No video built-in! Be aware before you buy.
Be aware that if you are putting this CPU on a motherboard that has video ports, but no video chipset, then this CPU will be absolutely worthless to you unless you are planning on installing a separate video card. The reason? This particular model of CPU has no video capabilities at all. I wish the product description would have made this clear as I unfortunately assumed all CPUs did and bought it. Do your homework first to find out if you need a CPU with video capabilities or not. This is a Xeon Version3 and each Xeon version has different CPUs with different or no video capabilities. This should help you make that decision for a v3.(version3): http://ark.intel.com/products/family/78581/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E3-v3-Family#@Server

Love it for Freenas
Great pick for my Freenas box. I had this running a heavily modded minecraft server, a plex server, an Onecloud server, a teamspeak server, and a Virtual box server that hosts a basic Ubuntu install for steamcmd. With all of this I would average 20% utilization. It peaks at 80% but that is only for a minute or two every couple weeks so I do not notice it. Great processor if you require ECC ram.

Works very well as expected. Did not do any benchmarking or testing, but working well in new NAS server with FreeNas.

Three Stars
Does not have HT. This is basically a i5-4440 that's $20 more expensive.

Great for Transcoding!
Early last year I decided it was time to build a NAS to store my music, movies, backups, etc. I decided to spend the extra money and go with the Xeon over the i3. The Xeon offered more cores and transcoding power even though I probably didn't need it. The Xeon 1220 V3 has performed very well over the last couple of months. I am able to run multiple streams at once using Plex Media Server without lag. It can handle anything I throw at it. Below are the specs of my NAS: CPU: Xeon 1220 V3 Memory: Kingston 16GB 1600MHz ECC Motherboard: ASRock E3C226D2I Storage: 6 x 3TB Western Digital Red Drives Chassis: Lian Li PC-Q25 Fans: Noctua all around OS: Freenas 9.3 Note: I did replace the stock CPU fan. I replaced it because I was worried about the heat build up in a small form factor case. I am quite sure the stock cooler would perform fine in a larger form factor case. Just ask if you have questions!

Strong for gaming.
Great CPU. I needed the single-thread performance of Haswell for gaming, but didn't want/need a built-in GPU. This thing rocks. It's like a Core I5, but with more cache. Definitely recommended for gaming if you don't want to overclock.
