Awesome product, but wish it had an AC adapter instead of just batteries
I love this item, can't say enough great things about it. Only really have two minor annoyances / complaints about it. I initially bought this for my 4 year old daughter who kept waking up at 4 o'clock in the morning asking if it was morning yet and if she could get up. We tried putting a clock in her room and telling her she couldn't get up until 6am, but that was confusing for her. She'd come in if ANY of the numbers on the clock were a 6. A family member suggested this clock to me and said it worked great for her daughter so I thought I'd try it out. After buying it for my 4 year old my 2 year old insisted on getting one of her own also. Both LOVE it! It is really easy to set the "OK to wake" time and choose if it should use light only, alarm only or both. The nap mode is brilliant. You set how long the nap should be, then when it's time for nap you just hit the nap button (on the back behind the panel) and it does a count down on the front instead of showing the current time. Nap mode also allows you to choose light only, alarm only or both for "OK to wake" time. When it is "OK to wake", it plays a cute little animation and you can choose to snooze by hitting one of the toe buttons, or turn it off by hitting the other toe button. You can choose how long the clock stays green past the end of nap or OK to wake. The first few times I used it my kids napped longer than I expected and slept through the Green OK to wake light, so when they woke up they didn't know if they could get up or not. I changed it to stay on for 2 hours past the end of nap and that worked great. There is a night light also that is independent of the "OK to wake" functions. The clock glows yellow for the night light and glows green for OK to wake. PROS: Works great! Love the nap setting. Easy enough for my two year old to use. CONS: Battery operated only, I would love for this to have an AC adapter so we wouldn't have to go through so many batteries (we've started using rechargeable ones to cut down on cost). Keep the instructions handy. It was easy enough to set up with the instructions, but when the batteries run out after only two months of use it's somewhat confusing getting it all set back up if you don't have the instructions. They are now just taped to the bottom for future use. All in all, this does everything that it claims to do and even though it is expensive for a kids clock it has been worth every dime for us.

Amazing
I really really want to give this 5 stars because we think this is amazing!! However, the one thing that keeps me from giving it that one more star is the fact that ours has a glitch of some sort. If it's moved or touched in some way it turns off or resets itself. There's something wrong with the battery connection or something. It's super annoying to have to reset the clock, ok to wake time, and nap settings whenever this happens. That being said, if it's not picked up (it doesn't need to be after-all) it is just fine. When I first looked at this I thought $30 was pricey. Maybe I'd do $15... but there is nothing else out there like this so I decided to fork the money over. We got this for our 2 yr-old son who is still in a crib. We were expecting it to take a little while for him to get used to it and it's concept and we wanted it for when his little sister arrives to hopefully solidify his nap and wake times and for when he transitions to a bed. He was interested in it the moment we pulled it out of the package because it was something new. That night, when we were putting him to bed we told him what it does and showed him how it turns green and how that means it's okay to wake up. We then told him that if it's not green he can lay back down and go back to sleep or sit quietly in his crib. We then had him practice a couple times by toggling the green light on and off. He seemed to get it. The next morning we were amazed that he actually stayed quiet until it turned green, at which he promptly shouted to us, "Mom, dad, it turned green!" He was so excited and proud of himself. We've owned this for a week or two now and it still amazes us at how well it works for him waking up in the morning and that he is for sure having 2 hours of nap/quiet time each day. Like I said, he gets up excited now and is more well rested and happy since it keeps him in there for the certain length of time we've set. It's helped lengthen his nap from 1 hour to 2 hours like it should be because he'll go back to sleep since it's not green rather than sit and cry all sleep deprived. Not only is it good for him though, it's great for us to know that we have at least 2 hours to ourselves during the day and he's in bed until at least 8 in the morning now, ha! Update 7/25/15 I don't know why, but for some reason it doesn't have a glitch anymore and works great, even with my toddler touching it. Definitely one of the best purchases I've made.

Overall a very good product
Just purchased this for my almost-two-year-old who had been waking up progressively earlier over the previous few weeks. So far, the clock has worked like a dream. Toddler stays in bed in the mornings until the clock glows green, sometimes 10-15 minutes past the time I set the clock for (I have the light set to glow for up to 30 min). Toddler LOVES having a "big kid" clock and understood from the very first morning that green meant "ok to wake up" and no light meant go back to sleep or read. I read a lot of reviews of this and other products before purchasing this model, and I think we made the best choice of the options out there. I like that the clock has a digital time display, and toddler loves to recognize and call out the numbers on the clock face during the day. I like that the wake light can be used with or without an audible alarm. One review mentioned that the reviewer would rather have AC power than batteries, but with a little one, I'm glad there aren't any cords for toddler to pull or play with. Another reviewer mentioned that the wake light didn't stay on long enough, but this can be adjusted in the settings. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is that toddler dropped this product on the very first day. It wasn't a serious drop - less than a foot onto thick carpet - and the clock was not damaged. However, the drop was enough to jostle the batteries and reset the clock back to factory default. This is a real pain. I think this could be fixed easily and cheaply by the manufacturer adding some foam on the inside of the battery compartment door to cushion drops and keep the batteries in place. One further improvement I would recommend to the manufacturer is that the Nap function should also use the light feature. As I understand from reading the manual, the nap function is essentially just an audible alarm after a set period of time. I don't really want to wake up my toddler if nap time goes a few minutes past normal, so a glowing light (like in the mornings) would be much better than an audible alarm. It took some explaining to toddler that "the clock doesn't work for nap time." For our main purpose, which was to get toddler to wake up at regular times every day, this product has been great, and I would recommend it.

This is an awesome tool for teaching young children responsibility around waking up ...
This is an awesome tool for teaching young children responsibility around waking up and nap times. We started using this clock right around our son's 2nd birthday and I do not think he would have been able to grasp the concept much earlier. It took a week or two of very consistent practices before he grasped the concept of waiting until the light turns green to get up for the day or from his nap. The clock is pretty straightforward to set up when following the instructions. There are choices between alarm only, alarm and light, or light only and various night light settings. It can be battery powered or use the AC adapter. There is no backup battery, so the alarm settings are erased if the batteries are removed. So far the first set of batteries have lasted about a month and are still going. The nap timer is set separately from the wakeup alarm and functions as a timer rather than an alarm that goes off at a specific time. For example, you would set the nap timer for 1.5 hours when putting the child down for a nap and the light turns green after that amount of time. The power of the clock lies in how consistently you enforce the rules around it. On the first few uses we would remind our son that he needed to stay in bed until the clock turned green when putting him down for the night or a nap. When he woke up upset before the light turned green, I would go in his room and sit with him until the light turned green and talked about how we had to wait. After a few times he grasped the concept. While I may go in his room to comfort before the light goes off, the rule is that he must stay in his room. This clock has been especially helpful for nap times. My son was sleeping around 45min to an hour for a nap at home. Once we started using this clock, his naps have stretched to 90-105 minutes. Again, we tell him that he must stay in his room until the light turns green. I think knowing the boundaries around naptime have helped him to choose to sleep over fighting sleep in hopes that he can do a different activity. I highly recommend this clock. I think it helps so much for kids to feel some responsibility in adhering to the structure of sleep vs. non-predictable schedules for when they wake up.

This is MAGIC --- get one NOW!!
Wow... this thing is MAGIC!!!!! We are not new to sleep training methods... my kiddos have been great sleepers, always go to bed without a fight, and usually sleep through the night. However, my 2 year old (26 months) started having bad dreams and waking often, and it was getting exhausting. He is great at going to sleep on his own, so all we would need to do was go in, pick him up and rock him in the chair for about 2 minutes, then put him back down and he would go back to sleep on his own. We tried not picking him up, but he would NOT have that. Honestly, it wasn't really too big of a problem for awhile, since it only took about 5 minutes for everyone to be back to sleep, and it only happened a few times a week. Well before I knew it, the kid was waking and needing a snuggle over 3 times a night. With another baby in the house, the sleep deprivation started really getting to me. I was about to break down and start re-training him, and someone recommended this light. Honestly, I wasn't sure if it was going to work because he wasn't really getting up EARLY, just getting up in general, but I thought I'd give it a shot. The kid is obsessed with anything "special," so we call this his "special light" and he is in LOVE with it! We watched youtube videos on the light before it arrived, so he was SUPER excited to get it even before it came. I even let him meet the mailman to receive his "special light" and open the box himself. I taught him that off means "no crying" and green means "time to wake up!" and he is IN LOVE! We talked about how when the light is off, you don't need mama to come in, just know you can go back to sleep and when it turns green mama will come back! You guys, I am NOT kidding when I say he didn't wake up at ALL for the first 4 nights with this light. It had been a solid month before he had slept through the night before, and then all of the sudden he's making it ALL NIGHT!!!! On night 5 he woke up once crying... I was able to go in, give him a pat, tell him his light wasn't on, wait for it to come on, and he went right back to sleep without me having to pick him up!!! I seriously didn't think that not picking him up was possible without a fight from him!!! It was like MAGIC! He's always been a pretty good napper, but I work from home and can always use a bit of extra time to work during naptime. He usually naps about 1.5 hours... I started using the nap mode and can set it for 2 hours and I'm telling you... he just sits in his crib and reads his book quietly after he wakes up until the light turns green.... it is incredible! Do yourself a favor and buy this light... NOW!! CONS: - honestly, this light is somewhat poorly made.... he dropped it on day 3 from a chair to a carpeted floor and neither of the feet buttons would work... I had to take the batteries out and reset it and thankfully it worked. A few days later it completely froze after dropping it from a short distance onto carpet. The first time we had to take it with us for an overnight trip, it was packed into the top of an open tote bag (not overstuffed) and the little ears of the faceplate turned white from bending damage (like they might break off!). TBH, I could care less... take all my money bc this thing is giving me SO much good sleep for the whole family! Need to go ahead and order a backup bc if it completely breaks I can guarantee we will have a night full of tears and no sleep.

Life-saver for our 2yo
UPDATE: Our kiddo is now 8 years old and still works like a charm! Can’t recommend enough. —- We bought this when our daughter was 2yo at a recommendation of a friend, and it's fantastic! We talked to our daughter about it, had her name him ("Milo"), and explained how it worked. The first week we set the timer at a time that she usually wakes up, so we could just show her how it works and not have to "fight" with it right away. Then as she got used to it, we set the timer later in the morning. (7:30am works for us.) She knows that she isn't to get up (unless to use the potty) until "Milo turns green". Having the nap option is fantastic as well. We set it for 2 hours when we put her down, and still works like a charm. It's been over a year, and I highly recommend trying it. I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone, but it's been GREAT for us. No fights, no fuss. She understands how it works and we don't have to push it. PROS: - Light up option (we don't use the sound alarm, but maybe will later as she gets older.) - Looks cute, so it's fun for our daughter. - Nap timer is awesome. - Easy to take along when traveling. - Love that you can plug it in and also use batteries. When the power has gone out or flickered, it doesn't shut off or restart; it just uses the battery power until it comes back on. CONS: - None for us, but I could understand if other kids just don't work well with it. SUGGESTION: From hearing from other parents, I suggest starting this as young as possible. We started it at 2yo, and it seems like the older the kids are, the harder it is to introduce it.

Packed full of features! Battery life added to review!
I was so hesitant to buy this because of the negative reviews (and the price)- but I'm really REALLY glad I did get it. So how it works is, you can set the time, and can also set the time of the morning that you'd like it to turn green (indicating to your child that it's now OK to get up). This feature can be used, or not. You can also decide how LONG you want it to stay green (mine is set to an hour) but you can shut the green light off when your child gets up by tapping the foot. There is also an alarm feature, which we don't use but I tested. The alarm is perfect for a toddler, nothing to loud or startling. At night you can press the foot and put on the orange night light, that feature has 3 levels of dimness, and can also be set to stay on for a certain amount of time (mine is set also to an hour, on the most dim setting). So my son loves a dark room and his windows are pretty much blacked out lol but he has taken a liking to his orange light being on as he's falling asleep at night. It's good that it shuts off, because he likes it dark if he wakes up. I do believe the light has the ability to stay on all night but I don't remember 100%. When the green light comes on (at 8am in our house!) there is a cute smile face that comes on the screen. The whole thing is really cute looking actually! All the buttons to set the time and everything are in the back, large enough to understand and see well. It's really easy to set up, I can't imagine anyone having trouble with it. There is also a nap feature that you can set, so if your child is going to nap you can set the green light to go on in an hour or two, etc. The alarm can be used with the green light, if you so choose. Overall I am very pleased with this clock. Two things go take notice on: it runs on battery's, I plan to update how long our batteries last using it the way we do (orange light on for an hour at night, green light on for an hour at MOST in the a.m) so we will see how long that lasts. Being plugged in would be nice, however in our old house we hardly have any outlets so in that case I'm actually happy it's on battery's. Also, I do think it's over priced. I almost took off a star for this BUT so far it has been working great, my 3.5 year old totally gets the concept and stays in bed until it turns green, so in that regard it's worth the money. But it feels kind of cheap and so this clock is off limits to my toddler as far as playing with it/touching it goes. I do believe if he handled it to much, dropped it, knocked it around, it could break or stop working. But even if it was a regular alarm clock I'd still not let him play with it because um hello he's 3 and he doesn't need to play with an alarm clock. This clock is feature packed and I've recommended it to many people already! UPDATE:: So I was interested to see how long he battery's would last and they just died this morning! So this was delivered to me in February 2015 and the batteries lasted until today, June 24, 2015 so about 4 months. This is with less expensive batteries (not name brand) and with consistent nightly use. I have the clock set so that I can put the nightlight on for 1 hour while my son falls asleep, and in the morning at 8:10 (we are late sleepers lol) his "okay to wake" light turns on and will stay on for 1 hour if need be. But I usually always go in and shut it off by 8:30. We don't use the alarm feature yet and it's not played with at all by my toddler. So! That's the battery life for this alarm clock for us and the way we use it. I'd say 6 months would be better, but you might get longer battery life if you don't use the night light feature at night, or for a shorter time, or if you use better batteries then we do. I will say, I am still very impressed with this clock. It's so easy to grab, pack and take with us to Grammys or camping, it does it's job, it's cute and it's held up so far. Really love it! Another battery life update::: Its October 10th 2015 and the batteries from June 24th just died this morning. So again, almost 4 months. About 3.5 months this time but like I said, we use off brand batteries. Even the rayovac batteries seem to last at least a few weeks longer. This alarm does take 4AA batteries and we still use this clock nightly as stated above. I wouldn't mind a plug in feature but our house seriously lacks outlets so actually the battery on this doesn't bother me. For me it's easier to change batteries then find an outlet that will allow us to reach the top of his dresser where we keep it. Hope this helps!

Green light doesn't stay on long enough
This little ok to wake clock is pretty good for the most part. There are no defects, it's simple to use, it looks nice, and most importantly, it's affordable when compared to the fancier and pricier stuff on the market. However, I'm giving it 3 stars because the green ok to wake light only stays on for half an hour. That's well and good if your small person is always awake at the same time each morning to see the light come on. But depending on how well my little boy sleeps each night, his waking time is all over the place and he sometimes sleeps an hour later than usual. By that point, the green light has already come and gone, with him none the wiser, and the poor little guy will just stay cooped up in his room while I unknowingly sleep in till 10. That's happened enough times that I feel awful on my end, and he understandably no longer trusts his clock to turn green and just gets up when he feels like it. So the clock no longer serves a purpose for us, as much as we like it otherwise. I believe this is mostly just a battery saving technique, seeing as the night light also turns off after half an hour, and the numbers on the clock aren't lit either for him to read the time in the dark. So if any of that bothers you, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Other than that, it's a fine product.
