lighting chemicals
This was such an awesome project to do with the kids. It brought a nostalgic feeling for me. My kid had a science project for extra credit and he aced it. The set up was pretty simple because of the instructions and it teaches a lot with hands on experience. Would purchase again.

Science can be fun!
I got this for our nieces so they could have some science projects to do with their mom. They loved the kit. It came with everything you need to do the experiment. It's a great introduction to working with chemicals and using chemistry equipment. I just wish it had come with eyeglasses. Standard to use eyeglasses for any chemistry experiment :)

Lighting Up Science Class: The DIY Luminol Blue & Green Light Kit
The Experiment Begins: As a scientist, I’ve had the privilege of visiting elementary schools to spark the curiosity of young minds with fun, hands-on science demonstrations. And trust me, nothing lights up a classroom—literally and figuratively—quite like the DIY Luminol Blue & Green Light Kit. Kids are naturally drawn to anything that glows, and this kit delivers on that "wow" factor in the most illuminating way. Product Overview: This DIY kit comes with everything you need for 10 glow-in-the-dark experiments—five that produce a brilliant blue glow and five with an eerie green hue. It includes precise amounts of Luminol mixture, Sodium Perborate, Copper Sulphate, and a special Luminol mixture with Fluorescein for that green glow. Recommended for ages 10 and up (with adult supervision, of course), this kit encourages kids to follow directions, think critically, and get hands-on with science in a way that's both educational and fun. Features and Benefits: The real magic of this kit is in its simplicity. It breaks down complex chemical reactions into something kids can experience firsthand, and they absolutely love the glowing results. The directions are easy to follow, making it perfect for classroom demos or at-home experiments. Each trial produces a satisfying glow that lights up the room and the students’ faces. What’s especially great is how this kit aligns with core scientific concepts. Not only do kids learn about chemical reactions, but it also sparks conversations about bioluminescence, energy transfer, and how things glow in nature. As a biologist, I love weaving in real-world examples, like fireflies or deep-sea creatures, to make the lesson even more engaging. A Fun Science Fact for Kids: Why does Luminol glow in the dark? It’s all about chemistry! When mixed with the right ingredients, Luminol undergoes a reaction that releases energy in the form of light. We call this “chemiluminescence”—a big word that simply means a chemical reaction that produces a glow. It’s the same principle behind those glow sticks kids love so much, but here, they get to create the glow themselves. And, a bonus lesson: By using safe, food-grade oils like olive oil when cleaning up, you also help prevent little stowaways (bacteria!) from sticking around—because even bacteria love to hitch a ride on fun science experiments! The Verdict: The DIY Luminol Blue & Green Light Kit is a surefire way to get kids excited about science. It's easy to use, safe (with adult supervision), and packed with enough materials for 10 glowing trials. Whether you’re a parent looking to add some sparkle to a science project or a teacher bringing hands-on fun to the classroom, this kit is a fantastic educational tool. Rating: 5.0 Stars Why? Because not only does it make science come alive, but it also teaches kids to think critically while having fun. Plus, who can resist something that glows? Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a way to bring a little magic—and a lot of learning—into the classroom or home, the DIY Luminol Blue & Green Light Kit is the way to go. It’s more than just an experiment; it’s an experience that leaves kids amazed and eager to learn more. So, grab your safety goggles, mix up some glowing magic, and watch as science lights up their world!

Not satisfied... should have bought luminol
Does light up, but reaction is very short and not intense... not like in the video

Works great
My granddaughter loved this glow light chemistry kit. We had broken open glow sticks in the past to have fun with the liquid inside, but this is much better (and safer - no broken glass to worry about). Easy to follow instructions. The only wish I had was that it had more of the chemicals to make even more glow liquid.

fun chemistry experiment
The kit comes with enough luminol, activator, and catalyst to conduct the experiment several times, yielding a blue or green luminescence. It's handy that the kit includes all necessary components except for water. In addition to the chemicals, the kit contains measuring scoops, a 100 mL measuring cup, a mixing cup with a stick, and gloves. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Both my six-year-old (observer only, adult supervision suggested due to chemicals) and sixteen-year-old were equally enthralled as we crammed into our pantry (converted into a dark room) to watch the chemical reaction. Although the mixture separates after a while, a quick stir revives its glowing effect. It's an entertaining way to demonstrate chemical reactions and chemiluminescence.

Simple but perfect chemistry fun - need more kits!
The DIY Luminol experiment kit is a great way to get excited about chemistry! The kit includes everything you need to complete 5 green and 5 blue experiments, so this is not a one-and-done kit. I have wanted to purchase more of these types of kits, but most are attached to monthly subscriptions, so it's nice to see that Best Chemicals has individual listings. Unfortunately, I am not sure if the company is on hiatus, as I could not get the website to work, and this product is now unavailable. I hope to see them back and with more kits!

Awesome stem experiment
after seeing something similar in a YouTube video, I wanted to get a luminol kit to show my kids that science is fun. We used distilled water and followed the instructions and it worked perfectly. Is it worth the price? The oooh’s and aaah’s and “that’s so cool” are totally worth it. You can mix up a ton of solution with the amount of reagents in the kit. Def a cool stem experiment.

I made a luminol solution with guidance from their website and it exceeded my expectations! The light was clear and fascinating. It became even better upon adding bleach to make it shine bright for a few seconds! I do recommend they make it easier to find their website. Apart from that, I'm certainly going to buy this product again.
