Great for canyoneering
This device is lightweight and very easy to set up and use for rappels and belays. The device creates a lot more friction than other devices I've used, such as figure 8s, which made it particularly great for my novice friends who have not spent much time on-rope. I'll definitely be packing this device on more adventures.

Cable broke off, is this safe for rappel? *edited
*The customer service responded immediately to ask more details of about what happened and to investigate it. I appreciated their concern. I've changed the rating to reflect my experience. I hope they will find a solution for future safety. --- First time rappelling, the support cable broke off. I was rappelling my kids. It could have been very dangerous. Luckily I was on an easy rappel. This is dangerous stuff.

Locks too much
This ATC locks the rope all the time and is difficult to belay with. Replaced with a slightly more expensive black diamond xp model which works much better.

Do not buy - the cable came out when I brushed against the side of a canyon wall on the first outing. Terrible piece of junk.
