Extremely Accurate, Solid Build, and Perfect for 3D Printing Work
The iGAGING Absolute Origin 0โ6" Digital Caliper has quickly become one of my most reliable tools. The accuracy is spotโon, and the measurements stay consistent thanks to the absolute origin feature โ no constant zeroing like cheaper calipers. The stainless steel construction feels sturdy and smooth, and the slide action is precise without any wobble. The IP54 rating is a nice bonus, keeping dust and splashes from interfering with the electronics. I also love the SPC/USB output port, which makes it easy to log measurements directly into software when Iโm working on detailed projects. Switching between inch, metric, and fractional modes is quick and intuitive. For anyone doing 3D printing, woodworking, machining, or detailed hobby work, this caliper is a fantastic upgrade. Itโs accurate, durable, and feels like a professionalโgrade tool at a great price. Now I just need to learn how to use my CAD software to be able to create more projects for me to 3D print. Made a few projects and this Caliper really helped making project simpler. And everything fit perfect because of the accurate measurements.

Absolute Origin Digital Caliper is an Absolute bargain!
I purchased this item thinking it would not be as good a quality as the product description said but I was wrong. The thing was well packaged and functions exactly as described. The plastic case is relatively sturdy and I expect it will protect it just fine. I have used it several times and checked it against other instrument readings and it is always dead on. I have only had it a few days, so not a lot of use yet, but I am very happy with it. For the price, I think it is a great tool. It is easy to hold, easy to use, easy to read, easy to zero. All of that is fine as long as the accuracy is there and it certainly seems to be there. It came with an extra battery which was a nice plus. I can't image it using a lot of power so I think one battery should last almost forever! BUT, when it goes out, I have a replacement (if it will still be good months down the road!). If it uses batteries faster than that, then I may have to amend this review. So, mark me down as very satisfied and pleased.

Precise, Poor Case Foam
This caliper appears well made and is a good value for the price. Weighty in the hand with very sharp points on the caliper tips. Out of the box it read "0" when closed. Easy to use, it activates as soon as it's operated. Display legibility is good and the size is adequate. A backlight on the display would be a great upgrade. Battery life is yet to be seen but 2 are included and they are a standard easy-to-find battery. Case & foam are poor. The points of calipers will snag on the cutout as it's pulled out of the box. And on day 2 the cutout portion of the foam detached due to the points catching on it. Not a deal-breaker but annoying. A better thought out home for the tool is needed. Also the case "could" unintentionally open as it lacks a secure closure clasp. I wouldn't trust this case to be thrown around in a box or bag. The thumb wheel has play in it but it's probably an intentional part of the design where the wheel is disengaged when the calipers are opened or closed without using the wheel. Overall a pretty good tool. Made in China.

I agree with the top ranked review, good tool and value for the money
There was a very comprehensive set of reviews written by someone else on the various price breaks/best caliper per group... and for the $30-50 this was the top ranker. I have worked manufacturing line jobs and had a digital caliper glued to my hand for the whole shift many times, and there are some things I look for when I buy a caliper. This one is a bit heavier than I expected. It is a little bit larger head, but it is solid. It came with an extra battery, and it's a fairly good feel and slide to it. One downside is the bar is just sort of marked by the ten millimeter groups, no scale where you could run an estimate manually if the battery was dead. Nothing to mark it off for though. It came with a little bit of oil to prevent corrosion on it (easy to wipe off) and a bit of paper between the jaws to protect them. The serial number was handwritten onto the accompanying paperwork including where calibration and accuracy checks were performed and handwritten the name of the inspector and date. (within 2.5 months of when it arrived in my hands). It was ready to go out of the case. Accuracy and repeatability, seems right on, even when I pulled the jaws to near max. I'd say I got very good value for my money; I will update if it warrants it. Overall, the other recommendation was spot on, and in this price range it's a very good tool, accurate and well made.

Great value-priced digital electronic caliper, only one caveat
I have just started using this Digital Electronic Caliper manufactured by iGaging. I have found it easy to use and accurate, I am so far very pleased. I bought this particular brand based on a video review I found published on Amazon which compared it with 5 others. From what I've seen so far, I'm glad I followed the reviewer's advice, and feel that I've gotten a real bargain compared to the others I considered from local outlets. The jaws are very straight and mesh well. The slide moves freely and smoothly and there is no discernible play in the jaws with normal use. The thumbwheel works well for fine adjustments, although setting the opening to an arbitrary value can require a steady hand. Normal measurements are a breeze using either the internal or external jaws. The depth gage also works very well if you extend it, then press the tool into a depression (e.g.). There is only one disappointment. Although the tool is value-priced, the USB cable assembly is not. For some reason, the cable is about double the price of the tool. The connector on the tool is not a standard USB socket. I haven't been able to bring myself to buy the cable. I'm still hunting for a bargain, or the technical specs so that I can make my own cable, if that is possible. Until then, I'm just writing down my measurements manually.

Worth the money!
I never intended to get a digital caliper and was happy to stick with the good ol' dial caliper. But... there are things you can do with a digital that you can't do with the dial. So I came around to the decision to get one and did a little research. The iGaging Absolute Origin scored high marks from a number of sources so I went with it. I'm not disappointed. The readings match up with my dial caliper and this unit has some great little features. It has an auto off at 5 mins unused and I started out hitting the power button to turn it back on, when one time I picked it up and started moving it without hitting the power button... it turned on just by moving the jaws. Nice. The accuracy has been excellent and the only thing I could say even mildly negative is that it was a little stiff to move at first. It has loosened up a bit now and is easier to move with no effect on accuracy. All in all, I'm liking it.

This tool has a very smooth feel while measuring fine measurements
I purchased this electronic caliper to take the measurements of one of my bass guitars so I could send them to a bass builder to have one of my other basses redone to the same specs. He wanted these measurements befor starting any work.
