Vivid, courageous, and candid, the poetry of Sierra deMulder speaks straight to the heart. Dear you: Whoever you are, However you got here, This is exactly where you are supposed to be. This moment has waited its whole life for you. These are the opening lines of "Today Means Amen," YouTube star Sierra deMulderโs immensely powerful and virally popular poem, which lends its title to this collection. Like her fellow Millennial poets Tyler Knot Gregson, Clementine von Radics, and Lang Leav, Sierra has the gift of speaking directly to the reader. โToday Means Amenโ has become an anthem of sorts to thousands, who find themselves reflected in its pain, its fierceness, its tenderness โ but also in its triumphant culminating refrain: You made it You made it You made it Here. The poems in Sierra's new book explore the rocky terrains of love, family, and womanhood with this same remarkable honesty and generosity. Today Means Amen brings this important young poet's work to an even broader audience. Review: Wow. - I have said for years, and this book confirms, Sierra DeMulder is one of the most important voices in modern American poetry. Her willingness to lay bare the most vulnerable edges of her soul is only exceeded in beauty by her delicate, graceful descriptive abilities. From the car-crash painful, jarring confrontations of sexual passion to the light-handed ease of her bond with her young niece, it's hard to go more than 2-3 pages without putting the book down to simply breathe it all in. I could write a book about this book (for real), and can (and will) defend that there are no less than three 100% perfect poems inside. I've read it about 3 times now, and it will take many more times to know for sure, but this may well be one of my favorite books of poetry ever published. Also, none of this is hyperbole. For serious. Review: Thank you.... - This is an amazing collection of poetry written from the depths of her experience. I was looking for a series of poems that I could use in helping me communicate with people who are struggling in every day situations. Some of the work in here will help me do exactly that. Those, along with the rest, will help me personally to take time and think about how my experiences have shaped me in relation to the myriad themes she unravels. Easy to carry, but not light reading.

Buy this book for you and buy one for your worst enemy: he/she needs this too
Sierra DeMulder combines every kind of heartbreak in Today Means Amen and somehow it heals parts of you that you didn't know you needed or wanted healed. She makes it very clear that the human spirit and the ability to express it are alive and well. Buy this book for you and buy one for your worst enemy: he/she needs this too.

Honesty
If you are looking for honesty, you'll find it here. In her poems Sierra shares her story, and not only her own story, but also of those who touch her life. She touches on the fragile truth of her sister's eating disorder. She paints a picture of her mother in pain. Sierra's words reach the heart that is aching for relation.

Her work should be required reading for all.
I'm a HUGE fan of Sierra DeMulder. This collection is just as magical as all of her work. I love how she is so honest and unrepentant. She will make you laugh and make you cry in the same poem (i.e.: For Livia, Age 8). Her work should be required reading for all.

I have purchased every title released by this phenomenal poet and could not recommend this volume more
Sierra delivers verse after verse of personal and moving poetry. I have purchased every title released by this phenomenal poet and could not recommend this volume more. It is difficult to surpass her previous efforts, but this is does exactly that. From the titular Today Means Amen, life affirming and hopeful to A Thousand Pieces, a dark and moving tribute to a woman's abuse this collection of poems is inspired.

I keep needing to buy more copies because I give them away
A wild woman poetess of the highest order, Sierra DeMulderโs writing does not disappoint- rather, it finds you in the darkness, lifts you into the light, and reminds you that the precious imperfections and impermanence of life are what make it worth living. Do yourself a favor and get familiar with her work.

Powerful, Approachable, and Just Wonderful
This is wonderful. Powerful emotion and vulnerability in her writing. It's inviting and disarming ~ in some of these works, I really find deep, personal meaning. I've really enjoyed this!
