Fight the potential boredom perceived in training with a simple, but versatile, training tool that makes pistolcraft fun. TRAIN SAFELY The SIRT Training Pistol does not fire any sort of projectile, and the lasers are not harmful. Patent pending shot indicating laser, resetting trigger combined with the simulated weight of the pistol and magazine, a red trigger take-up indicating laser (that can be conveniently turned off), and replaceable sights, all in a self-contained package. Excellent training pistol
The SIRT pistol is a better alternative than the standard dry fire practice with a regular pistol. It was boring to dry fire in the past by either having to rack the slide everytime or just manipulating a dead trigger. Either way, I could not see the effect of the practice. This tool allows an actual trigger pull feel without racking the slide and provides instant feedback to shot placement and trigger reset. Compared to my Glock 17 Gen 4, the SIRT is about 1 3/4 ounces lighter empty and the "loaded" weight is about the same with my G17 loaded with 12 rounds. I gave it only 4 stars because the sights are black. I figure it the company wants to replicate a Glock pistol, they should add the white to the sights for a true look. I got a white permanent ink marker and added a white dot to the front sight and white "goal posts" to the rear sight so I could get a true practice feel comprable to my Glock. As far as performance, I took the SIRT to the range on a clear, sunny, bright day. I practiced with some D-1 paper targets (beige colored) and some white paper plates to replicate a plate rack. I found that at 11 yards against the bright paper plates, the green laser was hard to see, but noticeable. Against the beige colored targets, the laser was a little more visible. I compared this with a darker paper target and found that the green laser was a little better to see against this darker target. The closer to the targe, the easier to see. At about 25 yards I had trouble seeing it, if at all. I wear glasses so that may make a difference. As far as accuracy, I was worried that the sighting may be effected by the different target distances. I used the SIRT at 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards and I appeared to me that the sighting was accurate. I was worried I would have to adjust the laser at different distances but I found this was not the case. After doing some dry fire with the SIRT on the "plate rack" when all seemed perfect, I transitioned to live fire and found mistakes that needed correcting. The problem with the SIRT is the gun has no recoil and the gun handles "smoothly". When you add recoil and muzzle flip, the grip issue becomes obvious. So, when using the SIRT it helps to not get loose on the grip but use the proper grip as in live fire.

Effective trigger training aid
I knew from reading the reviews of this product what to expect in terms of the hardware, no disappointments there. As far as its effectiveness as a training aid goes, I have confidence that the tool will improve my first shot acquisition and placement as I am able to clearly see my improvement practicing indoors. Range time will determine if follow up shot placement will be improved, and when I can get some range time in I will post a follow-up. Pluses - both the green and red lasers are bright with the green being easier to see outdoors in sunlight. Trigger action accurately represents that of a Glock pistol right out of the box, and according to the instructions can be adjusted for takeup, or over-travel which I have not done. The red and green lasers can be swapped, and the impact points are adjustable which I did not have to do since the main (green) was spot on. Weight and hand feel are very close to a gen 3 g22, no comment on g17 since mine is an rtf which the sirt is not. Minuses - the sights make the stock Glock sites appear fancy by comparison...maybe I got a bad copy but they are really bad, no outline or dots, just a real cheap pieces of molded plastic...I've seen better on a $15 airsoft pistol . If I can install the stock sights I removed from my Glock I'll post a follow up. The trigger does not have the lever safety, this isn't critical because the stock setting has a lot of travel, its mostly cosmetic. I dry fired side by side with a g22 and the action is different, but so is the action in my g22 vs g17. The only other minus is the dvd they included which has pdf's of the manual, plus videos of the sirt pistol and the AR-15 insert (including install and return to functionality), but has only a very brief video on the sirt showing very basic training demos and some basic fundamentals...good stuff, but nothing that anyone should pay extra for (it's included in the price). A big improvement would be to separate the DVD into specific pistol vs rifle and devote a little more time to actual instruction. Despite the minuses, five stars, and I would recommend this to a friend.

Short changed
There has been no inclination to provide the missing CD nor manuals. You won't get any information at all. It's disappointing because I don't even pick it up anymore. It says that information is included, but there's nothing.

Don't waste your money on something this poorly made
There has to be a better laser trainer out there. This thing is terrible for the money it costs. I can get a real pistol for this price, and the fit and finish on it is sub par for what you pay. The magazine weight rattles and it is very unrealistic in feel.

Good but too heavy of a trigger
Good training tool but for $300 plus it should have a better trigger. This thing feels like a 10 pound trigger. I don't know how heavy the trigger is exactly but you can get into some bad habits if you are not disciplined with this thing. If it had a decent trigger it would be 4 stars. If it came with an extra magazine to practice various reloads it would be 5 stars.

Incredible training tool!
This tool is the best thing out there for diagnosing bad trigger technique. I have been shooting 30 years, reading books, watching videos, and taking classes. I have only had this one day and I've already seen bigger improvement than any of that stuff yielded. It's highly addictive, as evidenced by the blister on my trigger finger and the raw spot on the web of my thumb. The checkering on the backstrap is a little more aggressive than a gen three, especially near the top. I work with my hands quite a bit and have pretty thick skin but I'm going to be earning some new callouses. I was never able to push to the point of exhaustion without real ammo until now. I already have the Laserlyte drop in and Crimson trace laser grip on a Glock. They definitely help in the same fashion but not nearly as fast as this does. They did a good job of simulating the Glock trigger. The take up is a little lighter. The trigger is smoother overall and not as mushy. More crisp. There is no safety lever and the trigger is a little flatter but that just makes it more comfortable for longer practice sessions. It looks like the rear sight could be replaced but I just taped it up and used a white paint marker to slap on the typical dot and field-goal. There are only two other mild annoyances. I don't really care for full-size Glocks and the hump. An interchangeable backstrap or compact version would be nice. It would also be nice to have a printed manual instead of the PDF on the disk. I still have no idea how to adjust the trigger or change the battery but I am still extremely happy with this toy. I mean tool. It's nice to be able to turn off the take up laser and practice point shooting too!

Awesome training tool, but I wish the magazine was interchangeable with factory magazines
This is a great training tool for anyone who is looking to improve their shooting skills. I bought it for my USPSA dry fire practice at home and althought I have not had it that long, I have used it a few times in my dry fire exercises at home. It feels like a real Glock and I am glad I got the metal slide version (110 Pro). My only complaint is that the sights are not very good since both the front and rear sights are all black. When training inside where the lighting is not as good as outside it makes it a little more difficult to see. I also wish Glock mags would fit so I could practice reloads. The gun cost almost as much as a real glock and it wouldn't have cost much more to improve on the two minor gripes I have about the gun.
