HDMI to 3RCA Composite AV Converter for AppleTV

As I write this, it is successfully converting a fourth generation Apple TV from HDMI output to composite RCA audio and video input for my CRT television. I'm very satisfied with this product from Bleiden, yet I want to point out some important consequences of using a converter like this. My goal was to get Netflix on a normal, non-widescreen tele. When watching a show that is intended for widescreen, it is stretched vertically. The difference in aspect ratio is significant. I was able to get used to it, though. It is not a showstopper for me. Also, not all resolution and/or refresh rate configurations work. Some will fail to enable, others will result in the infamous colored bars. It is important to be very careful when changing these. Most devices will revert to the previous settings after a short pause...if you do not click OK...so, don't click OK. Finally, whether you use NTSC or PAL, those are much lower resolution than 1080p HD or even 720p HD. Therefore some things will be very difficult to see, for example Netflix has icons for different shows, and the titles in them are difficult to see with so few pixels. However, the images are still recognizable, and that is good enough for me. I understand that some people may think I'm crazy when inexpensive widescreen HD TVs are available. Despite that, I like what I have, and I'm glad Bleiden provides a converter that really is compatible with all Apple TV models and the old red, white, and yellow input to my TV.

This HDMI to 3RCA Composite converter works beautifully for old school televisions. I bought it for my sister to see if she would be able to watch her MLB.TV Internet subscription on her television that is about 20 years old by connecting it to a 3rd generation Apple TV. It was both easy and intuitive to connect to the Apple TV and her television. Once it was connected, we were up and running with a picture that is as good as what comes in through her normal cable subscription to this particular television. There is no degradation of the signal at all - it looks as if she is watching her normal cable TV. The converter box is tiny so it is easy to tuck away out of sight also. I appreciate the fact that it came with all the cables too - so many of these types of devices do not provide the HDMI cable. She is extremely happy with the results and the ease with which we were able to get everything set up. We highly recommend this device if you have an old school, non-HDMI television that you would like to connect to an Apple TV.

Works! At first I thought it doesn't, because wouldn't work with new Amazon Fire TV, but worked just fine with Apple. I bought this version vs. the Amazon $39 version. Saving $10 and HDMI Cable included. Was ready to send back, but did a bit more research because it just didn't make sense. Turns out you have to go to the Settings of the Fire TV and change the display resolution to 720 or 1080, depending on your TV. Reason I give it 4 is because of some white noise with the connection. Probably unavoidable with an older TV. But once the movie/show plays, not so noticeable anymore unless you are noise sensitive.

This Bleiden HDMI converter was the THIRD I had to order. Tried two others from other brands but both had dull picture output. All of the converters look alike so perhaps it could be the same Chinese manufacturer making these with other companies just adding their logos. In any case, because I had another HDMI converter for another device, I could see that the color and intensity of that unit was way BETTER than the two units I tried from Digision and Semlos. This Bleiden package was a little more expensive since it includes additional accessories, however, the most important thing for me was the quality of the picture output, which is great with this unit. The colors are bright and sharp and the unit has been performing well for the few days I've had it. Like others have said in various reviews, you don't really need to connect it to a power source. It does not seem to make any difference, however, this unit also has a power cord and a plug. Overall very pleased with this converter after trying two others. Got third time lucky!

This worked really well, perfect picture, for about 12 hours before it failed. The add makes it look like it is different than all the other HDMI to RCA converters that are undoubtedly Chinese imports (all of which have approximately 25 per cent one star reviews). This one is different in that it has a power supply and comes with an HDMI cable in a nice box but it failed in less than a day, which was the exact same experience I had with another similar items on Amazon. The application was converting an HDMI output of a security camera DVR to a LCD monitor/TV with an RCA video input. It worked very well, but not for long.

Used for several months now, and it still works good. It seems to crop the top and bottom of the screen a little, but you would never notice unless you're looking for it.

I am a 64-yr old technically challenged woman with an equally challenged spouse but I can't let mysteries go unsolved. I tried several other cord connections claiming to be able to connect my older TV to a 4K apple tv system I'd recently had bestowed on me. Packaging of this product was extremely clear/precise as to what it was for. Included instructions were equally clear to follow for anyone. I knew enough about connecting components to have it hooked up before reading the instructions. To be sure I had it correct, I viewed the YouTube video the company has to be sure I'd connected correctly. Worked like a charm first time I turned the TV on. So thrilled with this product. I highly recommend!!!

This product MAY work on some set ups, but it did not work for me.Tried it on two diffeent Toshiba TV's connected to 2009 IMac running Sierra with Apple TV. This connection generated small grayed out image. It obviously was not connecting right. Contacted Bleiden company and they advised that since I was seeing an image on the TV, their unit was working right. They advised the problem was with my equipment set up. All I know is that: I purchased a smart TV with HDMl, connected with Apple TV and it worked fine on the first try. I feel I had to learn AGAIN that: If it sounds too good to be true.. it probably is! Any reviewer of this needs to determine in their mind, if my experience with this Bleiden unit is the product or my lack of computer skills. Chuck
