In 1996, ArtScroll published the Hebrew-English Stone Tanach - a breakthrough in the study of the Jewish Scriptures for Hebrew readers. Now - for English readers - a special edition of the Stone Tanach! Includes many new and enhanced features. Easy to read, understand, and apply to life. A treasured biblical resource for every home, school, and library. All 24 books of the Bible in one superb English-language volume. The ArtScroll English Tanach Over 1400 pages - one-third fewer pages than the Hebrew-English edition. A flowing, readable translation of the entire text of the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings, created by Rabbi Nosson Scherman, in collaboration with an international team of scholars Introduction to each of the 24 books of Tanach Sidebar guides to the text Commentary and notes drawn from classic and contemporary rabbinic sources Biblical maps, timelines, and genealogies Diagrams of priestly vestments (bigdei kehunah) and Temple implements Diagrams of the Tabernacle and Temple layouts Insights on many commonly misunderstood passages Topical reference index Guide to the Tanach - an "at a glance" summary of the content of each parasha in the Torah and each chapter in Nach (the Prophets and Writings) Resource guide for further Jewish learning The ArtScroll English Tanach: 1400 pages of eternity Why an English-only Tanach? In a community where Hebrew is well-understood, an English Tanach is not needed. But since 90% of today's Jews don't read Hebrew, an authentic and authoritative translation of the Jewish Scriptures is vital. The ArtScroll English Tanach may not be for you, but it is surely needed by people you know who may be far removed from Torah, mitzvos, avodas Hashem, and yiras shamayim. You may also find the ArtScroll English Tanach helpful to learning more unfamiliar portions of the Jewish Scripture, such as Navi. Nice, readable Tanakh translation with good commentary and extras
I am not Jewish, nor am I a believer in gods, but I have many bible translations, and I was curious about the Jewish Tanakh. This is one of 3 major Tanakh translations I own. This one organizes the text in a very readable paragraphed single column, with very good and ample commentary at the bottom. It also features a good index and resource guide with maps, timelines, and pedigrees etc. Highly recommended.

The Tanach, providing a Jewish approach to scripture: a delight, an education - all in a small pkg!
The Tanach is often referred to as the Jewish Bible or Old Testament. This is an English only translation, though it incorporates Hebrew names for the various books and many references. The translation is so beautiful at many points and the notes are excellent, as are the appendices. This bible is something of a study bible, though unlike many such bibles it is a moderate (I'd say perfect) size that can be carried around instead of requiring a desk or table to sit at in order to read comfortably. The pages are of a good weight and will not rip as easily as those in many bibles, the binding is professional and meant to last for years, and the cover will delight you. You won't regret buying.

This is the best English Tanakh
It's a great and beautiful Tanakh. The cover is decorated and firm, the pages aren't too thin, and the commentary from Rashi and other Rabbis helps you understand and interpret the passages better. It also contains so many in-depth notes, graphs, and maps in the back. This IS the Tanakh if you're looking for an all English one.

misleading
There is no Hebrew text here! What is this? Some kind of Jewish Approved "Protestant Bible"? scant on commentary. Straightforward text. No real formating. Giving everyone the heads up, in case you are expecting something different.
