Oncidium Sharry Baby - Chocolate Fragrance Very Popular, Easy to Grow and Bloom (NOT in-Bud/Bloom When Shipped)

I bought the SD2 size April 5, 2022 and she's been growing green like crazy but no blooms yet. FINALLY this year, April 29, 2026 she popped out her first flower. I noticed a stem growing in February 20, 2026 and got so excited. Now that she's blooming her flowers, she smells just like a soft hint of chocolate/deep vanilla smell. Which is normal since she's still young. I keep her on a steady lighting all year round too. 12 hours a day along with my other plants. Just have patience and keep her hydrated properly as well as stay on a nice light schedule no matter what time of year it is. Oh and she's in the hottest part of our room. We live up north and it gets cold in the winters. So where she sits is where the heat is all around her all the time. So that helps too. Hope this helps everyone. I bought this a year ago and purposely waited to see if it would live. I’m happy to say it’s doing great and has doubled in size with a lot of new growth and new roots. It hasn’t bloomed yet, but I didn’t expect that so soon. It may bloom in another year if it keeps doing well. There was a broken leaf on the big pseudo bulb when I got it, but that hasn’t seemed to affect it. It survived the shipping ok in spite of the broken leaf. Very happy with it.

Arrived in good condition. Mine are still another year away from blooming in my set up. Seem healthy and have grown quite a bit.

Arrived in great shape and secure in the box. Soil had good moisture content. Leaves looked good also. Really surprised me with is condition so I ordered another. It arrived in the same condition. I've had them 6 weeks and am seeing good growth.

Let me start by saying it was very well packed on the outside. The pot was securely packed with strips of newspaper and tape. The plant roots had mostly spagnum moss around them which was completely dry and a plug that seemed like floral arrangement material like very stiff and very dry. The roots were completely dry. The plant itself had one bulb and it was completely shriveled up. One new leaf has the clear sign of dehydration the accordion fan shape which you can clearly see in the picture I posted. I tried my best to pack it loosely in moss and gave it a long soak. I will contact the company about it and see what they would like to do about it. I do not know where it was shipped from but it took a while to get here. I am very sad that it arrived in such rough shape and to be honest I don't think I will buy anymore orchids through the mail. Seller refunded the full price of the orchid very promptly. I have revised my rating to reflect this.
