Cosamo Non Permanent Hair Color, Brown, Medium

This color worked great for me so far. I've tried the Dark brown (too dark for me but a nice color), the Medium Ash brown (nice color but did not last really long in my hair but lightened to a nice golden brown) and then this Medium brown which seems to be a perfect color. Did not get too dark and causes no irritation to my scalp. I will buy this color again. This is a non permanent color and will lonely last about 2 weeks if you wash your hair a few times a week or swim. I'll trade the non lasting for no irritation any day. I missed the old Loving Care colors and this is the best I've come across yet. Affordable and works. Strong smell which goes away in a day or if you wash your hair after coloring which I always do just to make sure all the extra dye is removed. I did have to leave it in between 30-45 minutes to get a good cover due to resistant grey hair. Be sure to use the plastic hair cover because it will activate the product and help it give you a good result. Just don't expect it to last as long as semi permanent hair coloring and you won't be disappointed.

I was looking for Loving Care from Clairol for many years...but sadly they discontinued it. Now I found a great product that is great for touch ups on sides forehead and anywhere you are are starting to turn gray. It is easy to use and covers those darn grays that keep re appearing in between coloring. Saves a lot of money and is not harsh like the other touch up kits on the market now. My hair is thinning and I am afraid to use products with ammonia or peroxide. Give it a try. The bottle lasts for a long time since you are not mixing it with anything.

As a man, I was looking for an alternative for JFM which, like many. causes me horrible chemical burns. This product went on easy, no burning, however even after leaving it on an hour it only covered up about of 70% of the grey Not necessarily a bad thing as it looks more natural at my age (51) but I would have like a better overage. I realize that beard hair is different from head hair, and I realize we are all different, but I was hoping for better results. It washes out in 3 days. Your mileage may vary. Still, as an alternative to breaking out in sores that resemble the walking dead, I would choose this product over any that I have found so far, however I will still continue to look. I wish you luck in you experience with Cosamo.

As a gentleman who has had facial hair for most of the past 20 years, it was distressing to me when my beard starting going gray. It was definitely adding years to my apparent age. Tried the "Just for Men" coloring, which worked, but after a few colorings, it starting burning my skin. The redness and itchiness didn't fully go away for months after my last use. Looking for a milder alternative, I tried out a Henna product. It definitely colored the hair with no physical side effects -- unfortunately that color turned out to be a moss green. Had to shave it all off. Was going to give up and just live with being clean shaven (after a brief stint sporting just a 'stache) until I starting reading up on alternatives. Found this stuff, and have been using it for the last 6 weeks or so. Now, it does wash out much faster than permanent coloring (if I shampoo my facial hair regularly, the application will last about a week before needing to be reapplied). But since I'm not using a whole lot of it at a time, and because application is essentially one step, it's still economical and efficient to use. I've noticed no itching or burning since use -- will update if that changes, but after 4-5 applications, no problems.

Didn't cover the grey and made my hair dry...

Like most women in my family, I started going gray early, but didn't bother with routinely coloring my hair until a few years ago. While I found relatively gentle, non-animal-tested semi-permanent color I liked (especially Herbatint), it did still change my hair so that once I decided to stop, it became a real struggle to keep the roots and previously dyed hair blended enough to be presentable. I tried black walnut hulls, cream henna, and some alternative products, none of which change the underlying hair and, accordingly, must be applied more often. All helped to some degree, but were far too messy and difficult to manage at home considering that by design their effect was meant to be short term. Although Cosamo isn't PETA-approved, they do not do animal testing themselves and the product is very gentle and non-irritating, free of many objectionable chemicals. It has a pleasant scent. Unlike some of the other temporary products I tried, it is easy to work with. You apply it to dry hair, and the squeeze bottle makes it easy to apply it at the roots and hairline, spreading with a brush where needed. Although it's not thick enough to be called a gel, it's not so runny as to be unmanageable. There is no mixing, so you can simply use as much as you want and close the bottle for next application. I have shoulder-length, porous, 'fluffy' hair and I generally use about 80% of the bottle for a full job, leaving enough for a touch-up. The conditioner packet is nice and I wish Amazon sold it by the bottle. The hair is best covered by a plastic bag after application to hold in the heat. Bag and gloves are supplied with each box, but of course it pays to keep extra gloves around if you don't expect to use up a whole bottle each time. I'm fairly sensitive to chemical exposure. Although Herbatint was pretty gentle, even that would become irritating, not just to my scalp, if left on too long. I recently had an interruption while doing a touch-up job with the Cosamo and ended up leaving it on for over an hour, with no irritation or problems. The color is quite nice. I use the medium brown, which is slightly lighter than my natural color but blends the previously dyed and gray hairs well so that they look like highlights. I've gotten some compliments since using it, and it does coat my hair nicely, although the added slip knocks back the curls for a couple of days, requiring a little more product. My only real complaint is that, in my own case, it doesn't take long for the color to start fading from my undyed hair (roots), less than a week. However, this could be due to my curly/dry hair care, which aims to keep the hair protected with conditioner-washing and occasional gentle shampoos rather than vigorous daily sudsing. I do try to use a clarifying shampoo just before I expect to dye my hair, but I don't really like stripping it that way. Also, if you use a Vitamin C filter to knock back the chlorine in your city water, there may be adherence problems since lower Ph tends to close the cuticle, possibly preventing the color from penetrating. Generally higher Ph (less acidity) which opens the cuticle is desirable when cleansing or applying color, to be followed with an acidic wash to close the cuticle again. (Consider the popular baking soda 'shampoo'/cider vinegar rinse method.) Next time I will try adding a little baking soda water at the 'shampooing' phase of coloring, where the product is worked into the hair further just before rinsing out. This may improve adherence. I've only been using Cosamo for a few months, so I will continue experimenting, but it won't be that hard to work more frequent touch-ups into my schedule. Since this product really isn't changing my natural hair, it will be easy to simply stop coloring once all the dyed hair is grown out. I look forward to not having to fool with hair color anymore, but Cosamo is an excellent gentle blending dye that is making the transition away from permanent color much easier, and would be a good choice for those who want to try covering or blending their gray without making a commitment.

I started using this color when Clairol stopped making "Loving Care" temporary hair color which I had used for 40 years (long before gray hairs). The color is good but it doesn't last nearly as long as Loving Care. So I finally had to break down and have my hair stylist apply a professional color that lasts 6 months. Unfortunately with my sensitive hair, that damages it and causes breakage but is a necessary evil I guess if I don't want a head full of gray hair. Unfortunately with Covid, going to the stylist is out. So I started buying this because I was tired of seeing all the gray that had appeared since my January visit to the stylist 5 months ago. It still only lasts about 4 shampoos but it makes my hair shiny and doesn't damage it. I'm trying now to see if I can stretch a bottle by just applying it to the roots. It's a little messier than the Loving Care foam but the same as the Loving Care liquid. I hope they never stop making it. It is also one of the few things that hasn't triple in price since Covid. Love, love this product. After having a very bad allergic reaction to salon permanent color, I did a lot of research. What I found out is that PPD is present in all permanent dark hair color whether from a salon or a local store. Even some of the "natural" hair dyes have PPD if you read all of the ingredients. I was fortunate that I accidently found this product after months of searching and reading reviews. Being anxious that I might still have a reaction, I waited months to try it. One morning I just said that I needed to either go gray or give this a shot, so I made sure it was a weekday so I could immediately go to my Dr. if I had any sort of reaction, and gave it a try. I was extremely cautious the first time and left the color in the minimum time. I am happy to say that I have no negative reaction to this product and it works beautifully. I have used it about 4 times and now have no fear and know the timing for my hair. I highly recommend this product for anyone with a PPD allergy or even anyone who does not want to get involved with permanent hair color. The only downside to temporary color is that it needs to be done approximately every 2 - 3 weeks, but I can live with that.

The medium brown colour is the one I used. I found it quite easy to use and did the job when I couldn't get to the hairdressers. I'm allergic to a lot of other hair dyes but I've had no reaction from this product so far.
