Marine Tech Tools 38mm Pin Spanner Wrench AMT0304, L-4 Pins, Yamaha

Worked perfect. Used on Volvo Penta SX-M tilt cylinders. Pins were a little small, but did the job.

This worked great when replacing seals on my hydraulic steering for my outboard motor.

If you've ever worked on your trim and tilt pistons, this is a must have tool. Tried other cheaper, inferior tools with no success. Pins would either not fit at all or would bend and break. This tool made easy going of loosening and removing the cap. Pricey but quality and effective.

Significantly stronger than the off-brands models. A little pricey for my one-time use, but I had no worries about pin breakages, unlike the cheaper brands. Delivery was also very quick and their customer service was helpful to make sure I received the correct adapter for my tilt cap. I highly recommend them

Had seal leak on a 2008 Yamaha f250. Local mechanics said 4-6 weeks to fix. It’s summertime. Decided to do it myself. This is not a complicated job. I only replaced the top 2 seals. Would have been easy to replace all. Only cringy part is getting the caps off. I used 1.5” pvc to place pressure on the tool that allowed me to turn without scarring the caps. Just lower the engine on it. Once you break it lift it. Watch YouTube for instructions. Took maybe 1 hour.

Had to do a little research to be sure that the tool I ordered would indeed fit correctly. Yes, it is on the expensive side, BUT it is a quality item that will get the job done without breaking. The AMT0004 38mm came with the correct pins and also spare pins should the need arise. If you use the tool correctly by keeping it flat to the cap when removing/installing you should have no issues. The AMT0006 36mm tool works for the tilt caps.

Marine tech has always made great quality tools and this one is no exception, works great on my Yamaha outboard.

Bought a cheap "Yamaha F40" pin wrench off ebay - the pins were slightly misaligned and gouged the cap. Ordered this from the US, the quality was clearly much better and it fitted the cap perfectly, Bit of downward pressure and a 2' breaker bar and cracked it off. Worth the extra money.
