Seems fine
Had a few issues setting it up. But once done it is perfect for my dad

Whatsapp doesn't work on phone until next update is released
So the only reason we bought this phone for a xmas present was so my dad could get whatsapp. He has a previous doro phone which he's happy with but which doesn't have whatsapp on it. This one is pretty much exactly the same but with whatsapp. So should be ideal. Spent literally hours on christmas day and boxing day trying to get whatsapp installed on this blinking phone (which seems very good apart from the whatsapp). Eventually called the help line and what I can only describe as a person masquerading as an American robot answered. He gave me the impression that he was totally bored in his job, didn't give a flying flip about the customers and had done this so many times that his brain was about to breathe its last if he spoke to one more customer. Anyway, what I managed to extract, slowly and painfully, from this robot-human was that there is a bug on the 7030 which means that you can't access whatsapp at all at the moment. They have a fix but in their wisdom decided to release it to more important countries than the UK over "the holiday" period. The UK will have to wait for a few weeks for the release. He couldn't give me a date for the release, he could only say that it should be before the end of January. Great. Thanks Doro. Other than the totally shoddy customer service surrounding whatsapp, this seems like a really decent phone for an old duffer who doesn't want to use the internet. If you want to use the internet then I'd steer clear. Giving it a 1 star because of the absolutely lousy whatsapp service and because I missed out on a lot of xmas day trying to configure an app which they know doesn't work. Might update this when the bug is finally fixed.

A good little mobile phone
These phones are great for older people. I ordered this for my father. He finds touch screen one's a problem. This doro 7030 works on 4g or can be set to work on 3g.easy to use. Set it in settings to WiFi network. Has a good reception. Though which ever network provider you use but say you had a short stay in hospital best to set it use which ever network the hospital uses which is free and you will still be able to make your calls. Not a fancy phone like smart phones. But good for calls and texts. It does have internet search. You can replace the battery on these phones yourself if you need to. It can be set up for emergency alerts. A good little easy to use phone for older people looking for a non fancy non complicated phone.

Useful simple phone
Bought this as a simple “indoor” phone when I dropped my landline. I was also attracted by the tethering facilities that could act as a backup when my fixed line Broadband failed or there was a power failure. Put in an already active ASDA Moblie SIM & it worked well out of the box. An initial issue was that WiFi calling could not be selected despite ASDA offering it. This was resolved nearly 2 weeks later when the phone picked up updated firmware from Doro. However, after the update the menus are now slow, with wanted selections having to sometimes be pressed several times before they respond. Call quality is excellent over WiFi. 4G (VoLTE) calling is also supposed to be available & the handset is compatible, but again this is currently missing. I will have to wait & see if a further update is forthcoming that solves these issues.

ok, but could easily be so much better for an elderly person.
THE GOOD: - WIFI calling. This was why I had to get this for my immobile grandmother - signal is terrible in her house. Sadly this is the only Doro feature phone that has it (I can't find a 7010 anywhere, and there's no telling it would even work with it). - Dedicated back and backspace buttons - good call. - UI has some good design choice e.g. the 'view what?' menu and shortcuts, to find things easily. But honestly, I'm not sure you'll find many elderly users who need it for anything other than making and receiving calls. - Handset is plastic but solid. Great hinge. THE BAD - Buttons have too much resistance. You don't want them to be pressed accidentally, but they took it took far. Due to being a flip phone, they're recessed - also not good for old fingers. - Menus don't wrap around. - Couldn't connect to update server - error code. - Directional buttons have dots instead of arrows - very confusing for an older person. They're also far too small - they need to be separated. - Inconsistent/unintuitive button behaviour. Once you highlight a contact, you (and she) would expect the green call button to initiate a call. It doesn't. Rather you have to press OK, but then you might have to press OK again, depending on how you're viewing a contact. She previously had the 1380 which was FAR easier to use, and intuitive. Fewer buttons, just up and down, and two contextual buttons. She just needed that with WIFI calling. - Battery life is pretty bad - I'm sure it will even last a day, whereas other Doro handsets can last for days. Doro, you do some good stuff, but you really need to tighten it up a bit. Hit me up - I'd be more than happy to test/review your handsets. I know what elderly people need.

Thrilled to find this model. Thank you!
Bought for elderly mother. She had this particular Doro model (7030) before and loved it. Sadly she spilt a boiling hot drink on it so this was ordered as a replacement. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon, as Doro no longer make this phone. Such a brilliant phone for anyone wanting to use it for texting and calling. Simple for technophobe’s and very reliable. Easy to set up. Extremely pleased with this seller. Such speedy delivery. Couldn’t fault from beginning to end.

The phone that time forgot
This is probably the most difficult, badly thought out and unresponsive phone I’ve ever used and I’ve had mobile phones since 1996!! I got this for my elderly aunt who’s previous Doro died and she wanted a new one with the ability to use WhatsApp. Use WhatsApp I hear you say! How marvellous!!……Don’t make me laugh 🤨. It’s like the app was designed by a 3yr old and you have to guide the pointer around the screen with the keypad and it moves slower than a snail. I felt like I’d been sent back in time to a place that technology forgot. The buttons are stiff, you can’t have a contacts icon on the screen and it takes someone with a degree in computer science just to find the icon, find a name and make a call. Oh and unless you turn off predictive text it takes about 5 minutes to manually type in one individual name & phone number to the contacts page as you have to type a key, pick a letter, highlight it with the key pad, then press ok to input it while it suddenly pops up a random word. It really is an absolutely dreadful phone. If I could’ve given it zero I would. If you just want a simple phone then get a previous Doro and avoid this one!! I have no idea why Doro seem to think that it’s okay for a supposedly simple phone to be so difficult to use and at the same time be so out of date and slow.

Simple , no fuss phone
Eventually, when you work through the manual, it becomes easier to use. Particularly like the green flashing light for incoming and un-opened e-mails; the max volume level, large keyboard and ability to use whatsapp, go online send e-mails. Remember this is a simple basic phone with some smartphone features. Other attributes are Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. There's also a USB port but I haven't manage to use it for more than battery re-charging (phone comes with a holster re-charger anyway) from a laptop. Main negative is battery life. Really needs a heavier duty battery. Doro should source a longer-life battery.
