5/5 Stars: Hilarious and Relatable, Perfect for Fans of The Odd 1s Out!
I bought The Odd 1s Out: The First Sequel for my 10-year-old, who is a huge fan of James’ YouTube channel, and it did not disappoint! This book is just as funny, quirky, and relatable as the first one.Pros:1. Hilarious Content: James has a unique way of turning everyday situations into laugh-out-loud moments. My child (and I) found ourselves laughing at the funny stories, awkward social encounters, and the illustrations that really bring them to life.2. Relatable Topics: The book touches on experiences that most kids (and even adults) can relate to—school, family, friendships, and more. My child felt like James was talking directly to them about their own life!3. Great Illustrations: The art style is colorful and expressive, just like the YouTube videos. It really adds to the humor and makes the stories even more engaging.4. Easy to Read: The writing is simple and accessible, perfect for kids aged 9-12. The humor and short, quick chapters keep young readers hooked, and it’s a great book for reluctant readers too.Cons:1. Some Jokes Might Fly Over Younger Kids’ Heads: While most of the content is perfect for tweens, a few jokes or references might be a bit more understandable for older kids or teens. But overall, it’s still very kid-friendly.If your child loves The Odd 1s Out videos, they’ll love The First Sequel. It’s full of humor, heart, and plenty of moments that will have them saying, “That’s so me!” Definitely recommend for fans of James and anyone who enjoys a fun, lighthearted read!
