Love this product
my son LOVES this thing so much. He goes ripping through the yard all day and night, it's great. Pretty easy to put together if you follow the instructions. I read some reviews talking negatively about assembly, but not sure what that was about. Instructions are easy to read, and this was pretty straight forward if you just follow them. It is time consuming (mostly putting the stickers on), but it's a big toy with lots of parts. Took me a couple hours total, but again, it was pretty easy. This has been left out in the rain and sun, and color isn't fading one bit, stickers are still all in-tact, and runs smooth. Battery last for a long time as well. I was skeptical because of the big hard plastic tires, but they work great! He mostly uses it in the yard to avoid wear because they will wear down faster on the driveway or road. Barely ever gets stuck to where he needs a push, but it can happen. Easy to use speed gears, and good traveling speed. If it had to complain; I can pick 2 things to complain about. 1- why wouldn't you have a simple squeek horn? Kids love horns, seems like a rip off to have this big expensive thing and they don't even have a horn to toot. Just stickers stickers everywhere. 2- the dump cord for the trunk is unusable for kids. To dump the trunk, you pull this red cord straight up. This takes a good amount of effort, and you need to be significantly taller than the cord itself (meaning no one who can actually drive this car will be taller than the cord). Not a big deal, but annoying that I need to pull this cord every time he wants to dump out his truck. This doesn't happen all too often as he just drives around aimlessly for the most part, but this seems like a fairly major flaw.

Great Toy for hours and hours of fun!
Terrific toy for kids! That doesn't stop this from being a favorite toy for all three kids (6 year old twins and a 2 year old). CONS:(Please keep in mind these are very nitpicky CONS) The tailgate will pop open occasionally when they go over big bumps. Admittedly the leg room is a bit tight even for my 6 year olds (avg height 44"-45"). It doesn't have great traction on wet grass or going up steeper hills...but keep in mind it's a battery powered toy not an actual 4 wheeler. PROS: This overall build and feel of the JD Gator is noticeably better than previous ride-ons our kids have had. It was fairly easy to put together and the instructions are decent. No real issues. Battery Life is quite good (I would recommend the Peg Perego 12V Quick Charger...Yes it's a few more dollars but if your kid or kids love the toy it is well worth it! Dual speeds make it perfect for older speed demons and smaller drivers to have fun The high weight tolerance of this lets the kids load toys and sometimes even tools and trash bags in the back. Max weight doesn't seem to have an effect on the performance or speed. Honestly overall, while it is one of the most expensive things we have ever bought our kids (and I do mean ever)...it is also one of the best. They play with it constantly and it seems to handle just about anything they throw at it quite well. Make sure you note the size so you have a good place to store it, or make sure you cover it as like most battery powered toys it can't get wet. We use an old over size grill cover to protect it between uses before we stow it for winter.

Amazing fun toy- Wish there was more leg room
I bought this for my 5 year old- I did read the reviews about the leg room and had her sit in one at a store prior to purchase. This is such a fun toy ! I love the design, the durability, and everything about it. I know it will take up to 130 pounds- Which is GREAT! However, I wish Peg Perego would consider changing the design to allow for taller kids. I know this may only last 1 or 2 summers - for the price I wish I would last longer, but she's having so much fun. Dang it, It may just be worth it :)

My 3 year old loves it!
First things first... we've only had this for almost 2 months, so my review will be about my current impressions and I will have to come back in some time to update the review after we've used it more. If you are considering getting this and think there is a good possibility you may return it (Hey, I got it on Amazon! Free returns - yippee!), stop! Even though it may be Amazon Prime, this baby is too big to return like the other stuff... and you'll probably have to pay to return it unless Amazon has changed their policy since Dec 2016. Anyway, you have to be present and sign for the delivery - no big deal. Delivery came on time and everybody was nice. My husband put it together, and it took him 30 min - 1 hour. We then charged it for a while and waited anxiously for Christmas to come so we... I mean our boys, could play with it. They are 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 and were stoked (no surprise there). My older son drives and little brother sits beside him. We have a backyard with lots of grass, weeds and mud and that was where we intended the boys to use it. It goes over dirt and short grass great (we have yet to take it in mud), however it doesn't drive very well over the weeds and gets stuck a lot. The weeds aren't crazy high, maybe 12", but they're packed in like grass and the gator doesn't like it. It leaves my little driver feeling very frustrated and getting out of his tractor to push it out of the bad spots a lot. We also let the boys drive it on the road in our culdesac often, which I've read is bad for the plastic tires. So far all is good, but I will update on that when I come back to update my review. We're prepared for having to do something to fix/replace the tires later if needed but are choosing not to worry about it yet (ignorance is bliss, after all). The dumping mechanism (small red ring behind seats) is a little tough to pull, but I think you just have to get used to using it. Going in reverse is surprisingly easy for our oldest son - he got the hang of it pretty quick (you have to hold down on a lever under the seat while accelerating). The turning radius is pretty good - better than my last truck! We got a lot of use out of the first charge before having to recharge - about 3-4 hours I think (broken up over 10-15 different rides) before having to recharge. As of today, we're happy with it overall. It was an expensive gift (as these kids power vehicles all are) but so far I think it was worth the money.

Driven to the brink of insanity building/operating this thing.
I’ll start by saying that this became a Christmas gift for my son this year. He loved seeing me drive my JD mower around and wanted something with the yellow deer icon. I figured - why not this mini gator? Boy, I had no idea of what I was getting myself into. First, the instructions booklet was outrageously complicated for something so simple. I mean sure, once you figured out where everything went - it got put together - but it is a literal puzzle trying to figure out how the diagrams are designed. Whoever put the instructions together obviously didn’t have any consideration for the average consumer. Second - SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY - this thing NEEDS a belt to keep your little ones from falling off of it. At speed 1 - they’re probably okay, but at speed 2 - they’re going to fall off, guaranteed. I couldn’t find the belt on Amazon so I had to go to Peg Perego directly for their $20 + $10 S&H safety belt add-on which should’ve already been included with this thing. A severe safety oversight. Third - Those wheels have ZERO grip and friction. The rear wheels will slip on different gradients and textures. I got around this by putting extra sticky anti-slip tape right where the wheel contacts the ground and it’s a night and day difference - only time will tell how often I have to replace the tape. Short term solution for a long term problem. Other electric riders I got for my kids had actual gripping on the wheels - whoever designed these wheels had not a single clue what the concept of traction is. Seriously, for the price of this contraption, I expected significantly better. You’re going to drive yourself nuts putting it together, it has a severe safety issue not including a belt (I had riders who were much slower than this thing that came with built-in belt straps), and those wheels need a redesign for traction. Much like the actual problems plaguing JD, the quality is NOT there for this item.

Durable, long-lasting ride-on with great battery life, but time-consuming setup
We purchased the Peg Perego John Deere Gator XUV as a Christmas gift. The kids use it regularly outdoors on gravel, dirt, and uneven yard terrain. The build quality is solid and has held up to heavy use, including plenty of bumps and collisions. It’s very durable. Battery life is a standout and easily lasts hours on a single charge. It comfortably fits a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old at the same time, and both kids operate the steering and pedal easily. Assembly took a few hours and requires patience. It can also get stuck on uneven ground and performs best on firm surfaces. It’s large and heavy, so storage space matters. Overall, we’re very happy with this purchase. It’s expensive, but the durability and runtime make it worth it if you have the space.

Excellent
My kids love it. My 5 and 4 years old fit perfectly, is a very fast car, easy to drive, the assembly was a little difficult but my husband did it.

grande

Little Gator, Big Fun!
My boy loves the gator. He has so much fun ripping around the yard and even uses it for helping do chores. It's surprisingly sturdy, easy to drive, and gives him that “mini farmer” confidence boost. The battery life is decent, and he’s constantly hauling sticks, toys, and sometimes even snacks. Honestly, I wish they made one in adult size!
