Women's Easy Reader Watch

UPDATE as of August 2025: Mom has been super happy with her watch over the last 9 months! It still looks nice, has withstood hand washing, no staining, hasn't turned color on her wrist and still works perfectly. It also hasn't needed a new battery yet! :) ORIGINAL: I bought this for my mom after she purchased a few really inexpensive watches that didn't perform well or last. I got her the 23mm, stainless steel, solid silver color, stretch band version. Mom is 88 and while, ideally, she would have a dainty, delicate little thing for her little bird bones, I got her the bigger face with easy-to-read numbers. She does find this one easy to read and the indiglo light really helps her out in the dark, which is something none of her previous watches had. I have no data to report on how well it stands up to scratches or how long the battery lasts since I just gave it to her, but it's a Timex and we're going off of the good reputation of the name. The battery came already installed and was easily activated by the removal of a little plastic piece that had held it in an inactive state so it didn't run down. She was easily able to set the time by herself and required no further instructions, as anything mechanical or electronic so often does for her these days. There was a lot of discussion about the wrist band size in the product reviews and I was quite concerned about how it would fit, based on the wildly varying reports of different variations of similar watches, whose reviews were all lumped together. She has a small, delicate, wrist and I wound up taking it to a kiosk at the mall and having 3 links removed, which cost $20. It seemed to be a difficult task, even for a supposedly experienced watch worker with the correct tools, so I'm glad I didn't try it myself. I got a nice sale price on the watch of $29.99 (from the regular listed price of $63, in December, 2024), and think it was well worth both the sale and full price, even adding in the cost of the band adjustment. Mom had wasted much more than that by purchasing several very inexpensive watches, trying to save a few dollars. Batteries ran down quickly, bands broke, she couldn't read the tiny numbers, they turned color and left stains on her wrist, didn't stand up to the water from hand washing, etc. Not as many people wear watches anymore, since most of us have cell phones in our hands most of the time. But if you have an elderly loved one who really misses having an analog watch (even though they have an emergency call device with a digital time readout on the other wrist, lol), just go ahead and pay more than $12 for this watch. The others don't last, aren't reliable, need difficult-to-replace batteries very fast, etc., and the cost of multiple cheap watches mounts quickly to more than you'd pay for a Timex. This one is well worth the money.

I love this watch and have had one for several years, but since this was at a price I could not resist, I bought another one for when my current one stops working. I like watches with actual numbers that I can easily read (not that I'm stupid, I just don't like to have to look at it a few times if it has Roman Numerals or just dashes or dots). Plus it lights up (I wear mine even to bed so if I wake up, I can easily tell what time it is as I don't keep a clock in my bedroom since I retired, it is comfortable enough for that). I like that it has a stretch band so I don't have to fumble with the watchband. I can no longer find this watch where I used to buy it, sometimes it online, but this price was unbeatable so I bought one because eventually the watchband, being stretchy, will wear out and it's sometimes cheaper to just buy a whole new watch rather than a band and have that put on and adjusted and the glass will eventually get some scratches. Even though I usually have to have some links taken out at a jewelry store as I have a small wrist, I love this kind of watch. And if it breaks, it's not like I'm out of a lot of money. I do have to have the battery changed about once a year, but that's no big deal. It's a Timex and it works like a Timex, that's all I want.

I love this watch. It's water resistant and keeps good time. I'm old fashioned and like the plain clock face. It's easy to tell time. Yes, you have to know how to tell time. It won't do it for you. I like how it looks.

The description says bracelet-style band but it is an expansion band. Nothing about how to shorten the band, or change the battery in the instructions, although you can watch YouTube videos about changing batteries- not the easiest to do, but if you are careful and have a little ability you can do it, even without watch maker's tools. I've never had to remove links in a band. Times just says take it to a jeweler- fine if you have one in the area that does these things, and you don't mind paying the extra. The back of the case at least tells you it takes a CR1216 battery- that is a little flat button 3V battery commonly found where I am. The date is ridiculous- this is an easy-reader type of watch which usually means you need slightly larger clear numbers - the date is tiny within the space the numeral 3 should be, so a lot of people will not be able to read it. It also has to be manually reset for every month less than 31 days- quite a nuisance, although once you learn how to do it, you can do it yourself-- if you can hold the watch and have a real or artificial "3rd hand" to hold the magnifying glass so you can see the numbers under good lighting while turning the tiny knob. It just is not worth it to me and I think the watch would look nicer without that little square hole where the 3 should be, so imo Timex ought to dispense with it and give us a few cents price break instead while having a less annoying, better-looking product. That said, the good part is that I am hoping this nice-looking but sturdy seeming watch will be as good as the similar ones I have had- for many, many years, through at least 3 battery changes now, and the batteries do last several years, although using the indiglo feature really eats batteries- I suggest not using it if you don't really need to, although it is nice when you do need it- usually the watch can run fine for several months after the indiglo stops working due to battery getting old, in my experience. I have to use Timex watches- I kill all LCD digital watches, and even other brands of analog watches in no time-any I ever tried would act goofy and die in short order. I say it is my electric personality as I get shocked all the time just touching things- like the shelves in a store. I also take gold plating off things- but not off these watches. All my life I have done fine with an analog Timex, and I do plenty of outside work with them. The previous watches survived years of getting splashed while working with irrigation or cleaning gutters or jarring work. They really do take a licking and keep on ticking. I also think it looks fine to wear out socially or to an office job, also, and has a second hand which is kind of needed if you work in medical. The only reason I ordered this one was that my old one once again needed the battery replaced and this time I was having trouble getting the back of the case opened- since it was old and a little scratched or worn due to rubbing here and there, after some 20+ years, and I wondered if I might crack the lens before I got the battery changed and the back cover on again so when I saw a good deal on the same style, I ordered it- and then I was finely able to get the back case cover off and the battery changed without damaging anything. Of course, right? Just get rid of the silly date box and do better on instructions and I'd give it more than 5 stars

Bought it as a gift for someone who thinks it is the perfect watch. Press a little button and it lights up.

Love my watch. Wanted a practical for everyday use that was easy to read, had an illumination feature and was durable.This watch has fulfilled these needs.

Packaging was perfect, not overdone but sufficient to keep the watch safe during transport. The band is a bit loose on my 6" wrist but for me its actually better than too snug. I do love the 2 tone design. Its a good quality watch and the stretch works very well. Its a basic, again sufficiently designed watch worth the money that coordinates well with dual toned jewelry. It will be great for travel, a bit of not over the top bling, lowkey.

Purchased this watch for my wife for Christmas through Amazon. Timex Watches are typically of good quality. We have been purchasing Timex Watches for over 50 years. They are usually highly reliable. This one was not. The watch stopped working in Mid-February. We thought it was simply a dead battery. Brought it to the jewelry store to have the battery watch replaced. It is not the battery. They had no idea what was wrong with it. The watch looks really nice, however after a few months it simply stopped working at all. I was told that I had to deal with Timex because the watch was not returned within 6 weeks or so. I have done so, beginning over one month ago, and have gone through a series of email exchanges that have been nothing short of terrible. They refuse to speak with my on the phone. They keep using excuses. The right hand is not aware of what the left hand is doing. My wife still does not have a watch that is working order. After weeks of going back and forth a Timex Representative finally agreed to send my wife a replacement watch. First, they said that I needed to return the non-working watch to them. I did so immediately, and they have confirmed that it was received. At first, they told me that they would alert me within 2 to 4 business days with tracking information for the replacement watch. They never did that. When, I reached out to them again for probably the tenth time, they are now saying it will at least 2 to 4 weeks. In the meantime, my wife does not have a working watch. I have used Timex Watches since I was child, and had a Hopalong Cassidy Watch in the 1950's. That was my first watch ever. The new Timex Corporation is nothing like the Timex that I used products from for over 60 years.
