Since each button is independent, there is no precise way to determine which button is hit first. Whenever two or more buttons are hit at about the same time, it is up to the judges' eyes and ears to determine which button was hit first and for the judges to rule accordingly.

Can these buzzers be mounted on a board?

Not really. The speakers are on the bottom. They are pretty loud--my stepson put duct tape over the speakers to soften the noise some. So, if you use adhesive to mount them on fiberboard, they might still do okay. However, our grandson has had them since last Christmas and they've survived as four single buzzers.
