Great light weight non-stick pan
Lightweight & nonstick. Perfect for a small skillet. I prefer removable handles over handles that fold around the sides. I took some fondue in the RV recently and warmed it in this pan with a silicone spatula. Clean up was effortless. We have to soak and scrub our fondue pot after use. 9/18/2018 Update Purchased another one of these for my camping kit. Tried a different mess set but it didn't compare to the MSR. My eggs stuck to the pan with spray oil. On a side note, the MSR that's in the RV is still working great. There is one small scratch on it and my husband swears he didn't scratch it. I only use plastic ware when RVing/camping so hope that one of those did not create the scratch. I'll be more careful with this new pan. These pots & pans are definitely worth using silicone utensils with to maintain the integrity of the non-stick coating. Food literally slides right off of them if they are well maintained.

Light, very packable, but delicate
I had been getting bored with the usual prepackaged backpacking meals and it seemed the best way to take the next step was to expand my cookware. After looking up the various pans available, I settled on the MSR Quick Skillet. First use was on a 4 day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks for cooking eggs and hash browns for 2 persons, both of which came out great! This is a small, very light and very packable pan. Made of thin gauged aluminum, it transfers heat quickly--so always use low/med heat to avoid burning food--and always use a little cooking oil to maximize the non-stick properties. The pan handle is very sturdy and conveniently folds or detaches as needed; I find it more stable and predictable than the usual wrap around folding handles or pan clamps. The cooking surface, like most non-stick surfaces, seems delicate and may scratch easily. I used a plastic spatula yet still noticed a few hair-line scratches by day 3. In the skillet I nested other-branded, collapsable silicon bowls and suspect a few grains of sand/dirt got between these surfaces which rubbed during transport. These scratches were very tiny and seem of little consequence but this illustrates a need for somewhat extra care in the field. I did this by placing a layer of coffee filters between the pan surface and other nesting kitchenware. Yes, I should've done that from the start. Perhaps I will cut out a round piece of quick drying pack towel for that purpose in the future. So the question of durability remains open but I am very pleased with the size, weight and overall performance of the skillet. I'm a bit of a gram shaver but this will definitely allow me to expand my backcountry menu.

Great pan & light wieght but could use slight design change
It a great pan and at 6 inches it is only 2.2 ounces heavier that the tiny one in most pack kits. I can cook a whole trout (cut in half: half for me and half for the bear eyeing me from across the fire - she won't take no for an answer). I would suggest one design change - have the handle fold under the pan. That way you can pack it with your other cookware items like a pot (with a pad or paper to protect the Teflon). I use this a substitute pan for the tiny one wiht my otherwise awesome Mallo Me set, but I can not set them into this pan in the pack with the handle in the way. So yup -- the handle folding underneath would be awesome. The bear just grunted in agreement. Or he wants more fish.

Perfect for Backpacking
Super light weight and cleans up so easily! I did add a tiny bit of oil before cooking but the non stick may have worked just fine without it. Heated very quickly with my MSR stove which is good for the fuel consumption. The only downside is I can't get it into my bear vault. Just a tad too big but I knew the measurements before I got it so not a concern. I just leave it outside under the vault overnight away from camp. Otherwise the size was perfect cooking meals for 1 however the deep sides would have allowed room for more. If you really wanted to pack light you could get away with boiling water in it and ditching the pot.

Great little skillet!
Got this to go with the Quick 2 cooking set, and now feel like our backpacking kitchen is complete. The cooking set nests nicely into the skillet, and the skillet is small and light enough that it doesn't take up excess space or weight. Despite the light weight, it's sturdy enough to do the job. We put it's non-stick capabilities to the test with our powdered eggs, and nothing stuck. The skillet was easy to clean. The deep sides mean it can almost double as a pot for simmering stews and things like that. The detachable handle is easy to use. It's not huge, so things like pancakes need to be done in batches, and cooking for more than two people would be difficult, but any bigger and it would be a pain to pack. For two people, this is a perfect little frying pan, and a great addition to the Quick 2 set.

A Very Well Performing Non-Stick Lightweight Fry Pan For Camping
Overall the best combination of weight, size and performance that I could find. I wanted a non-stick fry pan that will be dedicated to our kitchen box used for family car camping. I didn't want to use a full size and weight fry pan from home in order to to save weight and room in the kitchen box. The folding handles on the Flex work perfectly and the light weight didn't make the already jam packed kitchen box much heavier to lug around. I've been through both a cheap Coleman and a cheap Wal-Mart camping fry pan and they were junk. Those two had a miserable "non-stick" coating that did not work and they were way to thin to prevent scorching. By spending $29.95 I found the MSR Flex to have a very good non-stick coating and the pan was just thick enough if used carefully. We fried potatoes, onions, hash, chorizo and eggs with very good results. The deep sides of the MSR Flex are a good feature and will allow double duty to make soup, sauces etc. I didn't give the MSR Flex a five star rating because I do not like the couple of plastic pieces incorporated into the handle locking mechanism. Not a problem if one is cooking on a white gas stove like we do. I would question how well the plastic would fare over an open fire with flames licking up off the sides of the pan. By replacing the two plastic pieces with metal, I think MSR would have a real winner with the Flex. Overall the MSR is a very good performer especially when considering it's light weight and folding/removable handle. With a little care I think the non-stick coating will hold up well.

Finally!
This is great. I bought it to replace another camping skillet I had which was very difficult to clean. This is exactly what I was looking for - the food did not stick and it was super easy to clean. I made eggs and pancakes in it on my last camping trip. I also used it to sautรฉ onions and peppers over an open campfire and it did not burn. Iโm happy I found this for my cooking needs while camping. Fits well on the msr backpacking stove. Very light.
