I really enjoyed the characters and the boardroom insights. I found the women in this book to be strong and survivors. The children were intriguing as well. The plot was enjoyable and kept me up on a work night to see the ending. I have only one regret and that is the fact that I am not a fabulous and sassy CEO with a good diet and a hot body. something tells me that plus a good heart and a great writer would make my life a bit more thrilling. In the meantime I will wait for a new Danelle Steele and a nice glass of wine. Review: Good, but not one of Danielle Steels' best - I believe I've read just about every one of Danielle Steels' novels & books and although this is still a good read, it never left me with the desire to continue reading it and not be able to put it down. Maybe it was Marshall the main 'male' character in the book who left me sick to my stomach with his ultra male ego, or maybe it was the anger I felt toward 'the other woman' for not pulling away sooner than she did, and did we really have to bring the children that were born as a result of their inability to discontinue their relationship over a 7 year period? Regardless, I would still recommend this book, although I think Danielle Steel has lost some of the draw she had with her earlier novels which I couldn't put down until I'd finished reading them.

Another great read!
As with all of Danielle Steel's books, this was a quick read, interweaving the lives of two seemingly unrelated people as she carries you into a place where you can read just for the pure enjoyment of reading. I love her books, although they all seem to be similar in that the main character experiences heartache and hardships, but always results in a happy ending. I don't have to "think" when I read her books - no intrigue, no mysteries to have to try to figure out, the characters are easy to remember. Sometimes I like a mystery or suspense that requires me to exercise my brain more, but then I always use her books as a "palate cleanser" to bring me back to a happy place where good triumphs over evil. I always feel like I know her characters, and finish the book wanting even more about their lives. As always, an excellent read!

Adventures of a Serial Lady Killer
Power Play is the parallel story of two CEOs in charge of large corporations in the San Francisco area and the differences men and women face in the boardroom. Fiona Carson is a workaholic, who has given up any semblance of a personal life for the good of her company. Other than being a wonderful mother to daughter Alyssa and an excellent slave to her work, she has no life, to the consternation of her gadabout sister. Everything changes when she finally meets a man who is not intimidated by her corporate success. The tale of Fiona Carson is about as interesting as her life and is typical Danielle Steele fare. The more interesting character is Marshall Weston. He has it all: Liz, the perfect corporate wife (think Mad Men's Betty Draper) who goes so far as to learn rudimentary Japanese to better entertain the wives of her husband's potential clients, three children, a huge salary package and Ashley, the mistress in Los Angeles who lives with the twins she and Marshall created eight years prior. Yes, he has kept his second family under wraps and under his thumb for eight years. Marshall Weston is a rat of the worst order. Only his eldest son sees through his facade. Like Fiona, Marshall is married to the boardroom, but unlike Fiona, he will stop at nothing to maintain power and control of his company and his two families. Along with his rat persona, he is the ultimate narcissist (think of a certain orange-haired candidate for the Presidency.) If it was Danielle Steele's intent to create a most unlikable character, she did a wonderful job. Danielle Steele's books are always entertaining, despite her writing style. If she had omitted the fluff, Power Play would have been half its length. Her writing guide must dictate to use as many words as possible to describe anything from a bibelot in someone's living room to each character. Normally, this overblown style would annoy me, but no one can question Danielle Steele's popularity. She will never write The Great American Novel, but she always spins a great yarn.

Wonderful!
The storyline is great and the characters are wonderful. It talks about how a selfish person can ruin so many lives and not even have any remorse. Highly recommend.

I love Danielle steel
Power play was like her other books keep me reading from start to finish. A book about major players in the corporate giants. Sounds real to me women working like slaves to prove them selfs and men granted smart men in bussiness having affairs and married to women that that love them and making them look good. It is a very good read but has a huge ring of truth to as well. I love her book and have read every one. This one is great but she has wrote better ones as well.

読み始めると止まらなくなります。日本人にも簡単に読める英語でありながら、情景描写が上手いと思います。ただストーリーは望み通りに進み、終わりにサプライズがないのが玉に瑕かな。
