Will it pump gasoline

I imagine it would. But safety is paramount as you would be using this with an electric drill or a electric battery powered drill. The Ignition from the electric motor is a high potential for explosion. I would not recommend this pump for transferring fuel or explosive liquids.

Does this need to be mounted or can it be hand held while using?

It can be hand held. Mine leaked where the driven shaft went into the pump, and had a hard time pulling up the RV antifreeze I was using that was 2 feet away from me. My pump now lives in the junk cupboard in case I get desperate.

Do these tweezers have a 'grippy end'/serated end or are they flat?

All 3 tweezers have serrated jaws on the inside.
