Do you need to buy a separate connection piece or does it clip right on the gutter once you take the downspout off?

Accepted Answer

All chains we sell come with a hanging hook that will allow you to hang it from a gutter hole right out of the box. But we also sell a gutter adapter separately as well, which would be used instead of the hanging hook. The gutter adapter (also called a "gutter installer") is a more robust way of hanging the chain, but both will work fine.

Question 2

are these considered small, medium or large in terms of how much water they can handle?

Accepted Answer

These are probably closest to a medium size for rain chains. But since it is an open system, it doesn't really get backed up if there is too much water flow. It simply flows over the sides of the cups.

Can you use these on houses without gutters?

Accepted Answer

It will only be functional (catch runoff from your roof and direct it downward) if there is a way for the water to be funneled on to the chain. We have seen some people build a custom catchment system where two rooflines meet to funnel the water on to a chain. But short of a custom solution like this, on a house without gutters, it will usually only be decorative.

Question 4

Can a  rain chain work with no gutter for roof crevice?   Current Home does not have gutters.

Accepted Answer

We have seen this done, but you will most likely need to modify where the water runs off your roof in such a way that the water is captured by a receptacle and then funneled to the rain chain. There is no standard way to do this, but follow the link below, which is a google search, and you can get some ideas of how others have done this:
