHz single band. I have a dual band 2.4 GHz/5 GHz router. So today I have gone back into the router's settings and disabled the 5 GHz frequency settings. The Canon tech said that the printer may have connected and worked while it was in the 2.4 GHz mode, but many comments I have read say that the router will often times choose to connect at the higher 5 GHz setting even if the lower 2.4 GHz setting is stronger. That might explain why I am sometimes able to connect for a little while and then not able to connect a little later. I say all of this so if you have a dual band router, you may want to consider another printer, or realize you may have to get a different router if you expect this Canon MX922 to work properly. The problem may very well be specific to my particular brand and model router, I really don't know. If the changes I have made to my router's setting disabling the 5 GHz settings work for the next couple of weeks, I will post a follow up to these comments. I hope that others with dual band routers that are using this printer successfully will comment to the affirmative. It is not my intent to shoot down or bad mouth a product because I am not tech savvy enough to solve the problem myself. When this printer is working, it does a very good job with good print quality and it is fast enough for most peoples needs. But in this day and age, when a new piece of equipment is not designed to intuitively connect as it is supposed to, it is hard to give a more favorable recommendation. UPDATE: It didn't take long to test the changes I made to the router's configuration by disabling the 5 GHz frequency. The printer will simply not stay connected wirelessly to the router. Because of that, I have downgraded my rating from a 2 star to a 1 star. Sad to say, but I have given up trying to use this printer on a network. I have now have the printer wired directly to my computer, which wouldn't be so bad, but now my wife cannot use the printer remotely and this means I will have to buy another printer for her. I could have saved myself quite a bit of money by buying a wired printer to begin with.

A MUST READ REVIEW IF SERIOUSLY IN THE MARKET FOR A GREAT QUALITY ALL-IN-ONE HOME OFFICE PRODUCT
This is my first review on any product on Amazon, this review will be on the Canon PIXMA MX922 Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax . After reading almost 75 reviews this will be focusing on the reviews with 1-2 stars. First to the complaints on the wireless air-print from Ios or Android, if you setup the printer using WPS your phone will never pick up the printer or will appear offline. You have to select WLAN Setup from Menu on the printer then select other setup options on the LCD screen then select standard setup and find your router then select and type in your password then connect. Also you have to make sure your phone is on the same channel, so especially if you have a dual-band router and your phone is on the 5ghz channel and the printer is on the 2.4ghz channel you will also run into problems. So every thing has to be on same channel, phone on 2.4ghz then the printer has to be on 2.4ghz channel then you will have absolutely no problems printing from your phone. Then with the complaints about noise there is a Quit mode selection in the menu when turned on it reduced all printer noise by at least 75%. Now to the ink consumption this printer is one of the best in the simple fact that if one of your cartridges runs out it will continue to print. Also the printer by default will print even all Black and White documents in the color setting because it brings a better quality this can simply be changed in your printer settings in your control panel to Black and White so most regular text documents will use the XXL cartridge which lasts for ever. With this setting changed if the page has color it stills prints in color.Compared to other printers when one cartridge runs out the printer will not continue to print until the ink cartridge is changed. The Canon PIXMA MX922 is one of the best printers I've used regarding ink, as a plus you can buy a color and XXL Black cartridge set from Amazon for a total of $60. As far as the scanner and copier go's it is one of the best I've used on a printer under $200. Have not had a chance to use the Fax so I can't reply in this review on that subject. One of the few downfalls of this printer is the size it really is a rather large printer compared to other all in one printers in it's class so take that into consideration. Photos are absolutely beautiful when used with Cannon Pro Platinum photo paper at 4x6 100 sheets for $20 on Amazon. As far as setup and install program wise it's pretty much standard procedure. I've had the printer for about two weeks now and really I am so impressed for only $99. To those saying about break downs well with the SquareTrade 3-Year Electronics Protection Plan ($75-100) for only $14.20 how can you go wrong? There is another slight downside if you don't have a router or wireless access the printer doesn't come with the USB cable to direct connect, but one can be purchased on Amazon for $5.49 the Mediabridge USB 2.0 - A Male to B Male Cable (10 Feet) - High-Speed with Gold-Plated Connectors - Black. For those people giving this printer 1-2 stars it really is not their fault they are just ignorant to technology. Throwing off people into second guessing in purchasing this amazing piece of home all in one equipment. The auto 35 page duplex is also so time saving and conserves so much on paper consumption. I really hope this review finds people who are interested in purchasing this machine. The VERY few downsides like the USB and shear size is the only reason I didn't give this product a 5 star rating. I hope this review was helpful in letting you disregard the people giving this product 1-2 stars. Thanks for taking the time to read a real review!

This is one of the best bang for your buck electronics you can buy! JUST BUY IT!
I originally bought this printer just so I had a way to occasionally print color accented documents (flyers, signs, etc.). My primary printer is an HP laser printer but that just prints in black. This Canon printer is AMAZING for the price! It uses four small ink cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) and one large black ink cartridge (the larger black cartridge is used when you are just printing regular documents that don't need color). The cartridges that come with the printer say "SETUP" on them so I suspect they are not quite as full of ink as the replacements you buy. As is always the case with inkjet printers the ink is fairly expensive and doesn't last nearly as long as a toner cartridge in a laser printer would, but I find them to be acceptable. I was able to print 30 or so full page color flyers/photos at the highest setting before one of the initial cartridges needed to be replaced. As I'm sure you've already read the printer can do both black and white and color copies. I've used this quite a bit as it's a very handy feature if you just need a copy every now and then (don't use it for high volume or you'll go bankrupt on ink!). The copy speed is fast even for color copies. I have the printer sitting across the room from my computer desk on it's own little table. The nice thing about it being wireless is that you literally just plug in the power cord and you're done. It will work from anywhere in your house without additional cables from your router or computer. The only other cable you may need to connect is a telephone line if you plan on using the fax features. Since I rarely use the fax portion I just plug in a long telephone cable whenever I need to send a fax and then unplug the telephone cable when I'm done. The printer has two trays on the front. The lower tray holds regular sized paper and can just be left full with plain paper. If you want to print a large sheet of photo paper you can just sit it on top of the plain paper so it gets fed into the printer next. For smaller pieces of paper such as 4x6" photo paper you can use the top tray. There is also a CD tray that allows you to print labels directly on CDs or DVDs that have a printable surface. Another neat thing with this printer is that the front paper output tray can be left closed when not in use. This way dust isn't settling on the tray or getting inside the printer. As soon as you go to print something the tray will automatically flip down so there is a place for the paper to go after it has been printed. THE BEST FEATURE: I've saved the best for last. THE SCANNER! This printer is worth the price even if you never print anything from it! I would buy it for the scanner alone! Since it's wireless you don't need to attach it to your computer. Just lift the lid, place whatever you want to scan inside, and then connect to the scanner from your computer. This is a very nice convenience as I was used to having to plug a USB scanner into my laptop every time I wanted to scan something. Now I don't have to mess with any wires or move the scanner or laptop to be near each other. When you place multiple photos or other documents on the scanner at the same time the scanner will automatically recognize the borders of each document and scan them to separate files. This is a very nice time-saving feature when you are scanning large amounts of old photos. Just place as many photos as you can fit at a time on the scanner and they will all become separate image files with one pass of the scanner! The feature that has spoiled me the most is the sheet feeder. In the past I would have to individually scan pages of a document if I wanted to create a PDF. Many times I would be scanning 10-20 page contracts and would have to insert each page, wait for the scanner to scan, click a button on the screen, then insert the next page, and so on until the entire document was scanned. With this Canon scanner you simply place the ENTIRE document in the sheet feeder on top and with one click it scans all the pages and creates a PDF file (and very quickly at that!). This has saved me so much time and frustration! This printer is a STEAL for the price! I look at it as a great scanner that just happens to come with a free printer and fax machine!

* Valuable Tips and Pointers! *
I have had this printer for almost 2-1/2 years now. I figured it was finally time to share my insights. I have had a lot of frustration with this printer but have kept it for a few reasons that I'll share with you in a moment. First of all, here is the reason why I only gave this 3 stars. Reason #1: Shortly after I purchased this, I received an error saying "Another computer is using this printer". This was strange because we only had one computer. I struggled to clear this off and finally called tech support. They walked me through a series of steps that I'm very grateful to have written down at the time. I would recommend you do the same with the directions I'm about to share, if you decide to purchase this printer... or already have one. Here's how to fix the error on a Windows OS: "Another computer is using this printer." 1. Click the Windows key + R 2. Type in "Services.msc" . This will open up a window titled "Services". 3. Scroll down until you find "Print Spooler" 4. Right click on that and select "Stop". * Leave this window open because you will need it again in a minute. 5. Click the Windows key + R again. 6. Type in "Spool" 7. This will open a window called "Spool" (go figure). Double click on the "Printers" folder. 8. Highlight and delete everything inside of this folder. 9. Close out of the "Spool" window and return to the "Services" window. 10. Find the "Print Spooler" option on the list and right click on it. Select "Start". This should restart the error message and allow you to print again. So the main reason I did not rate this 5 stars is because of this repeated error. I get it on the regular and the longer I've had it, the more frequent I get it. Lucky for me, these steps fix the problem for the time being. Reason #2: The printer is flippin' LOUD and it takes a while for it to get warmed up. If it has been sitting there for longer than a couple of hours, it runs itself back and forth thinking for about 5 minutes prior to actually printing anything. Here's why I would rate this printer 3 stars. Reason #1: When I purchased it, it was only $67. That was cheaper than the INK from my last printer. So if it sucked, no harm no foul. Reason #2: This printer works and prints basic pages, nicely. I don't use it to print photos or anything extravagant so I can't rate it based on that. However, I have used it to print every day documents and have printed on envelopes and small cards. I don't use the fax or scan features because I have other means of doing those things. Reason #3: I have found a cheaper alternative to the Canon brand ink. It's only $16 for a 12-pack and they work just as good as any other expensive ink. So this earned a star from me because it's the cheapest printer I've bought, and the cheapest ink to refill. Here's a link to the one I use: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073SMN6GZ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 All in all, this printer works alright. It's not free from faults but it has lasted me 2-1/2 years. So I can't say it was a bad purchase. I would recommend it if you are patient and are looking for something simple and cheap.

STOP LOOKING!! You Found It!!
My wife and I recently started up our own business selling our handmade leather goods and we needed a printer for printing out customers' invoices, shipping labels, "Thank You" letters, and so on. I'll admit, it's been at LEAST 5 years since I owned a printer, so I had NO idea where to even begin. I knew we needed something professional, wireless, and reasonable in the way of cost, as we have literally spent nearly all of our savings starting up our small business. I had never had a wireless printer before, so the thought of setting it up was intimidating to me. I had no idea how to go about doing that! Enter Canon PIXMA MX922: When it showed up, I was a little surprised at its size. It's a pretty large printer, but I was ALL about that. I figured that meant this thing was gonna be a BOSS when it came to what we needed it for. It came with very detailed instructions, and even ALL of the ink cartridges as well. The details were so great, it ended up being a snap setting it up to our wireless access point! Before we knew it, it was in full-on work mode. It literally took maybe 10 minutes at MOST to unbox, set it where we wanted, and get it connected to our wireless accent point and begin our printing. This printer has a LOT of features, all of which are amazing! This is definitely the best printer I've EVER had, and I'm so glad I went with my gut on this one based on the reviews and its popularity on Amazon. I can't believe the price it was either! Under $100.00?! It looks like it'd be a $500.00 printer! It's not only great as far as printing, scanning, and all of the rest of the things it's supposed to do, but it also looks SHARP, too! If you're in the market for a new printer, and want easy set-up, high quality and super fast printing to get your tasks done, and even have it look nice wherever you decide to put it, then look no further! I decided to get the combo deal with the extra ink cartridges, so I won't have to worry about needing to replace the ink for a while. Definitely worth it. It also showed up extremely fast, well packaged, and without a single flaw. So, take it from a guy who hasn't had the luxury of a printer for a while, you're going to LOVE this printer! Stop looking, and get this one! You won't find a better one, especially at this price! Thank you, Canon! I feel one more step closer to completely owning and operating my own business. And one more thing: Since getting this printer, I've printed out over 100 2 page invoices, several leather patterns, and I STILL haven't run out of the ink the printer originally came with. This is a GREAT deal!

I should have bought this printer months ago
UPDATE** I've now had this printer about 20 months and it is without question the BEST printer I have ever owned. I am not a heavy printer user but when I do print, I often print many pages. I wish I knew how many pages I've actually printed because it would be helpful in analyzing actual ink usage. I have only had to replace all of the cartridges one time in 20 months. I'm going to estimate that I've used about 750 pages. I'm using low-cost generic inks and they have produced excellent quality for both photographic paper and regular printer paper. Print speed is fast while printing but it sometimes takes several minutes to get set up before it actually starts. If there's a problem with this printer, that is the only one I have found. I've used most of the big name printers such as HP, Epson, Brother, et al, most of them more expensive than this printer, but none of them have matched Cannon in in quality of printing and ease of use. I will be buying Cannon, again. After struggling with a terrible Epson 2650 for 18 months, I finally gave up and bought Canon Pixma MX922 and I couldn't be happier. Installation was intuitive and straight forward; its print quality is outstanding for routine printing and superior for photographs. While Canon recommends using their inks, it will handle lower cost generic inks without a corporate subterfuge to force you to use proprietary ink. That was a major problem with the Epson which would only accept cartridges with approved serial numbers that had never been used in that machine. In fact, the Epson "ink police system" actually stopped recognizing a cartridge while it was still full and working thus forcing the unnecessary purchase of an outrageously expensive replacement. If there's a problem with the Canon it is that it will not allow you to continue printing with an empty cartridge except one of the two black cartridges. But that is minor compared to all the problems I dealt with every day with the Epson. Generic inks are very reasonably priced and get good reviews. In the 45 days I've had the Canon, I've encountered NONE of the frustrations I encountered daily while I owned the Epson. When the Canon arrived, I removed all of the cartridges from the Epson and gave them to my wife whose Epson is still working (her second one) in hopes that we can salvage some of over $150 in ink cartridges I had to buy to keep the Epson working. I then drove the Epson to Office Depot, put it on a counter and walked out. I hope they spent hours trying to figure out what that was all about. One thing for sure, Canon has a new fan and Epson and Office Depot have lost a good customer. The Canon cost about 40% less than I originally paid for the Epson but it's about 15% more expensive that Amazon's current price for the Epson. I guess Epson's reputation has brought the price down. I should have junked the Epson after the first month of ongoing problems.

Primeras Impresiones: buenas

Don't buy this printer as no warranty or installation is provided
Hey People, please don't buy this printer. It's an international product. There is no installation or warranty. I have bought it 2 months ago and struggling to install it.The dealer refused to take the printer back and am stuck with a printer that can't be used.. Unfortunately, I did not see any bad review's when I purchased this printer in April 2018. I am stuck with this printer, as I was unaware that this product is not available in India and will not cover warranty. Amazon did not specify on their portal that it is a US make. I struggled for more than a 2 weeks requesting Canon / Amazon to send a technician to install the drivers. Only after several calls, mails did Canon identify that the serial number does not match with the products available in India and they will not be able to support us in anyway. I tried returning the printer to Amazon but they did not accept at it had past the 1 week return period. I did put a claim as well to no avail. As Canon or Amazon did not support me, I requested an IT person to install the printer for which we had to pay additional charges, it worked for some time, and now the printer has stopped working. I have sent it to one of the Canon dealer for repairs and they are unable to support me. PEOPLE PLEASE BE AWARE AND NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. I HAVE GONE THROUGH A LOT OF TRAUMA DUE TO THIS AS THIS WAS PURCHASED FOR THE OFFICE AND DUE TO THE WRONG CHOICE I HAVE GOT INTO DEEP TROUBLE WITH MY SUPERIORS. - A FRIENDLY ADVISE - A BIG NO TO CANON PRINTERS

Buena impression, pero los cartuchos de tinta son caros y se cosumen rapidamente. velocidad media, versatlilidad media. muy voluminosa, poco ruido.

I'm very disappointed with this purchase
I'm very disappointed with this purchase. I hope I can save others he misfortune of buying this printer. 1. If your buying it in India, you need to buy a separate adapter to downconvert voltage. 2. If you have a newer edition Mac, chances are your won't have a CD Rom, which means you can't install drivers and print from your computer. 3. This seems to be a discontinued piece. Online support is minimal and flaky. 4. Performance is lame. It takes too long to print simple documents. Starting up takes forever. But, once you print one document it's slightly faster. 5. If you're in Chennai, India, there no product service or support. Edit: I have used this printer for only a year now and used original cartridges and now it's completely stopped working. Complete dud! Don't buy.
