Are the 5000 capsules very large and hard to swallow ? I used to take 1000 softgels.(very small).the 5000 caps are better amount, but afraid too big.

No need to worry about these size #1 capsules there are small and very easy to swallow. These are the 5,000 IU Vitamin D3 capsules by Solgar. I know the size because I purchased some size #1 capsules to use for an entirely different supplement. These Solgar Vitamin D3 capsules are about 0.50 (1/2) inch long x 0.25 (1/4) narrow and the contents are in the form of white powder. I really dislike swallowing pills and therefore I check out the size, shape, form and even the contents of supplements before ordering. I purchase these in the 240 capsule bottles, simply because it is the most cost effective and I never miss a day taking it. I have used the Solgar Vitamin D3 capsules for more than three years with no problems swallowing them.

I do not know if the product has gelatin or not. If it does, the label implies that it is vegetable based. According to the label, the ingredients include "vegetable capsule" with Vitamin D3 "as cholecalciferol." Other ingredients include "Microcrystalline Cellulose, Vegetable Cellulose, Vegetable Magnesium Stearate."The label says "FREE OF: Gluten, Wheat, Dairy, Soy, Yeast, Sugar, Sodium, Artificial Flavor, Sweetener, Preservatives and Color."This is based on my bottle manufactured as Lot # 499324-05 that expires on 02/2016.

Nothing on the label indicates non-GMO. If I were totally concerned I would call the toll-free number for Solgar, Inc. 1-877-SOLGAR 4. I chose this brand because it is 'soy free'.

Are there calories in these Solgar D3 vege capsules? The bottle doesn't say.

No. It's only dry capsules of vitamin d3 and some fillers.
