Works without any modification w/ 2" pipe, works with adapter w/ 1 1/2" pipe
The threads on the actual automatic vent unit are 2" male. The included ABS adapter has 2" female threads on one end and a 2" female slip joint on the other end. If your vent pipe is 2", the included ABS adapter will glue directly on to your 2" ABS vent pipe. If your vent pipe is 1 1/2" ABS, you will need to purchase an additional ABS adapter at your local home improvement store to reduce the diameter from 2" down to 1 1/2". Installation is straight forward. Make sure you use Teflon type tape on the threads of the automatic vent to completely seal off any sewer gasses. I like that the automatic vent is threaded (not solvent welded) to allow for easy removal if the unit requires replacement in the future.

Not PVC adapter as in main picture
Description words say abs however main picture clearly shows PVC. Easy to just use some all-purpose glue or they make PVC to ABS transition glue if you want to be "legal" when changing from one pipe to the other type fitting. Saw another reviewer say there's no 1.5" connection. The inch and a half connection is further in past the 2" connection. I've been a plumber for over 20 years and these air admittance valves have had the dual connection like this for a very long time. I still can't figure out why the PVC adapter version cost four or five bucks more last I looked. This brand has never failed me and installation is straightforward.

So far, it's working as it should.
Easy install after I figured out the adapter was 2 in one the 1 1/2" I.D. I needed was on the inside just past the 2".

Easy to install
Very easy to install and it is an improvement from what we had before. However, there are times it works amazingly great and there are times where the water will not go down the drain. You have to "pump" the water over the drain to create the pressure it requires to open up. Once it opens, it works great.

This was a pain to fit in my plumbing of standard grade UK pipes. I would not buy it again. I bought two but refunded one after the pain it took to fit the first one. Even the adapters for the pipes were either slightly too big or too small. The plumber wanted to bin it.
