How does it “stick” on to things? Does it have a magnet so you can remove and recharge?

Yes it has everything you need with it you stick it where it’s going it’s just a piece of metal you put it where it’s going and the magnet in the light sticks to it. When you need to recharge it you pull it off, charge it and put it back it’s a great light and it lasts ages before recharge you can set it to on, off, or auto. Mine are in the bedroom bathroom.

How does the dusk to dawn option work?

This is the times it'll switch on provided it's not in a dark cupboard or dark stairs blocking light. Brightest setting to lowest setting, won't turn on when it's daytime, will turn on when it gets darker (dusk till dawn) I've got mine to light up two sets of stairs in a terraced house and they work really well, they will occasionally turn on if it's a really dull day but the battery last ages between charges

Do the lights have a ‘flat base’ so they can stand on a shelf without using magnets or tape?

They can be free standing on their side. I absolutely love these lights.
