Has anyone compared this to the Astro or Park Tool models?

Yes , I own several of these and several park tool for different grease , in my honest opinion these are the exact same thing without the paint

Can you put a hydraulic nozzle on this mini-gun?

Well John I'm staring at it and it looks like a 1/4"X20 thread (internal on the gun) but it is very small so it's hard to imagine a hydraulic nozzle this small. It sure isn't Zerk size. Good luck. OBTW it is a great little gun!

Is this the vacuum model or the spring model?

Both. You apply pressure through the bottom with a screwdriver pushing up on the bottom plunger to get the grease to the head and then the head vacuums it in via positive displacement. Works real well I might add. If you wanted to, you could add a spring in the bottom to push continually but in my experience, it's not needed.

Does the container have to be hand filled or will it take the smaller mini grease tubes also?

The instructions, included with the tool, show hand filling, they make no mention of use of a tube. I filled mine per instructions...very easy and it works well.

Great little grease gun

Great little grease gun, I have two of these for different types of grease. You need to make sure there are no air pockets in the grease when you fill and it can be a little messy, but once done it dispenses grease in a controlled manner, ideal for bicycle bearings etc.

Fantastic

Bloody great little grease gun, makes re-greasing my springer so much easier, I like using this thing so much i'm debating machining all my moving parts and fitting nipples xD A bit of a faf to fill, but a glove and some grease proof paper goes a long way. really happy with the gun, however I am going to throw the body in the lathe when I empty it next time, to add some knurling to the shaft, as with the nature of the contents and the fact my hands are always dirty, greasy, oiled or just sweaty it would benefit myself greatly to add some extra grip here and there
