Product Description Cartoon Network: Classic Ben 10 Season 1 (DVD)Ben Tennyson was just an average 10-year-old kid until he discovered a strange alien watch in a crashed meteorite. Called the Omnitrix, this watch gives Ben the ability to transform into any of 10 alien heroes, all the while keeping his 10-year-old personality.]]> desertcart.com Average kid Ben Tennyson becomes a host of alien-fighting superheroes with the help of an extraterrestrial device in Ben 10, an engaging and kid-friendly animated series that arrives on DVD with a smattering of extras for series devotees. Ben 10's basic premise resembles the 1960s and 1980s DC Comic title Dial H for Hero, with affable teen Ben discovering an alien device called the Omnitrix after it crashes on Earth. The Omnitrix gives Ben the power to transform into ten different and powerful alien heroes, each with their own specific super powers. Ben's discovery of the device attracts the attention of evil space warrior Vilgax, who wants it for his own universe-conquering purposes. Episodes are divided between Ben tangling with Vilgax and his crew of monstrous henchmen, and Ben's struggles to fight crime with the Omnitrix, which occasionally malfunctions and summons the wrong hero at the wrong time. Episode highlights include "Washington B.C.," in which scientist Dr. Amino mutates animals (including dinosaurs) into powerful monsters; "Hunted," with Ben battling a trio of interstellar bounty hunters sent by Vilgax; and "Kevin 11," about a maladjusted kid whose powers of energy absorption threaten to steal away the powers of the Omnitrix. All 13 episodes of the 2005-2006 debut season of Ben 10are included on this double-disc set; fans also get a lesson on how to draw Ben from artist Scooter Tidwell, and there's a commentary track on "Secrets" from creators/Man of Action members Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and writers Tramm Wigzell and Thomas Pugsley. Several of the commentary participants also contribute to a brief sneak preview of an upcoming season. -- Paul Gaita Review: Still good - I didn't grow up with Ben 10, but sometimes babysat a kid who watched it enough he wanted to be a superhero when he grew up. As an adult, I wanted to go back and see if it was any good, only to discover it's not really in circulation anymore, so I'm glad for desertcart letting me obtain a copy. I can say it's just as enjoyable to watch as an adult as it would've been for a kid. Part of that is because I have a brother like Ben, so I enjoy his character more. There's good humor, good animation, and unique storytelling, albeit a little episodic (as kid's shows usually are). Review: No ordinary kid, no ordinary cartoon - I came across this series when it was on Netflix and was hooked. As a fan of cartoons, I was blown away by how well crafted this series is, along with it's subsequent sequel series Alien Force and Ultimate Alien (not counting omniverse or the reboot series). This series is very well written and constructed overall, as it taps into that essential element for young kids that dream of being superheroes, here is ben Tennyson getting that chance largely by accident. I love how as the series progresses the mythology of the universe od this series builds and builds as we learn more about Grandpa max and his time as a 'plumber'. Ans also see Ben still be your typical 10 year old but also learn about doing the right thing and about his responsibilities, even when he isn't constantly bickering with his cousin Gwen. That was one thingbthatnalways kinda bothered me watching many of these epusodes back to back , hearing the sniping and bickering and gwen calling ben a dweeb a doofus a dork all the freaking time got really tiresome. Im grateful that by the time Alien Force was made they made the characters older and pretty much had the antagonism between Ben and Gwen replaced with genuine familial affection. Anyway, I loved how the people taht made this aeries were clearly comic book fans cu with the omnitrix and its abilities, it reminds one of tue Dial h for Hero, where the special dial allows the user to transform into different types of heroes for different types of situations. I especially love how Ben tries to go for one alien hero and ends up with a different one by mistake, which is funny but also Aids in teaching ben to think on his feet and make use of powers and abilities at his disposal. Also the fact that the omnitrix is green and even the symbol on the chest of each alien, and even the corps of plumbers being galactic defenders.and policemen, brings to mind the green lantern Corps. This first season sets the tone and also sets things in motion rather nicely.

We love
My husband is a huge Ben 10 fan. Can as was I when I was little. We’ve slowly been collecting all the movies and tv shows that we can, it came brand new in the case, not opened, not scratched, still sealed. My daughter loves these!

Fun to be had by all
You will enjoy Ben 10 and of course there's violence and all that in there. But it isnt something that you can't allow your kids to watch. I like the show's premise Ben finding an alien watch The Omnitrex and attaches itself to him and we are off on a ride full of aliens, robots, villians and everything else under the sun. Along with his grandpa and annoying cousing Gwen. They battle whatever comes there way and Ben does his part in style and sometimes by accidentally switching to the wrong monster. A water type on top of a mountain and no water in sight. The 13 episodes are engaging and entertaining along with the storytelling. I'm looking forward to season 2 and seeing how they've progressed since last we saw the characters. Recommended highly.

The reboot doesn't come close
How often do you see a kids' show that doesn't treat them like kids? Not often enough. It's a mark of a good kids show when you still enjoy it later on.

My son just turned 6 and was given loads of Ben 10 stuff. He had no idea who Ben 10 was though so I got him this DVD. He doesn't like it - I think it is probably a bit old for him so I have put it away for a bit. I thought it was pretty good though! There was no problem with the screen resolution - it filled our screen. It was all as expected really. Now I still have a house full of Ben 10 stuff that he doesn't want to play with yet!
