This aluminum knife was stiff to open and difficult to grip. The aluminum side panels are slick and don't allow a good purchase on the knife when trying to flick it open. Returned and purchased the rosewood one....much better. UPDATE 5/20/19: Seller ProMark sent me a couple of emails after my purchase and I corresponded with them regarding the knife. I noted what I thought was wrong with the knife and informed them that I had already purchased a Rosewood handled version rather than take a chance on another of the same aluminum variety. I was/am happy with my Rosewood handled purchase and thought nothing more of it. Then on the 5/17/19 ProMark contacted me and asked me if I would reevaluate the knife if they sent me another. I said yes and received the new grey colored aluminum handled knife in the mail on Sunday the 19th. I opened the sealed box and went right for the flaw in the first one. I flicked it open using the "kick" and it sprung into action and locked into place. Then the knurled stud on the blade (I like this better than the kick as it is a more natural feel) and it also sprung open and locked. The replacement knife was working just as good as my rosewood handled version and did not feel slick to me at all and was easy to grip. The only thing I can figure out is that the reason I could not originally get a good grip on this small and smooth knife was because I had to exert way too much force to get the original knife to open and lock. Anyway, I am not encountering any of the original issues. Just for information, the aluminum bodied knife handle thickness is 8.5mm. The Rosewood version is 9.8mm. That extra 1.3mm from my perspective makes the rosewood version a little more comfortable but that is just personal taste, hand strength and hand size...everyone. will be different. I did buy this specific knife after a lot of shopping because of its size. I wanted a small knife. That however comes with trade offs. The biggest negative of the knife is that you need two hands to unlock and close it. I personally would prefer being able to move the lock aside with the one hand to release the blade like most of my cheaper knives but the cost of that would have been a thicker body which would make this knife less attractive to me. In summary I think that the Twitch II is a great little pocket knife. Had the first knife I received been like the replacement I would have rated it at 4 stars , mostly because of the unlocking feature. The customer service was outstanding, communicating early and often and I give them a 5 star rating and because of that I'm going to rate this knife as a 5.

SOG quality! Top notch. Sharp blade that holds its edge well. Very sharp. Not for children. I recommend at least 14 - 15 years old. This is an adult's tool. It is beautiful. Well made. Feels smooth - no sharp edges or corners to catch on your pocket. Excellent value. I also have his much bigger brother. Easy to use. I like the lock that either locks it closed so it can't accidentally open OR locks it open to keep it from accidentally close while using it.

Great little pocket knife. Spring assist can be adjusted with a 2mm hex key wrench, as mine need a little tweak. Has lock for blade retention or extension. Knife came sharp and well suited for most applications that a pocket knife this size would address. Don't know why it has or needs thumb screws, but added feature. Clip secures knife to pocket. Haven't sharpened yet, but shouldn't see a problem. Overall a nice pocket knife that flips to open locking position with ease and adjustable to user desire. No blade play per say, but if you loosen spring assist too much blade will move a tad. Durable finish, good size for pocket, and great design. 2c

I like this knife. I almost love it, with only 2 complaints. The quality and finish look great. Its really good looking. The blade is sharp. It flips open quickly and smoothly. What I don't like (but other reviewers do seem to like) is the safety catch. I kinda understand it for when the knife is open, if you're worried you might close it on yourself by accident but I hate that a few times I've pulled the knife out to use it and somehow I'd inadvertently turned the safety catch on, so i gotta flip that little safety lever off. It's easy, but annoying... the only other thing I CANT believe is other reviewers like the size..??? WHAT?? For a dude I have small hands. Not smallish - i mean small. I wear small gloves. My wedding band is pretty small. I have small hands.... this knife feels like I'm holding fingernail clippers when im cutting something open. I wish it were about 20 percent larger. It's tiny. But I don't regret buying it.

This knife has been my everyday carry for over 9 years. I lost the first one I bought and promptly ordered another - I've been using that one for the last 5.5 years. I didn't realize it had been that long and when I thought about it I decided I should write a review. The knife itself is great - the assisted opening works so well - I can have it out and flicked open in the blink of an eye. The pocket clip keeps it in place, it's easy to unlock (even one-handed if needed) and just feels right. I never use the blade lock but it's also a nice feature (the little slide switch by the lock release that locks the blade closed). I most often use it for opening boxes and packages, but over the years have used it for all sorts of things. I feel incomplete without it! In addition to a solid knife, I love the support SOG offers. I happen to live near their headquarters and have stopped in a couple times for a free sharpen. My spring also broke one time and they fixed it on the spot in under 5 minutes. And, just today I stopped in because the little screws holding the clip on kept coming loose. They replaced the screws, put on some Loctite and sharpened it up. You can get that same service by shipping it to them if you don't live nearby - they'll even pay the return shipping. I've looked at other knives, but have never seen one I'd rather carry than this one. If I lost this one today, I'd order a new one just as soon as I stopped crying (of course I'd have a tough decision between this one, the black one or the wood-handled one). I'll be buying one for my boys as soon as I feel they're ready to handle an assisted-opening knife.

What I like about this knife: It is absurdly sharp out of the box. When the blade is fully opened, you know the lock is going to hold it in place. and its not going to close on your fingers or anything like that. Also it has a safety to prevent it from opening if you wanted to use it. What I dislike about it: It poses a greater risk to the user than other folding knives because it is assisted opening. Handle with care. For example if you use the thumb screws to open it, the blade will jump because of the spring assist and your thumb will end up pressed against the blade. Ouch! The thumb screws would need to be much bigger to prevent this, or not included at all. It was also a struggle to open the blade fully and consistently at first. I had to do a very exaggerated wrist flick to get the blade to lock open because everything was so tight, and sometimes even that wasn't enough. When doing this wrist flick it felt like the knife could fly out of my hands because it is so small. That would be very dangerous if it did leave someone's hand unexpectedly. One time the assist spring came out of place and prevented the blade from fully opening. I had to disassemble the knife to fix it. This was a good opportunity to clean, polish, oil, and loosen things up a bit which did help. I think if the assisted opening lever was a little longer, it would be better. I originally gave 2 stars, but messed with the knife a little more and was able to loosen it up a bit. I was disappointed with this purchase for the price versus the amount of effort needed to get it to be useable, but not so disappointed that I wanted to return it. Could be better, but still a cool little knife.

I really like this knife. It has great build quality, I like the feel of the knife. Sides are a coated so it is hard to realize that is is aluminum. The lock mechanism is the key, it is a lock back with a lock mechanism. A safety feature you can use when the blade is open. The blade opens easily, it is spring assisted, but a soft spring. A drop of oil, helps it to open easier. Only cut paper with the blade which is AUS-8, the edge is sharp, don't know how long it will last. SOG this twitch is a good one. Addition: love the locking mechanism, because it can also be used when the blade is retracted, so it cannot be opened accidently, it is now my everyday carry.

This one is the second one I bought... I still have the first one, more about that in a minute. I should qualify something first. I have a CRKT M21-14 tactical knife I got while in Iraq which is equally as good, just for a different purpose. I bought my first Twitch II also when serving in Iraq but for a another purpose. A colleague, who I worked with, brought this knife to my attention. In many parts of the world and in some states in the U.S. it's illegal to carry a knife with a blade over 3". Being under 3" and with an unassuming lower profile makes it a perfect EDC carry knife. It's quick to deploy in a life or death situation but still legal in length (the assisted blade isn't legal in some states). If you had to defend yourself in court... an unassuming small knife shown to a jury is much better than six inch silletto blade or Rambo knife. Why I own two... I keep the new one (never carried or used) in my shaving kit for when I travel and packed in my checked luggage. This way the knife is as sharp as when it was manufactured, razor sharp in this case. For the size, toughness and reliability it's an all-around great knife.

Empfehle zum Öffnen den Flipper zu benutzen. * Messer hat Lockback Sicherung * das Messer hat eine Schiebe-Sicherung hinter dem Lockback-Riegel, die ein unabsichtliches Öffnen des Messers verhindert * Das Messer ist nicht Waffengesetzkonform und darf in Deutschland nicht 'geführt' werden.
