I'm first going to admit that I searched and searched for reviews and/or demos of these speakers to see if Soundstream was still as good of a product as they were years ago. When I only found ONE "review" on Amazon, I was like, I'm not going to take that as an actual review of someone who bought and listened to this speaker and if they did, what is their definition of what really sounds GOOD, LOUD and CLEAN. I have many years of experience installing car audio and listening to many different types and brands of speakers. I ordered these regardless of my skepticism at roughly $65 a pair, installed them in a makeshift box until I get my door panels done and on nothing but the stock radio of an 02 Explorer these played so loud I couldn't post the video, all you hear is sizzling highs. However, from my listening experience, midbass was nice, solid and punchy, the vocals sound loud, clean and natural and those compression horns bring out very rich, crisp detail. I would compare these to the best.. The only thing I don't like is that they don't have push terminals, however, the tensil leads are very nice, flat and woven into the spider. Online, it says these have a frequency response of 100-25k. On the box it says 50- 20k. On an amplifier, I can imagine a huge difference in sound quality since the use of all the power I had made them sound a little distorted due to the unit not producing clean output at wide open volume. But I don't recommend 200w @ 50hz, 100hz is highly possible, but these do produce excellent bass and are excellent full range speakers. I'm more inclined to believe that since there are 2 speaker, these are rated actually by combining the power of both drivers (so 100w for the 8 and 100w for the horn). You basically have two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel to bring it to a 4 ohm load with a built in filter for the horn and you can hear details in music you never knew were there. No need for components with multiple speakers unless you just like to place your speakers in different locations.. I hope this has been an informative review as I have found none at all on this speaker. I will update with more pics and maybe a clear sounding video for demo soon. I wasn't paid by Amazon as some say, or Soundstream for this review. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
