Stunningly beautiful, informative book for all rock and pebble lovers
Do you like rocks and pebbles? Does your friend like rocks and pebbles? Does your kid insist on bringing an extra rucksack on every single trip/holiday, specifically for rocks and pebbles - whilst still finding ways to sneak rocks and pebbles into your beach tote whilst you're not watching? Then this is the book for you. Turn rock and pebble collecting into a useful geological learning, instead of just an excess baggage payment on Easyjet*, with this handy, little** book. I've learnt more about rocks and pebbles in one day, than I knew in a lifetime (42 years), and I was mildly interested already. My child takes this book on every trip now. 100% worth the investment. *it's illegal to smuggle rocks and pebbles and as such please take this comment with a pinch of sea-salt. **it actually is quite a small book.

Not Suitable For Identifying Pebbles Accurately
I was very disappointed with the quality of the illustrations and returned the book as it did not serve my intended purpose of identifying the pebbles I find. I feel the book needs photographs to be of any use, not ‘pretty drawings’. Something to leave on the coffee table possibly yes, but something to be used and valued definitely no!

Very informative.
Grandson loves this book, keeps him occupied for hours. After collecting his stones he sits and looks up in this book And writes down all the names in his notebook.

Daughter loved it
This is a lovely little book. It is a different take on a geology guide but as well as having pebble drawings and descriptions it has snippets of poetry and other side topics like prehistoric painted pebbles or how to skim a stone. There is space to write in where and when you find each type of pebble. It's hardback with nice thick paper pages so feels like a high quality little book - although it is small it is heavier than other I Spy type books.

Education
I ordered this to become more informed, now I also ordered one for a grandson too, so hopefully we can recognise pebbles on the beach.

Absolute Empfehlung
Absolut süßes Buch. Meine Kinder lieben es ihre Schätze darin nachzuschlagen. Wir nehmen es gerne mit auf unsere Abenteuer.

Not very helpful
The has pretty illustrations but they aren’t of much use for identifying pebbles. Similarly the descriptions are engaging but unhelpful. If you want a pretty book with some surface level information about beach pebbles (most of it only relevant to people in the UK) this book might fit the bill. If you’re a beginning rock hunter, especially one from outside the UK it isn’t much use.

This book is fun!
An enjoyable little book. It inspired me to examine my pebble collection more closely. The illustrations are very nice. No problems with purchase. It is now on my coffee table, alongside a bowl of prized pebbles.

a gift that pleased!
Bought this as a gift for my daughter who has been a rock hunter for many years. She says it is well written and has good photos. You can believe her - she knows rocks!
