AZUMI 2 - DVD Movie Review: Superbly Outstanding Conclusion - Let me chime in on this movie, I’ve read where some say this wasn’t as good as the first one, I totally disagree with their depiction of this second movie, I found it quit as good and entertaining as the first movie, there were some far out scenes in this movie as was in the first movie, but I do recommend that you see this version so you can better understand the the conclusion of the plot this movie portrays, the conclusion come full circle to its cinematic ending, but I wish there was a part three to see where Azumi’s life leads to. But if you saw the first one you need to add the second one to your library of DVD’s. Review: great movie - great achtion movie great story line great action sceces good love scenes great actoress better then azumi part 1 shoud buy

great sequel!
very few sequels are good. fewer sequels pick up where the last one left off. even more seldom do you get the rare combination of both. but with Azumi2 you get just that. same characters from the first (well, only 2 survived but watch it for the twist). she continues the same mission and is just as kick ass as she was originally. this movie was great. this is why asian cinema is so amazing. they break barriers with their originality and follow-ups. another very good movie. almost as good as the original.

its in English
just to let everyone know the item description does not say it is dub in English only Japanese, however it is 5.1 English surround. i was going to return it till i found one that was English dub, happy to know when i open package that i didn't have to sit there and read while trying to watch the action. I loved the first one, but i haven't really had time to sit a watch this one.. so i cant give a proper review. BTW the ISBN 1-932471-43-X is the copy to get if you want English dub

This was good, The FIRST was BETTER
Let's put it this way, when I watched the first AZUMI, I fell in love with it and watched it again a few days later. Then watched it a 3rd time in another few days. I love Aya Ueto, the lead actress playing Azumi. I love all the other actors/actresses as well. (Even my home girl, veteran actress Reiko Takashima) but AZUMI 2 was a little bit of a let down. Don't get me wrong, it is in fact an entertaining movie. But it lost the "spark" of the first film. I recommend AZUMI 2 to fans of Asian cinema, Action films and Movie Buffs. Can you live with out seeing Azumi 2? Yes, you can. But if you like the actors and actresses, and these types of films then it is at least worth checking out.

DEATH OR LOVE ?!

This girl's got skills (and some competition)
If you enjoyed the original then you'll definitely enjoy this sequel, which carries on the story immediately after the events of the first film. There are a few cheesy/corny moments in the film, particularly bringing back her deceased friend/boyfriend from the original film as a lookalike new character, but there's also plenty of story & action to get your teeth into as well. Actress Aya Ueto is still as sweet, awesome & convincing in the lead role as she was in the original, however, she meets her match here in perhaps one of the sexiest villainesses ever put on screen (played by veteran actress Reiko Takashima) who just oozes charisma, menace & sex appeal whenever she's on screen. Overall, if you loved Azumi then you'll undoubtedly enjoy this sequel as well.

“All the good people. They all die.” [Azumi]
This 2005 sequel [with automatic English subtitles] carries on almost exactly after the first movie as we see Azumi attempt to complete her ‘mission’, the assassination of the last lord who sided with the Toyotomis. As they try to outrun the latest ninja’ sent after them, they soon encounter a group of bandits and some allied Ninja’, but who exactly are the ‘good guys’ and will the mission ever be completed? Firstly, it’s not essential to see the first film, but it will help or the flashback scenes may seem irrelevant in places. The dropped in scenery may be a little blurred in places and the pace a bit relaxed at the beginning, but this soon gets into gear as they head off. The gushing squirty blood remains but the fight scenes are somewhat smaller –but equally impressive as the first, with more formidable opponents thrown into the mix. The comic book style remains equally engrossing while the morality of the ‘quest’ is often questioned as the characters start relating to the world and people around them–something sadly lacking in most adventure films. The disc offers play, set-up [original stereo/5.1], scenes, extras [trailer, making of] and other releases. It should be noted this is the UK version which is actually 4 minutes longer. Rated 18 due to the over the top action gore the basic plot is rather obvious but it still entertains even though the ‘soul’ searching may elude many viewers. It’s not the same style as the first, but that simply makes it different and still gets a grudging *****.
