Great value bike rack tray!
Is it perfect? No; but it’s very well close to it! The best part is that this is about half the price of a comparable Kuat/Thule/Yakima system. Obviously half the cost = half the quality. This isnt’ a heavy duty bike rack that I would put an E-Bike on, but for road, hybrid, and mountain bikes of different sizes. I believe this holds up to about 35-40 lbs per bike. I have 2 road bikes mounted on and have gone on about a hundred mile drive round trip through the hills with no issues of what-so-ever. Overall i like this rack and i think its worth if you’re considering the Kuat/Thule/Yakima tray systems but dont want to shell out that kind of cash. Pros: - easy to install/remove from vehicle - pretty lightweight (compared to my old steel bike racks) - pretty easy to put on and take off the bikes (once you get used to it) - able to open the tailgate with a bike mounted on* (only if 1 bike and if mounted on the outer tray; but ability to open tailget subject to handlebar size) - Anti-rattle screw system works great Cons: - Limited tilt away angle to open tailgate. Wish it would angle more.

Perfect All-in-one hitch rack
After weeks of searching the right balance between decently priced and meeting all my requirements I finally landed on the "Allen Sports Premier Locking Tray Rack". This rack fit perfectly into my 2" receiver and offers the option for 1 1/4. Easy to set up, sturdy look and feel, and stows up when not in use. I was able to load and unload both bikes with no issues and had no issues while in transit (I read reviews of other brands that they made lots of noise and moved around a lot). My favorite part has got to be the locking hitch as well as the locking arms that go over the front tires. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with this product and even happier at the price when compared to other big name brands asking for double the price.

Missing Parts and Cheaply Made
This item of arrived pot well it had never been opened before. The instructions appear to only be in German. The boss really advertises compatible with one and a half or 2 in hitches. However, the box I received did not come with the required adapter plate. I attempted to contact Alan sports but wasn't able to reach a human. A determined that there really is no support for this. It's very unlikely a warranty support would actually go through and it was missing parts upon me receiving it. There were other people who commented the same in other reviews, but I was hoping it was just a fluke. Aside from the missing part and being completely unable to use the product, it's notable that most of the materials used are either plastic or fairly flimsy aluminum. This isn't the strong steel product that's advertised. I'm not sure if the seller is just swapping one product with another and selling something inferior or if it's just a crummy product. Great Bike Rack, But ...
As for transporting bikes, this is one of, if not the best. Mounting is easy and even mounting two bikes only takes a minute or two at the most. The bikes are perfectly secure as my 1000 mile trip over various quality roads attests. It is well built and requires minimal and simple assembly. The trunk of my car can be opened and accessed even while the bikes are on the tray, but obviously not as easy as it would be without the rack. When not in use, the tray folds up neatly and easily. I bought this particular rack because of all the tray mounts I viewed, this one was about the lightest at 32 lbs, and I've enjoyed and appreciated my other Allen products. I wanted a tray mount because I recently purchased a carbon frame bike and I didn't like the idea of hanging the frame by the top tube as my other Allen Rack requires. The bike mfr said it was OK to do that, if I secured it properly, but I just didn't like the idea. The only drawback I've encountered is putting it in the hitch receiver (1 1/4"). I have a sedan and that is part of the problem as the hitch itself is fairly low. For reasons I cannot explain, I did mount it fairly easily the first two times I tried, but since then I haven't been able to do without help. With help, it's a snap. Holding the rack and getting it into a receiver that is this low is made a bit more difficult because whenever I get it close or need to tilt this way or that, I can't see what I'm doing. Sometimes this is my vision weakness, other times the rack itself blocks my vision. I'm 6' 0" tall and strong enough to lift 32 lbs without much difficulty. It's getting it in and mounted that is the issue. My instinct tells me this might be easier with a 2" receiver, but I haven't tried that yet. If a potential buyer has a pickup or SUV with the hitch receiver that is higher than a sedan, that might make things easier. I might get better at it with practice, too. If a buyer intends to put it on and leave it on for extended periods, the problem I'm having shouldn't be an issue. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could. I've used other Allen products and loved them all. I love this one, too, I just wish mounting it was easier.

Great Bike Rack for the price
Definitely recommend this bike rack! It's better quality than I thought it would be tbh and fits into my 2 inch hitch really well and is quite sturdy. The locking arms and hitch work great too and are super easy to use. It is really adjustable and fit 2 bikes with ease. I saw another review that mention the tire straps and he was right; they are a bit long and can be a pain to deal with, but not so much so that it should affect your decision to buy. Ultimately, this is up there with Thule in my book but not quite a kuat. I think the price point is just right and makes it a solid bargain.

Solid construction & safe
It took a few hours for my husband and I to put this together; we wanted to make sure we read the directions a few times to understand the names of the parts referred to and any snafus. For the most part, directions were clear & diagrams helpful. Previous reviewers' comments were also very helpful re: the stiff red straps for the wheels and positioning the front wheel base in the correct direction. But, we came across 3 snafus of our own. First, we had trouble inserting the front wheel part into the frame- metal against metal. We found that by waxing (from a candle) the sides of the front wheel insert, it slid more easily into the frame. Our second problem had to do with the locking mechanism. It didn't seem to function as the directions indicated- clockwise, counter-clockwise, locking, etc. This was a frustration, but not a deal breaker. We installed & secured our 2 bikes as directed, putting the largest one on first. Neither my husband nor I are very strong, but it was fairly easy to install the bikes and they seemed secure after a short trial run around the block. Our third snafu was more of an issue for us. When we tried to remove the entire rack from the hitch, it would not budge. We followed insertion directions & didn't put the rack in too deeply beyond the silver button as described in the manual. But we had visions of having to live with the rack forever in place or pay to have it removed somehow. My husband spent some time searching for a video to help & was able to find one that better explained the locking mechanism & how to detach the rack from the hitch. We were finally able to get the rack off fairly easily, but it does take two people & some slight rocking. Hopefully, this process will get easier as we use the rack over time (fingers crossed). The rack is made from solid metal; the thick plastic straps are tricky, but secure the wheels well; the spur arms to secure bikes on the top work well, and we love the ability to move the rack up when bikes are not on it. We did add a few of our own bungee cords to keep things secure, but they really may not be needed. But we feel better safe than sorry. We have used it twice for short distances at speeds no higher than 45mph, but I suspect it will feel just as safe at higher speeds. The bikes seem safe and well-secured. There are no rattling noises from the rack or the bikes. We look forward to using this well-constructed rack for years to come & we can strongly recommend it... but read the directions, re-read the directions, watch the videos, read the directions again, and again, and take your time.

Easy peasy
Fits my tiny little sports car perfectly, although I have to be careful bottoming it out in some situations. Just have to take those at an angle. That's the fault of my low car, I think. I can even put it on the car myself, a 78 year old woman. It does seem a little wobbly, but it's firmly attached to the car so I just ignore the wobblies.

Great rack, better support
The 1bike rack has been working like a charm for 2 years. Easy to use regularly, study, safe and good looking. Not a single issue on heavy utilization. I can only recommend it. But the BEST part of it it has been the customer support. I have reached out a couple of times since we bought it with some questions and they are really responsive and helpful. This last week, the clamp for the wheel stooped working and the guys at Allen have provided a solution in just one day. I cannot ask for better product support. Great product and value for your money. Outstanding customer support.
