desertcart.com: Doodle Chaos: Zifflin's Coloring Book: 9781523834778: Zifflin, Ranada, Irvin: Books Review: Another great coloring book in the “Doodle” series by Zifflin – printed on one side of non-perforated paper - The “Doodle” series is a fun set of coloring books that push the envelope on coloring designs. I own “Doodle Invasion” and “Doodle Fusion” and have enjoyed coloring the designs by the artists who teamed up with Zifflin on those books. “Doodle Chaos” has yet another new artist (to me), Irvin Ranada. Once again, the central theme is quirky little characters, animals, and other odd bits and pieces are drawn in such a way as to create another image (I especially like the take on the Statue of Liberty and New York City) or to create a silly or cute vignette (such as the little critters in the gumball machine.) The 32 designs are fun to color as your imagination can take over and you can use any color you wish. The designs are printed on one side of thin white non-perforated paper. The binding is glued rather than sewn, so you will have to cut pages out if you choose to remove them from the book. Almost all of the designs in the book merge into the binding, so you will lose parts of the design if you remove them from the book. By breaking the spine somewhat, I was able to get the book to lay fairly flat. All of my markers, India ink art pens, and gel pens leak through this paper to some degree. My coloring pencils work well but the hard lead pencils leave an indent on the back of the page. Because of the paper, I will always use a blotter page (card stock or heavy weight paper) under the page I am working on to keep the following design from being ruined by leaking ink and/or dents from my hard lead pencils. I will list, in the comments section below, the coloring mediums I used to test this coloring book. Review: Fun, cute, weird, and relaxing! - This book is really fun to color in! I looked at all three of the Doodle series books from Zifflin before choosing this one. I feel like it has the highest quality of illustrations as a whole - or at least ones that were most appealing to me. I love this book when I just want to do some silly coloring without worrying too much about shading. It's fun and weird and whimsical all wrapped up in one and is a great way to relax without getting too absorbed in coloring. Each little page has tons of different objects and creatures hidden within it. You can spend an hour looking at one page and still probably not find everything! The more you color, the more things you'll find. It very much reminds me of the hidden object scavenger hunt pages I did as a child. It's so hard to give a rating to coloring books because two "great" books can be completely different! Do I love this as much as Hanna Karlzon illustrations? No. Is it as breathtaking as Colin Thompson's Fantastisches Malbuch? No. Is it great in it's own right? Yes! While I may give 5 stars to each of these books, it's for entirely different reasons and because each is a high-quality book within its own genre. Even if it's not my personal favorite, I can say that if you love silly doodle coloring books, you'll probably love this! The paper quality is not the best. It is better than copy paper, but not something that's going to handle abuse with watercolors or water-based markers. I've been using Staedtler Ergosoft in mine and they blend and layer decently with a light hand. I may not be getting the same depth I get with Polychromos on better paper, but that's okay. This paper will also handle alcohol markers great - that's probably its strongest suit. Just put a blotter page behind it and color away. It has single-sided printing so you won't have to worry about destroying the image on the back side.

Epic
I absolutely love this!! Because of the style of doodles you never get bored! I highly recommend. Only issue is paper is kinda thin so markers leak through but I just put a blank peice of computer paper under and it's fine.

Creative, Relaxing, Feel good, Fun, COLOR COLOR COLOR!!!!
I love it. First time trying Doodle Invasion series and I am now fascinated with them. Books are in Prestine condition, pages are single sided. Pages don't tear out which is kind of a bummer. But not a deal breaker. Well worth the money, if you don't have it, buy it, or gift it to someone who would appreciate an amazingly, fun, creative, and joy filled, coloring book.

Perfect.
*in my informercial voice* You ever just want to get lost in coloring? This is the perfect coloring book! Do you love random things thrown together and somehow works AND it relaxes you? THIS IS THE BOOK! You have over 300 coloring instruments and you don’t think you can use them all in one picture? PICK THIS BOOK! This was made specifically for people who LOVE detailed pages and intricate designs. This was made for ppl who have a massive collection of coloring tools. I spent a couple hours and over 100 different colors on the first page(in pics) and I’m still not done. 💜💜 The ONLY “flaw” is: it’s not on mixed media paper so it does bleed through esp with alcohol markers HOWEVER, it’s not really an issue; more of an inconvenience; because the designs are only on one side of the sheet AND using a thick piece of paper(an extra piece poster board works) stops it from bleeding through. 12/10 would buy again

Odd, amazing, time consuming, PERFECT!
Odd, amazing, time consuming, PERFECT! I love to color! But I dislike most adult coloring books, because who wants to just color flowers or shapes? I don't. I love this book because there is so much detail in every page. Each page has so many endless options for the way it will turn out. I have 2 other coloring books by Zifflin, and I love them all! This book is perfect for those days that you just need an hour to lose yourself in something. Each little character in his books are detailed and have a life of their own. I do suggest that you place a few pieces of paper under the page you are coloring if you are using markers to prevent bleed through. I can't wait for more books like this to come out as I truly do love all of his books.

Me encanta aunque las hojas son finas y traspasa y tiene algunos dibujos que ocupan toda la hoja y eso no me gusta
