My nephews, ages seven and nine, received "The Mysteries of the Universe" as a gift, and it's safe to say it was a huge hit! They're both curious about space, but this book has turned that curiosity into a full-blown obsession. The younger one loves the pictures. He'll spend ages flipping through the pages, pointing out the stunning photos of planets, galaxies, and black holes. The visuals are so captivating that they've made a difficult topic like space easy for him to understand. He's constantly asking me questions, like "Is that what a black hole really looks like?" The nine-year-old, who loves to read, has been absorbed in the book's details. He was already a bit of a space nerd, but this book has introduced him to all sorts of new facts. He's especially fascinated by the sections on space exploration and the different types of stars. He's been spouting off facts about the Voyager spacecraft and the life cycle of stars during dinner, which is pretty amazing to see. Overall, this book is perfect for kids with a thirst for knowledge. It's a fantastic blend of incredible visuals and fascinating information that keeps them engaged. Amazing value for your money. Such a steal. The book is sturdy, beautiful, and educational. It's probably middle school level reading but my 4 yr old is obsessed with space and loves this book. It's the only thing he cared about Christmas morning. The color on the cover is rubbing off on the edges after only a few weeks and the gold on the pages is also showing some wear but we look at this book DAILY. So overall we're completely pleased and impressed with this purchase. Most of the photos are real rather than illustrations and have explanations for each one as well as facts about what is pictured. An index and glossary are found in the back of the book for easy studying.

I bought this book as a gift. It has an amazing "wow" factor when you first hold it! The front cover and the gold sides are beautiful. The inside is also beautifully illustrated. The facts are easy and fun to read. There isn't a ton to overwhelm you on the page. Any outerspace lover will really enjoy this book!

I loved the pictures in this book. Made a very beautiful gift for someone interested in astronomy. Only complaint is there isn't many words per page. It's well suited for younger people rather than an adult. Although it is a fun read for anyone and the information is interesting and factual.

This is a quality book with beautiful illustrations. I am so impressed! My son-in-law received a telescope for Christmas and this book will be very informative for the whole family, including their 3 and 5 year old children to learn from. I will definitely be shopping for more DK books as gifts in the future.

What a treasure! This book is a real gem on your coffee table. Beautiful illustrations with well chosen explanations on the topics. One of the most beautiful books I have ever purchased. A Must Have!

The artwork on the cover was what grabbed my attention but when I received it in the mail, I really couldn’t believe how beautiful it was, right down to the gold trim on the paper. The content is perfect for my 6 year old with simple and interesting information that is easy to understand. Will be purchasing all related books to have as a collect, they’re gorgeous!
