Okabashi Men’s Surf Flip Flops - Sandals

Solid flops, stiff and not too comfortable. BUT these are gonna last a long time and not stretch. I wear flops all summer long here in Mississippi and I love these so far. If you want "foamy" feeling flops - keep looking. These are hard-core and I'm loving them. Best part about them... USA MADE! UPDATE: After wearing these and breaking them in - LOVE them totally. Solid and great fit. Again, these are not those cushiony, soft, walk on cloud type. My favorite pair so far!

I cannot stress enough to anyone who reads this that these flip flops are the best you will find anywhere. They are completely made of a rubber material, all one piece, but they are STRONG -my last pair lasted me 10 years! And that last pair didn't rip up all the hell like most cheap flip flops. They began to tear little by little so you have plenty of time to order another and you won't have an accident also like with those other cheap ones. I've actually seen people break fibulas and toes when they were wearing the cheap flip flops you buy at the market! You won't have that worry with these. At first they feel strange because they are not flat and unsoppurtive, as they have a very high arch support, which is a GOOD thing folks! Your feet should never be so unsoppurtive and flat when you're walking around. Personally I LOVED the fact that my arches were so well supported. They felt real cozy and was like wearing a couple if masseuses on my feet. lol You literally don't want to take them off! I'm serious, if you have a low arch or suffer from foot problems due to arches, then you won't want to wear anything to else once you wear these babies. They also have these little bumps that, again, will feel strange at first, but thy will feel fantastic as you wear them for a few hours, because these little bumps are designed to massage your soles and it does feel great. I mean, try them out. Don't believe me..20 bucks isn't a big deal, but you'll thank me. Hehe :)

I’m a dedicated Okabashi buyer so I bought these for my husband. All of their products run a tad bit big so size down if you are not at the top of your size. He wished I had gotten a size smaller but chose to keep them because of how comfortable they are. They are like wearing an orthopedic support. They are amazing for rocky and sandy surfaces. The quality will never wear out you will have them for life! They look great and will allow you to walk, hike, stick to any surface. I own dozens of pairs and styles and I will get him a smaller pair next summer.

Purchased my first pair of Okabashi's at a local pharmacy on impulse 3-4 years ago, not thinking much of it. I mostly used it for showering at gyms because they seemed to offer great grip. It was the non-thong style and is holding up so well I bought another pair, but this time the thong-type. The only con is that they are a little heavier than most slippers and they take quite some time to break-in. They are not as soft and supple as a pair of Scott's on first fitting, but Okabashi's last long, offer better arch support, have a lot of grip for the price, and after they break-in the rubber compound softens up and turns into an great slipper especially for the price. Would recommend and buy again.

It took me a little while to get used to these sandals, but I have become a huge fan ever since. I was a Teva Mush II guy for the longest time, but the Teva's have at least two fatal flaws: 1) they stink, badly, after regular wear, and 2) the soles fall apart after not very long. These sandals NEVER SMELL. Seriously. Whatever chemical formulation they use to make these is incredible because they smell exactly the same way they did when I first bought them, over a year later. And I wear them every day for hours a day. And these sandals are COMFORTABLE! You should be aware that there is a break in period where they may not feel the most comfortable. But once they're broken in they are just fantastic feeling. Bravo!

I like how these fit on my feet however very disappointed that the material split within 3 months after occasional use indoors only. I expected them to last at least a few years. Won’t purchase this brand again. Update Aug 31,2026 - Changing rating from 1 to 4 stars because I contacted manufacturer direct and they are sending me a free replacement pair of sandals. Okoboshi offers a 2 year warranty which they honored after sending them proof of purchase and pic of broken sandal. Thank you Okoboshi for honoring your warranty promise! Fingers crossed the replacement sandals last longer this time.

Purchase a second pair after a few years of the first pair (see review of original pair below). This pair did not need breaking in and the "tire" smell seemed to be a lot less. The Okabashi logo has now changed from the red in the online picture to (in my case) black to match the product color. I called Okabashi and was told that the logo color now matches the color of the flip flops and that they had made a small change in the product material. I am very satisfied with this new pair and may actually order yet another pair in a different color! This are very sturdy and perfect for walking around the house, yard and the beach. (old review below:) With plantar fasciitis I wear orthotics in my shoes. When I walk barefoot I experience pain. I wanted something that I could wear in the shower to alleviate the pain of standing in one spot on hard tile and that was not too fancy. These seem to do the trick. As others have mentioned, at first these do smell like a tire store, but that goes away after a short while. I was concerned about the fit at first. I am a size 10.5 Wide. At first I thought these were a touch too small and a bit too tight. After wearing these for a week they have become "broken in" and I am very happy with them. Note that these are all recycled molded rubber with no fabric, so you can get them soaking wet and dry them very quickly. These have not only become my "shower shoes" but are also my house shoes, and short excursions away from the house. Use some patience while getting these broken in and I think you will like them. I will no doubt buy another set as time goes by.

Writing this review to help others with heel pain. I am 99% sure I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot. I have had it off and on for years in both feet, mostly the left for some reason. These sandals help immensely. I didn't want to wear shoes in the house so I thoughts I'd check back with OKABASHi to see if they were making wider widths for women yet. Sadly, they don't seem to be. This men's sandal is the perfect width for me but about a half size to a size too long. I just deal with it. It was nearly a deal breaker that the straps are too tight. Like, ouch tight in the beginning. A male family member with the same length and narrower feet than me couldn't even get his toes more than halfway into them because his feet were too thick to fit under the straps. I only kept them because I can kick them off regularly throughout the day and they really help my heel pain to the point that 20 or 30 minutes wearing them gets me hours of relief without even keeping them on and even if I am walking around. I used to love my OKABASHi Turino style sandals I bought at a convenience store while traveling back in the 80s/90s but at some point they started making them senselessly narrow and pointlessly breakable. The crisscross sandals being terrible offenders of breakage. I am just really hoping these hold up because of the great relief I get. Otherwise they wouldn't be worth the full price since the fit is so frustrating. Honestly they're a little awkward to walk in sometimes so take it slow.

I bought this same model about ten years ago on a whim from a local pharmacy. The rubber is dense and comfortable to wear. There is a slight texture so your feet don't slide around too much, even when wet. I've worn these camping, beach, walking, etc. and they held up nicely. The logo part near the heel did shrink a little bit after being exposed to the hot sun on multiple occasions, but never interfered with that comfort. Unfortunately, I lost one of mine crossing some rapids and was unable to find it again. This is my second pair and have been equally happy with them. I swear they'll last for life!

Bought these to see if they would help relieve heel pain over time. So far so good, using this flip flop, and other measures. The flip flop itself is comfy once you get used to it. The initial impression is a relatively hard inflexible surface. I'm a size 10 in the UK, this was a size 11 and it fitted ok.
