Not sure if it's the solder or the heat shrink that's holding the wires tightest but it's effective and makes joining wires simple. Solder in it has quite a low melting point so takes a bit longer than you might expect to harden again (give it a minute). I tried bodging 4 wires in one connector and it's still holding them solid. Personally I wouldn't trust it completely to insulate the wires, I think I'd put another heat shrink sleeve over the top because I'm not certain the solder part won't melt through and it'd be difficult to spot.

These worked well. A little difficult to tell how much you should heat them but worked well in the end.

The selection of sleeve sizes is good and they come in a nice box. The usage of them is disappointing, I did a couple of trial joints with the red and blue sizes, with 0.75 and 1.5mm wire. Initially I set the heat gun to 250C, which shrunk the sleeves, though didn't melt the solder. Next trial was at 300C, again shrunk sleeve and melted the solder, though it didn't flow into the joint and stranding of the wire. Tried 350C and on this time the solder flowed on the smaller diameter wire and little on the larger. A pull check indicated they were not well soldered as both came apart. My thoughts, the sleeves shrink down and the glue in them melts and flows, the solder ring has too high a melting point and needs improved flux to get the solder to flow. I'll use them, though I'll pre-solder the joint before heat shrinking. Have not tested the water resistance of these things yet.

This product great. Saves so much time and provides a great solder. Plus it seals the ends so there is no need for electrical tape or shrink tubing. Perfect for many projects. AAA+++++
