Nordictrack Commercial Studio Cycle

I did a lot of research and chose the Nordic Trac as I wanted the realistic experience of doing a road bike ride. I decided to order thru Amazon given the friendly return policy (vs. directly from Nordic Trac where you have to pay $$). I opted for the $20 delivery indoors to the room, which was worth it as its quite heavy/bulky. The setup is straight forward- there is a video on the NT website to follow. All of the screw holes line up, but I did have a problem getting 1 screw to seat correctly to screw in- took me about an hour to resolve this. But other than that assembly was pretty straightforward. The bike is as advertised. Takes a little bit to find the right seat/handlebar adjustments but once you do its great. I opted for the 15 inch screen which is plenty large for my needs. The automatic resistance/incline changes has worked great. The fan is also quite useful- I have the bike in my basement right next to a window I can open, however once I get going I turn the fan on low and it helps. The bike does not have a power switch, so I ordered a surge protector outlet where I can just press a button to turn the machine on. My only complaint - on the roads when you are going downhill you coast to catch your breath - on this bike you have to keep pedaling albeit its much easier when going downhill. As for iFIT, its pretty good. I do a combination of instructor led road bike rides, along with google map rides that either they have created or I create myself. The instructor rides are true videos with narration, where they will tell you the target cadence you should be shooting for. This is quite helpful when they are doing intervals in the workout. I like the length of the workouts also - most are around 30-40 minutes, with some being longer. If I have an hour planned i'll do 1 instructor ride followed by 1 google maps ride. The google maps rides adjust incline according to the terrain, however its not always lined up perfectly with the image. Every 3 seconds or so you get a new image- a lot of them were taken pointing backwards from a car which is a little annoying as you are on the other side of the road. In addition occasionally you will get a random picture of something crazy inserted in for 1 of the shots. They do have interesting rides- i'm just finishing a 10 ride set of colleges in the US which is interesting. They also have mountain bike instructor rides (which I've done and like for variety), and separately have spin classes which I have not tried yet. Overall though I give iFIT a thumbs up. You can map out your schedule ahead of time on the computer (choosing the rides you want to do), and once you finish the ride it moves it into the 'complete' zone and records your stats. Overall i'm quite pleased with this purchase - its not cheap but I've used it more than I expected in my first month. Note I did also purchase the Amazon warranty for 3 years - I figure that for something with so many moving parts/electronics it would be worth doing this. This also comes with annual maintenance. The way I look at it i'm not going to the gym anymore as i'll just do this, so after 2 years it will pay for itself. The only thing I dread is one day moving this thing out of the house- it is quite heavy! But overall I highly recommend this!

I bought this bike right before COVID hit and started riding it. We couldn't have had a better choice right before the gyms shutdown then I got hurt working in our backyard, so I had to stay off of it for about 3 plus months. I decided to wait until I got back onto the bike to measure then and now before writing a review. Here are some things to consider: 1). It is pretty easy to assemble if you can read and have a minimal mechanical ability. 2). My wife is only 5'2" and it really sucks for her because basically you need to be about 5'5" in our opinion to get to use it. Her legs are just not long enough and regardless of how much you adjust the bike it won't work for her, so she quit using it. 3). The programing is pretty good, but the interface could be better and I hate that I have to log into it every time that I want to use it. However, the trainers are really good and the video workouts are excellent. 4). It doesn't power on and off, so I have to use my power strip to turn it off when I'm finished with it. That's a bit of a hassle and something to think about not unless you want it setting there drawing power when you are not using it. I'm no enviro wack job, but I don't like to waste electricity. 5). The seat started to sink in the back regardless of how many times I tightened the mounting system, so I had to create a wooden brace that I put between the back of the seat and the support bar. It works great, but it really shouldn't sink like that and I am not a heavy person. 6). The seat is really uncomfortable, so I just bought a replacement seat and for the price you would think these guys could put a really nice seat on it. 7). It doesn't take up a lot of room, so I love that and it's incredibly easy to move around once assembled. It's very sturdy, except for the seat attachment and I doubt that it will every wear out. 8). I like once you pay the fee and join the club so to speak that you get access to all types of workouts not just bike ones. It's a full fledge video archive of everything that you would want to workout on your body. 9). The website is very easy to use and Nordic does not SPAM you to death. Really, they leave you alone even during my recovery with none of those dumb emails saying they miss me. 10). The WIFI component is very good. 11). The bike is very good at automatically doing the tilt and resistance, so you are not messing around with knobs during your workouts unlike other bikes. 12). You can see what others are doing and compete with them if you chose to do so or do your own thing. That's the ins and out as I see them after using it for three months then getting hurt then coming back three months later. It is a better buy than its competitors. Nordic Trac also stands behind their equipment, but I doubt there is much they can do about their not so good seat design. One last thing I did buy the maintenance plan from Amazon because if that screen goes out then you will be paying as much to fix it as as the bike cost. It's worth the few bucks to protect it even though it is a bumper to bumper plan.

Well, where do I start? How about with the bad news. Like others have stated, the bike is awesome. You get a great workout with the automatic incline/resistance set for you. Unfortunately, that lasted 1 day for me. Since then, I've experienced random reboots, frozen screens, and failure to load the iFit software. In the past 6 weeks, I have spoken to Nordictrack/iFit through emails and chats about 7 times. I was told that the problem might be a controller board which would be ordered for me. That was back in September. As of today (October 27th), I'm still waiting for that part. I've also been asked to factory reset the console. I've done that so many times I can reset it while wearing a blindfold. I was also emailed instructions on how to remove the iFit software and reinstall it. When I did that, the bike worked for about a week. Now, the software no longer loads. Due to this, the bike is stuck in an incline position and the resistance is also stuck on a higher level than I use. I am unable to lower the incline or resistance with the handlebar controls so at this point, the bike is pretty much useless. Each time I start a new support ticket, I receive a similar response that they are sorry that the part replacement is taking longer than expected and suggest that I reset the console again. The problem is, Nordictrack is still manufacturing these bikes so apparently they have enough parts. I should note that at the end of September, I received a call from a local repair company who is contracted to repair Nordictrack equipment The tech I spoke to didn't think that the problem was with the controller board. He also said that it is not uncommon for Nordictrack to take a long time to send out replacement parts and wished me luck in getting the part. Now, for the good news. Thank God I purchased this bike on Amazon. They stand behind the products they sell! I was able to get it returned even though the return window closed a few days ago. Now my big dilemma is whether to order another Noridctrack (thinking I received a "Lemon") or cut my ties with them altogether and go with the Peloton. The reason I didn't go with the Peloton originally was because of the auto incline/resistance during workouts and the worldwide bike rides that Nordictrack offers. If Peloton would come out with something similar, I wouldn't hesitate to go with them. Note to Nordictrack: If you respond to this review, please don't patronize me by leaving your "canned" response of thanking me for the review to help you improve the customer experience. Just sent the replacement parts (on a timely basis) when people need them so they can get back to using their $2.000 bike! Update....11/16/20.... I've had my new bike for about a week now. The difference is like night and day. Once I set up the new bike, I immediately noticed that the monitor was just a bit different. In additional to the normal stats that are on the top of the screen, there are also additional settings on either side of the screen. There are buttons on the left side of the screen that can control the incline and buttons on the right side that can control the resistance. I never had these buttons on my old monitor so I'm not sure if that was part of the problem with the old bike or it was something else. And yes, I was current on software updates for the old bike. The bike now works flawlessly and what one would expect on a high end bike. For those that are having problems with the software, keep contacting Noridctrack/IFit until your problem is resolved. I did notice that when I would respond to an email from them, they would never follow up on my email. The only way I could get them to respond was to create a new support ticket which would then prompt them to email me. Good luck and happy riding!

Quick summary: Buy this it is awesome and currently far superior to peliton on or anything else. Now for the good and bad: Pros Quiet, this think when peddling is so smooth and quiet I could sleep next to it except for the up and down riser and fan. Auto lift and resistance, I use to own a bike store and this feels like a bike going up hill as it changes resistance and incline, best I have felt even compared to more expensive machines. Resistance is unbelievable smooth and since mechanic will never ware out. The iFit is awesome that they can adjust it for you and the programs are great. Keeps you motivated. Controls on screen to quickly jump and controls on bars awesome. Cheaper membership than competitors, You get one year family membership free and its cheaper per month. Can make own bike rout and it uses google maps. How awesome my wife is from over seas and she can bike around her neighborhood, or places we went on vacation! So many possibilities to keep you entertained. Cons: iFit had some issues tech support bad! But we are in the mits of Corana not sure if that is affecting things. iFit - I can't get second user signed up been trying for days, no one answer chats or phone Factory seat is hard, just go get a better one. While your at it get spd peddles ;) Shipping- Amazon used a service, they had no lift gate and arrived with box torn and in piece. Missing and broken parts! Nortitrack not answering phone gave up ate 20 min. Fan is loud they made a nice quiet bike and installed a average fan which is the loudest thing on the bike. Downfalls: Unlike Peloton no AirPlay or streaming! Although the screen is great if you want to do other programs like Yoga your suppose to swivel the screen around this doesn't work in my room and also it is way to high, or what if your bike is around the corner. Note: My company now sets up high end home gyms and always put in projectors or tv's. So fitness classes can be projected. Also in stead of a 18" monitor you can have a 120" projector in front of you better experience. This is a major bummer that there is no monitor out or airplay. Monitor moves a lot when peddling hard. The monitor is connected to the bars the machine flexes when pumping hard. this causes the monitor to move back and forth about a inch and you cant read it, also standing your right on top of it! The monitor should of anchored to the base not the bars. Also disclamer I am 230 lbs and as I said had a bike shop so I have big legs, the bike could be a little more stable but compared to others in this price it is fine. Bar High limited, The bars are a bit short for my wife. Perfectly fine but she woudl like them higher and they can't be raised. Also the little bar int he middle touches the tray, the try should of been mounted back further not to interfere and allow more bar positions. Wish fan swiveled and was not pointed at my face when monitor is pointed at face simple louvers would of fixed this. No way to turn this off! Screen stays on all the time, not sure if it will ware out but a off switch would be nice not to save power and disconnect so if there is a power spike it is not on. Also it does put out light it could be a problem in a bedroom or apartment you will be forced to unplug it and crash the app to turn off. Runs on android. A more condensed or slightly transparent stat bar would be nice stat bar at top is white and about a " takes up a lot of restate. I want the stats just not in my face. Again I do recommend this bike this is far better than anything else and with iFit on treadmills, ellipticals, work out machines etc they have a extensive line, more complete than anyone else.

After much investigation, we decided to go with the S22i over the Peloton. We love the the library of rides that can be done with trainers all over the world ! And this was our main reason for choosing it. This makes the boredom of indoor riding disappear. Large screen is a must. Would love it too if it weren't for the flaky touch-screen under sensitivity. Thumbs down. Did not like the seat provided. Ditch it and buy a pre-broken-in Brooks B17 saddle. Have them on all my bikes; can ride for hours and hours without problems. 1st big problem was installing my own pedals. This was a pain. Taking off the original pedals was easy, as they are like the older fashion of style where there is a double shoulder to slip a wrench onto. This is on the outside of the crank-arm; so easy to get to and take off. Which ever pedal you use, I would advise using a thread-lock liquid or paste on them. The problem is that most clipless pedals use a hex wrench that must be used from the inner side of the crank-arm. But the S22i does not give amply clearance to get the wrench in. The plastic housing is in the way. As an experienced mechanical aptitude person this should have been easy but it was not. To me, this is an engineering problem that should be corrected. The next big problem was, after 2.5 weeks of using it, the resistance and the incline would not work. Tried all the fixes, nothing worked. Called NordicTrack, was overly time consuming to get a live person. Had to try all the fixes over again. No change. Then, without further ado, was told it was the "Operational Board" that would have to be replaced by myself. Even though new and under warranty, because of Covid-19, they had no idea of when they could send someone to fix it. No problem, just send me the part and I can install it. They ordered the part and was told I would be updated. A week went by and I heard nothing. Finally I contacted them, again that took wasted time, and was told the part was on back order and there was no ETA on them getting the part in. Needless to say, this is very frustrating to have a brand new bike that is broken after 2.5 weeks. After doing some more research online I find I'm not the only one. *UPDATE* w/Happy Ending. So, after 2 weeks the part (Operational Board) I needed, arrived. Never received any notice of it being shipped. Would have been nice to get some notice, a text or email. Please !! That's no problem with other online sellers. Come on NordicTrack, that internet technology has been around for 20 years+. Installing the part was a bit of a pain because the screws that had to be removed were in very very tight. In hind-sight, that's a good thing, you don't want screws coming loose. The board was installed and now the incline and resistance work fine !! Yaaaaaaa When the bike was started after the install, the incline and resistance would not "follow the trainer." At the same time the screen was prompting us to update the software. So we did, however after the download and install the screen would just blank-out to a white screen with nothing ever changing and no option to do anything. So disappointing after all the waiting and work. Called iFit service and got immediate help This turned out to be a software problem for both issues and was told iFit was working on a fix. The (over the phone) software tech had me get into the administration system through a software back-door and install the update. This worked without any problem and now the s22i worked as it should ! We are so happy now. !!! We love this bike. As regular road riders, it's so nice to have this bike to ride when the weather is unfavorable or at night time. We use to dislike our indoor trainers because of the boredom, not so now with the s22i. We never get bored and the time flies bye as we ride along with trainers in places all over the world. So, to finish and conclude, we love this bike.

I’ve always been into fitness and have spent much time in the gym. I was looking for something different and a little more convenient than the 5 days of driving 30 minutes roundtrip. There were days I just needed some cardio. I couldn’t always take my bike outside and running actually impacts me harder than it helps. My search for the best machine began! Now, at the time, I knew peloton was the bike to get, but as I researched, I actually learned that the features were all the same if not better. The only extra from a peloton was the ability to connect to an iPhone. I didn’t necessarily need that. The price was what did it for me. The S22i is a similar feature model a the bike plus peloton but I paid $1,000 less. When I found it available on Amazon, I watched how the price would change. So I waited. The night before my 38th birthday, we all were talking about fitness equipment and the debate about the better bike began. After I shared my research, I decided to jump back on Amazon. To my surprise, the cost was now even cheaper than $250. It was an open/damaged item. I wondered, would Amazon resell a faulty product. If so, I would just return it. I rolled the dice. Bought the iFit membership add-on ( though it came with it for one year) and the Amazon service to put it together. Figured the expects cold do it faster than me. Plus I was already in the black by $250. What the hell! The bike had a two week delivery lead time. I was patient and watched the tracking. It was delayed. Ugh, what did I do. I should have just ordered a peloton. Course the peloton was like 3 months. The bike box finally showed up. Yes, it was damaged, a small tear on the end of the box. Yes!! Hopefully the rest of the contents were okay. The next day the technician came, put it together in about an hour. Would have taken me three! She did great. I was in business. Oh shoot, the bike was assembled in the garage. My neighbor came over and helped me lug it up to my office (figured if I look at it everyday, I’d be more apt to use it vs the basement). I was in business. Set up my account and I was off. First ride, a fun easy ride in Hawaii. Perfect. I was on my way. I started riding March 4th. To date I am 8 rides away from 100 ( free t-shirt to motivate me). More importantly, I feel great. The bike is doing just what I needed. When I have a busy work day, I don’t stress about how ill find time to get to the gym. I am happy and didn’t break the bank by this amazing investment I made into my fitness. I still go to the gym, but I ride my bike more. The hour rides are fun and intense. The in-class rides kick my ass. The iFit people do a great job. I’m very pleased with my nordy and have even recommended to friends who also have purchased it. Pros Price Automatic resistance and grade changes (peloton makes you spin the nob) Built in fan to cool you off Monitor size Videos available to use for your workout I’m sure many more that I’m missing Cons I do think iFit could offer more live videos Touchscreen is sensitive. You have to really press it to control There’s no off switch, you have to unplug it which I find to be odd. Lastly, the common complaint is that the screen wobbles a bit, which is true Pros definitely outweigh the cons Go iFit and go nordictrac

So I’ve been cycling since I was in middle school. Been spinning the cranks for over 40 years. Had a couple friends in the last 6 years killed by texters or drunk drivers. I desperately needed to find a way to stay in shape, do something I enjoy, and not get hit by a motorist. I researched all the big companies and tried several in person. The most important aspect to me that made the Nordictrack stand miles ahead of their competitors was the auto-adjustment, caliber of the trainers, and the feeling like I’m actually on the street riding and tackling the terrain. I hate spin classes and I didn’t want a spin bike. Im all about the journey from point A to point B and if I happen to get some good exercise as well, then great. I didn’t want something that was going to be boring or just about cardio or spinning the cranks. I wanted something that would keep me coming back again and again. Well the S22i is exactly what I wanted/needed. It is fun, works flawlessly with adjusting the resistance and incline, and has a huge library of different rides. I can choose to ride some of the Tour De France roads, travel through the streets of Vietnam or Japan, or tackle the mountain trails of Utah. All from the convenience of my house. The unit is extremely quiet and has all sorts of ways to adjust your ride to make it perfect. My wife works from home so the ability to pair it with a Bluetooth device was incredibly important. I put my own cranks on it from my Trek as well as my saddle and it feels just like my road bike. The integrated fan also really helps when breaking a good sweat and feels like a good downhill breeze in the face. My wife, who’s NOT a cyclist loves the fact that she can still use some of the trainers and do Yoga or a huge variety of other workouts that don’t require the bike. She simply turns the screen to the side so she can see all the action. She gets all the motivation and activity she needs. I’m so glad I bought this from Amazon. It was super easy to assemble, the price was perfect, and it is better than the bikes my friends have from Peloton or Bowflex. They are actually jealous of my bike. If you are looking for a good and safe replacement for city riding, then look no further cause the S22i is for you.

I received my new Nordic Track S22i exercise bike about three weeks ago. When I assembled it and plugged it in the only thing the screen would do is flash solid colors from black to white, green, red, blue, then start the sequence over again. No problem. I call customer service, go through the video portion of the call to the service person can send pics and video to a technician and attempt to come up with an answer. The technician said it was a wiring issue and not the console because they knew power was getting to the console or it wouldn’t be flashing colors. I thought that was BS but hey, I’m not a technician. They said the new harness should be here in 7 to 10 days. I figured “how hard could it be to replace? They wouldn’t send me one if it was a major deal.” WRONG. I received 4 separate harnesses with no direction. After I figured out which one went where I realized I would have to take the entire bike down to replace them. I mean cut zip ties, remove glue stops, TAKE THE CONTROL PADS OUT OF THE HANDLE BARS, everything. So, I go at the project. 8 hours later I have the bike striped down all factory stays cut off, the wires run back through the frame and handle bar tubes. Plug it in, and it does the exact same thing it was doing 8 hours before my foray. I call customer service back. Now they say if it wasn’t the wiring harness it must be the console. “No kidding” I thought. Now they are going to send me a new console that should take 10 to 14 business days to get here. I mentioned that I was pretty unhappy that I now had a very expensive, brand-new bike that had been butchered by me at the bequest of the company. Of course, the remorse was overwhelming but that and 20 bucks will get you a cup of coffee. Then she said, “when the console gets there call us and we will schedule a technician to come out, mount it and do a diagnostic on the bike.” I said “What? Did you say a technician will come here, take out 4 screws, and unplug 2 wires then do a DIAGNOSTIC on the bike?” If they had a local technician in the first place, that could simply run a diagnostic to know exactly what was wrong the why in the hell did have to do major surgery in the first place? That’s when it hit me; I bet I just voided the warranty. I don’t know the answers to any of this yet, but I should in 10 to 14 business days. One thing I do know it that I will be dead and in hell riding around lava pits before I EVER buy another Nordic track again. Update, 9/28/2023. I am still at the mercy of ifit customer service. New wiring harness, same problem, new monitor, I guess it's someplace between here and Mali being delivered by 2 kids and a goat cart because it's not here. I called hell today to try and head off an issue. The incline and resistance buttons have never worked. so I figured I'd get the interstellar moon shuttle that's going to have to deliver those parts up and running to save time. Oh no friends and neighbors. Im told that the parts that didn't work out of the box, and still don't work with a new wiring harness might have a wiring issue. I swear to you, if there was any possible way I could have gone all ethereal, slid through the phone lines and strangled the guy on the other end I would have. They can't order those buttons until the technician comes out, pronounces them clearly and sincerely dead, then HE will order them. I see this $1700 lump of worthless aggravation sitting at the end of the my driveway with a "free" sign on it in the very near future. Of course then a car will probably hit it and I'll be sued. Oh, also, I can't return it to Amazon because it has to be taken apart and repackaged in the original box. I recycled that box 2 weeks after the bike got here and 2 weeks before I realized I was dealing with petulant children that apparently think customer service is the same as when bulls service cows. That they've been doing in spades.
