No....I have never used a more effective fire ant killer. It takes a few days to work.

Can this be used in vegetable gardens?

read the label. my guess is no but if you cannot find anything on the label, contact the manufacturer.

When do you apply the first treatment each year?

I wait until I see the 1st exploring ants. The material is expensive! It is also toxic so I look for ant entry ways into house(kitchen) I put granules into small flat dish. They love it and take it back to give. Very Effective!
