Design Toscano Moon Man Astronaut Statue

I scarcely had him out of the box before he got his nickname (Meatball). In the hours since his arrival, he seems to have earned a place in my music studio next to a rack of guitars. Anyway, the first thing you need to realize is that he's a big boy. -About 25 inches tall and 12 inches wide, so don't get any ideas that you're going to park him on a bookshelf in your den unless there is oodles of clearance. He's about the size of a toddler taking their first steps, if thats a suitable visual comparison. The figure is modeled after one of the more iconic 'selfies' Neil and Buzz made on the moon (see my second photo for comparison), and I think Toscano did a great job of capturing the essence. The figure is very sturdy for what it is, but by its very nature (narrow at the feet in comparison to the shoulders), the stability is dubious at best on carpet. It's also going be relatively fragile, and I can easily see how it can be busted if it falls on a wood or (gasp) granite floor. So make sure you've got a pre-planned, safe location for him/her prior to your new buddy's arrival. And if you've got young children or grandchildren who may like to explore and play with him...I wish you good luck and advise you to stock up on Superglue. At any rate, consider all of the above, and if you're still interested, I think you'll be very pleased with this fine 'Naut' from Design Toscano.

This statue will be a great addition to the man cave. It does have a good bit of detail, solid and very well made. I was a little surprised the flags on the statue are paper and not painted on. They were hastily applied with a dab of glue and I will have to re-glue or replace the flags. I'd planned on having it painted to reflect a specific Apollo mission and add the Meatball logo on the shoulder so, the flags are not an issue for me. Overall, this is a great value and I recommend it for any space enthusiast.

I named him Neil. And he’s found some extra terrestrial friends to keep him (and me) company.

I’d like to give it a 5 stars, it looks great and my friend’s son likes it a lot, he put it in his bedroom and accidentally kicked it down to the ground, one arm was broken and the edge is very sharp, very dangerous to a little kid but overall it’s a nice gift.

Both of them arrived one day ahead... Astronauts look cool in our back yard. For family and friends viewing only

This Toscano Astronaut statue is absolutely exquisite. The statue stands around 2ft high and is made of resin (not sure if it has been 3D printed or molded but doesn't matter either way). This statue is a very high quality replica of the A7-L (Block II Apollo suits) as worn by the 12 Astronauts who walked on the moon, the Apollo-Soyux flight and the three Skylab flights.Each statue is hand painted right the way down "moon dust" on the boots and the lower legs. The only thing I can see missing from the statue from a realism point of view is that there is no mission patch on the suit. This may have been a conscious choice by Toscano so as to make the statue generic and represent any moonwalker (except for the commanders which on later flights had red stripes added so that mission control could easily distinguish between the two astronauts walking around on the moon).This makes a great and different garden statue and if you are a space collector this is a must have. I was so impressed with this Toscano Astronaut that I didn't put in my garden. Instead it now sits right beside my 1/72 Saturn V model. For the price and the quality you get, this is a no brainer. Superb.

Quality is good, and it is not heavy.

Lovely statue with a lot of detail and well painted. The American flags on the spaceman are little stickers and not hand painted as stated, but they still look good. The spaceman is made out of resin and is not to heavy as it is hollow, if you by this for the garden then put him in a sheltered part of the garden and bring him in in winter as if he falls over he will break. I bought this for indoor use and I look forward to when the small aliens become available, overall I am pleased with my purchase.
