Works well reminding to close door
Discrete beeps have reminded family member to make sure refrigerator door is close. Cold be a little louder but does the job. Easy to install.

Seems to work well
Five stars for ease of installation and seeming functionality. I just got it yesterday so I can’t speak to the battery life or how durable it is. It seems to be plenty loud on the third setting but does have a louder setting for freezers located in the garage or basement. Hopefully it keeps us from leaving our freezer open again.

Love these
Works great. Our side by side fridge would close with just a nudge. Our new French door freezer does not close as easily and we were frequently leaving it open. Two of these installed out of sight at top of each door have worked very well to eliminate the problem. Very good product.

Works on most types of fridge/freezers
Someone accidentally left the freezer open so I bought this hoping to prevent future incidents. Very loud, which is helpful because the freezer is in the garage. The instructions show it can only be used on certain types of fridges and freezers, the split combos normally don't work but if you can open it from the sides it's suppose to work with this. Very simple so I appreciate it doesn't need bluetooth and all the other fancy requirements like some alarms.

Great For Pull Out Freezer Door
This worked well for our setup. We have a pull-out drawer freezer at the bottom of our fridge. Sometimes, it wouldn't be closed all the way (but it would look closed) and just sit a tiny bit open overnight. There is no built-in alarm on our fridge, so I ordered this item. I have it on the freezer pull-out drawer, and it has worked well. We have a smaller home and we can hear the alarm from across the house. This has already saved us a handful of times and paid for itself. It was easy to install and has stayed in place well.

Great engineering...it is more than a simple alarm. Super loud at its apex.
This thing is LOUD...when it reaches it's apex. Those who say it is NOT probably don't understand what this product is for. What this is NOT: An alarm that loudly goes off whenever the door is opened. What this product IS: An alarm that goes off AFTER AN INITIAL TIME PERIOD to let you know the door is ajar/open. In other words it is NOT a alarm to prevent people from opening a fridge and stealing your prized piece of cake. Thank God (or the engineers) it is not. That would drive me crazy to hear a loud noise every time the fridge is opened. It works like this...when you open the door, a VERY QUIET, almost imperceptible beep sounds. It keeps going off quietly like this every 6 seconds. But the excitement builds. After a minute has passed a brief LOUD beep sounds. Oh I'm feeling it now! But we are just starting! The loud beep keeps happening every minute! Oh the joy! The anticipation keeps building and after three minutes pass a LOUD CONTINUOUS BEEP occurs! Please don't stop now! Keep going, keep going! After 4 minutes the loud continuous beep reaches its climatic crescendo and becomes a SUPER LOUD continuous beep. Ok stop stop stop I'm done...I need to catch my breath. So you close the door to turn it off or slide the switch on the side. And abandon the fridge to go back to your own bed alone so you can sleep. Did I tell you there are 4 loudness settings as well? And you can simply turn it off if you are going to clean your fridge at it will take longer than a few minutes.

Well designed and loud
i really like this little thing, especially for the price. + This sucker is very loud. + It has very quiet reminder beeps. + It has four settings for how those reminders work and how long before the siren. + The installation video is very helpful. i wish i had watched it before installation. + It comes with extra double-sided tape, some thin. i recommend buy some double-back foam tape from the hardware store if you have to change it's location. i have a roll that is pictured and it works just as well. + Contrary to what another reviewer said, there is extra tape and the tape does not go over the battery door, so changing the batteries without removing the tape is not a problem. The reason i gave it a 4: - The manual instructions, which i uploaded here incase you or i need it later, has Chinese machine translated English and make it difficult to understand the 4 settings. Maybe it's me, but i am not clear on the differences. - The manual nor the device shows which way the batteries goes, hence the complaints about replacing the batteries did not make it work again. So i picture them with this review for our edification. - i could not find a download of the manual, so i picture it with this review. - The installation video, like most wordless installation videos, has loud, annoying, porn-style music that interferes with hearing the sounds that are important for installation. Why do they put crappy music on wordless videos? - The backing on the thin double-sided tape is very difficult to get off. i could not find the edge of the backing after sticking it to the device. i had to cut into it with a knife and scrape. All in all though, this is a good device relative to cost. i recommend it.

After yet another freezer-not-being-properly-closed-by-returning-offspring-after-a-nightout, we got this device. I had previously had a more expensive wireless temperature monitor for the same purpose, that was really designed for professional settings like labs etc. It had 2 sensors you just put in the freezer/fridge and then a receiver/alarm unit located within range. But I found it went off occasionally for random temp fluctuations not actually caused by the door being left open, and was then fiddly to reset. Anyway I made the mistake of thinking 'those days are over now the kids are older/more responsible....' - well, you know how that one ends. A week ago we lost another load of frozen food after an all-night door slightly ajar situation which caused the tempertaure to rise so much, we had to defrost the freezer completely and start it again (BTW top tip - last time this happened, we thought something had gone wrong as it simply wouldn't reach freeze temperatures again. Paid £250 for a Miele callout to be told 'defrost it completely, then turn it on again, and leave it for 12 hours'. So that's what we did this time, without paying for the advice - works perfectly). So now I've replaced my old temperature sensor with this distance monitor. So - as for installation - this is the tricky part, and of course it all depends on how your freezer is located and whether it's built in or not. So ours is built in and I decided the neatest solution would be to position the device on the underside of the door - see pic. The main unit went on fine - luckily there was a 4cm gap between the back edge of the door of the freezer, and the vertical panel between the door bottom and the floor. The sticky pad for the main unit worked fine also - very sticky and am confident it will stay on for a while, despite being at maximum risk (ie with gravity applying constant pressure and in an area exponse to damp/cold). That said, I only needed to apply it once - see below. The instructions were that kind of non-English, minimal type you get from, presumably, Far East manufacturers, but it's fairly easy to work out that the different volumes of alarm are activated by 1, 2, 3 or 4 presses of the 'set' button. The next bit was the hardest part. I wanted to position the smaller 'activator' unit so that even if the door was only slightly ajar, it would go off. So here's what I found: 1. The alarm triggering depends not only on how close the units are to each other in terms of the gap between them side-by-side, but also 'vertically'. So you can see from the pic how I ended up with the smaller unit moved towards the 'top' of the main unit. I found this to be the exact right spot for triggering even a slight gap (say, 1cm or less) of the door being ajar. This is crucial for us as it only takes this kind of gap, left open all night, for the freezer to get upset. 2. The sticky pad for the smaller unit stopped working after 3-4 efforts to get the positioning just right - presumably because I was sticking and unsticking it to a slightly greasy, cold, aluminium surface. Cleaning the surface didn't help, so I gave up on the pad. I took it off from the unit and instead improvised with insulating tape and UHU glue. I also marked the final location with a Sharpie, as you can see in the pic, for good measure, in case it gets knocked off. 3. My wife is very sensitive to noise, but we also need the alarm on the loudest setting, so we can hear it when we're in bed late at night, as that's when certain people seem to visit the freezer carelessly. So it will be interesting to see what happens if we are opening the freezer to load/unload and the louder alarm is triggered (think this is 2 or 3 minutes, but again neither the instructions or the page here is particularly clear on this point). However - I can confirm - it's very loud and you should be able to hear it anywhere. 4. Finally, just to note, to replace the batteries you apply a bit of pressure to the front of the main unit and push it 'upwards' (towards the logo end), and the cover should just slip off. I can do this even when its located under the door like this - not difficult. Hope that's all helpful! Will repost an update if it goes wrong/doesn't last long.
