Surprisingly Simple Mandoline
I pulled this out thinking I would slice one cucumber and put it away. It has not left my counter since. The design feels compact and folds down for storage, which matters in a kitchen that is already full. The built in guard keeps fingers away from the blade, and I was relieved not to feel like I needed a full safety briefing before using it. It slices evenly and quickly. I have used it for cucumbers, carrots, and potatoes, and the thickness settings are easy to adjust. The pieces come out consistent, which makes salads and sheet pan dinners look more intentional than they probably are. Cleanup has been straightforward, and it stores flat without taking up much space. It has been a simple way to speed up everyday prep without dragging out a larger appliance.

Fantastic, little small sometimes but can cut stuff to fit.
My old mandoline was getting a bit old, and I wanted a new one, so when I saw this, I figured it would pick it up. I got it all set up and used it for carrots and potatoes, and it does perfectly. It is super easy to use and cuts stuff like a hot knife through butter. My only complaint is that the chute could be bigger, but I can just cut stuff to make it fit. All in all, it is a fantastic mandoline, and I'm super happy I got it.

This is a very safe chopper, slicer.
I received my slicer yesterday and was very excited to try it. We eat lots of vegetables In our house and I always have a summer garden. So today I processed onions, carrots, jalapeños , zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers and sweet potatoes. Overall I’m pretty impressed with this product. It does take a little practice to get used to balancing the pressure of pushing the vegetable along with pushing the chopper handle, as I was chopping I made a mess around the container that catches the vegetables until I got the hang of not letting the chopper bounce back freely. I do feel even with my first time using I was able to process all those vegetables much faster and easier than having chopped them by hand. This product is definitely worth the price I paid for it. The only reason I gave it four stars was because cleaning it was not that easy. The Brush that comes with it is not stiff enough to be of any help, I ended up using the other end to clean out the tracks. You have to look all over and move the chopping handle around to find all the places where the particles of food are left behind. However there will be cleaning with any product. I like this product for ease-of-use and the safety is superior, there is no chance of you cutting yourself unless you stick your fingers where they shouldn’t be... Happy chopping!

This mandoline is not only safer to use, but cutting ingredients for salads is so much faster.
First of all, I have to say that I totally disagree with the review that stated "This product was intended for use with a developmentally delayed person to aid in cooking." I am an experienced cook that is well versed in the use of a knife and a mandoline. If you have a tool like this that can make processing food easier, faster, and safer, I see no reason not to use it no matter how good your knife skills are. I also disagree there is a lot of prep work before this mandoline can be used. For some slicing some foods, like celery, carrots, etc. I generally cut pieces to be close to equal length. If the lengths are longer than the shoot, you can use your hand to push them until they get short enough to use the pusher. I use this mandoline primarily for cutting ingredients I use in our salads. Other than the greens, avocado, and cherry tomatoes I use, this mandoline is used for radishes, cucumber, red onion, red and green bell peppers, and carrots. If you are into salads, try cutting radishes with either a knife or a convention mandoline. Yes it can be done with a knife, and not with a conventional mandoline very easily. Cutting them with a knife takes time to cut them evenly and individually and you have to be careful they don't slip so you cut your fingers. With this mandoline, I cut off the ends of the radishes, put 4-5 of them in the chute of this mandoline, and they are all evenly sliced in less than 5 seconds. I haven't found a cucumber yet that would fit into the chute of this mandoline. I cut off the end on an angle, and again, enough evenly cut slices for two salads within less than 5 seconds. For peppers, cut them in half, remove the seeds and membranes, and put them in the chute of this mandoline fitting them together in layers. Again, perfect slices in less than 5 seconds. For red onions, I peel them, cut them into quarters, and put a couple of quarters in the chute. Again, enough for two salads cut into perfect even slices. For carrots using two carrots, I cut off the ends, cut the carrots in half, put the 4 pieces in the mandoline chute, and, again, less than 5 seconds to even slice all of the carrots. Honestly, I can't imagine trying to do all of this with a conventional mandoline as most will not cut anything that is not soft. I did used a knife prior to getting this mandoline, but it took me at least 15-20 minutes more to get all of these veggies cut and cut evenly. I am not a "developmentally delayed person in cooking", but I do appreciate any cooking aid that saves me time. In addition, for my purposes, I have had no problem at all in cleaning this mandoline or with food sticking in it. I simply use my sink sprayer to clean it. As yet, I haven't had a need to use the brush that came with it for cleaning. Although this mandoline may not be good for all slicing needs, it certainly helps a lot in the preparation of salad ingredients. Will this mandoline replace all use of a conventional mandoline, a food processor, or a knife - not likely. They all have their uses, and this mandoline will not replace any of them. Really, the purpose of kitchen gadgets is to make some jobs easier and faster. This mandoline will definitely do that if you make a lot of salads with a lot of ingredients as I do. It will not replace a conventional mandoline that will slice large veggies such as potatoes. Whether this mandoline is useful for you depends on your needs. Personally, for me, it saves a lot of time in cutting veggies I use for salads. UPDATE 02/19/24: I have had this mandoline for 3 years, and it still is as sharp and cuts as well as the day I got it. I use it primarily for slicing veggies for salads which makes it so much easier to make dinner salads almost every night. I grow most of our veggies indoors, and most recently I had to slice a large harvest of carrots before steaming, packaging, and freezing them. Slicing all of the carrots would have been a tedious chore, but, by using this mandoline, I had them all sliced in less than 5 minutes. One thing I have learned is to keep foods packed in the shoot so they don't turn sideways. To do this, I sometimes adjust the orientation of food in the shoot or add more to keep everything upright. As you use this tool, you learn how to keep slices even. Although I use a knife or my larger mandoline for some jobs, this mandoline is still an invaluable tool in my kitchen. I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update my review if my opinion changes or I find more uses for it.

Difficult to clean
I really wanted to love this. I feel as if the cup that holds the sliced product is way too small. Also found that it’s really kind of a pain to clean. Yes, it can go in the dishwasher, but that doesn’t always get everything out of the little blades.

It really works!
Over the years I have had so many mandolins and "clever" slicers with interchangeable blades and security pushers that proved unsuccessful or too dangerous. Well, I don't think this Dash slicer will be leaving my kitchen for quite some time if all continues to go so well. In the first three days I've had the Dash mandolin I have sliced paper-thin to chunky potatoes, dozens of carrots, celery stalks, apples, and onions (thin sliced and chunks). Not everything comes out as neatly as if I had done it by hand because some items move around in the bin as you SAFELY push them into the chute. I have surrendered my need for precision-cut carrots, etc., for less arthritis pain in my hands, and getting the product ready faster. If you bring out the electric food processor for slicing veggies and then have to clean all the parts, I think you will find the Dash slicer much easier to set up and clean, and just as fast and semi-uniform as your big processor. It also has a wider variety of slicing possibilities. My biggest problem when using the Dash is that I get so wrapped up in the processing that I forget to empty the little bowl. So, my second time using it, I opted for one of my many bendable slicing mats that have replaced cutting boards. I set the exit area (back end/foldable legs) feet of the slicer a few inches onto the edge of the mat instead of using the bowl. The mat appears to handle about three times the amount of sliced material as the bowl. I then lift the slicer feet that rest on the mat, slide the mat out, hold the mat sides up a bit to cradle the produce, and unload it into the cooking pot or wherever they will go next. Much easier than chasing the stray bits that overflow the provided receptacle. I think a vulnerable spot to be aware of will be opening and closing the movable legs. They do need to be "clicked" or gently maneuvered into place until you feel them go into their positions indicated by small raised marks on the top of the legs. It may feel more natural as I use it more, but it does need to be done with kindness and not a ham-fisted shove. It also took me several times to get started in the right direction when attaching the receptacle for the _unsliced_ produce and the "pusher". The end with the serrated edges goes toward the slicer stand; and the rounded (or half-circle) part faces up, not toward the table.

Excellent product
I had a mandolin which I threw in the bin when I chopped the top of my finger off….. Vowed never to buy one again - but this one is so well designed you’d have to try hard to hurt yourself. I use it to cut thing strips of apple for Bircher Muesli, slice carrots for the kids lunch, slice up veg for a poke bowl. The kids love using it too and it’s super safe.

Me encanta!!! Es súper ligero y cabe en un cajón con todas sus piezas.
